Sears surrendered four runs in the second inning on a base hit, two doubles, and a two-run homer by Jeremy Peña. Jose Altuve then took Sears deep for a solo homer in the third before the Astros brought two more runs in to score in the frame. Altuve went yard off Sears again in the fourth to add two runs for Houston. That would do it for the 29-year-old left-hander. Sears leaves with a 5.18 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 43/11 K/BB ratio across 57 1/3 innings. He’ll look to bounce back against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday.

Sears did a great job holding the Yankees offense at bay on a hot Saturday afternoon in Sacramento. The only damage against him came on a solo home run by Aaron Judge in the fourth inning. Sears scattered three other hits and one walk while striking out four. It was hit fifth consecutive start allowing two earned runs or less. The 29-year-old left-hander will take a 2.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 36/7 K/BB ratio across 45 innings into a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Friday.

Sears struck out two and didn’t walk a batter while posting a 12 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW. Sears has raised his arm angle this year, which has altered the shapes of his arsenal a little bit and has been a major part of his 2.93 ERA on the season. Sears didn’t miss many bats on Sunday, but he pounded the strike zone with his sweeper against a mediocre offense. Sears will be much tougher to trust next week against the Yankees.

Sears scattered five hits, and issued just one walk. He was more deceptive than overpowering with his stuff — as is usually (always) the case — as he generated just six swing and misses among his 89 pitches. He was able to land 62 of those offerings for strikes in another soli start for the southpaw. He’s now 4-2 on the season, and his ERA has dropped to a very solid 2.94 in the process. He gets a friendly matchup against the Marlins next week.

Sears scattered five hits in the contest, and he struck out five with one walk in the victory. The only run he allowed was a solo homer by Wyatt Langford, and outside of that he was able to escape the small amounts of trouble he created. He’s allowed just two runs over his last 11 frames, and he has yet to give up more than three runs in any of his outings. He’ll take a 3.21 ERA into a rematch with the Rangers next week.

The 29-year-old southpaw struck out two and issued a pair of walks in the ballgame. All three of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles. Only once did the White Sox have a player reach third base against him — on a two-out single by Lenyn Sosa in the sixth inning — but Sears got Michael A. Taylor to pop out to the catcher to end the threat. He generated just one swing and miss on 100 pitches in the ballgame, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 20 percent. He’ll see if he can keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.13 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and an 18/5 K/BB ratio (23 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Rangers.

Sears gave up two runs in the second, and another was charged to him in the fifth before being pulled. He did strike out seven, but that’s not much consolation. Sears now has a 4.24 ERA on the year, and he’ll attempt to bounce back against the White Sox in Chicago on Thursday.
