Saggese knocked a base hit in the first inning, then gave the Cardinals a three-run lead with a two-run homer off Andrew Abbott in the third inning for his second home run of the season. The 23-year-old infielder is hitting .263/.302/.347 with 23 runs scored and 23 RBI across 253 plate appearances.

One was a double, though that was his softest-hit ball of the game. It’s Saggese’s first four-hit game as a major leaguer, and he’s now batting .256/.299/.330 in 232 plate appearances. The lack of power production is an issue, but the exit velocity is there; he has a 44% hard-hit rate and he’s managed eight barrels, though just one has turned into a homer.

The 23-year-old has settled into an everyday role as the Cardinals’ second baseman and has gone 19-for-68 (.279) with five RBI and two steals in 20 games in August. The counting stats have not been great, but Saggese is a solid hitter and has had some 20-home run seasons in the minors, so he could be worth an add in deeper formats.

All of the singles came off Edward Cabrera. None were hit harder than 80 mph, but he dropped them all in front of outfielders. It’s his second three-hit game as a big leaguer, and he’s now up to .259/.288/.340 in 157 plate appearances. His exit velocity numbers on the whole are actually a fair amount better than the low .081 isolated slugging percentage indicates. However, the 43/6 K/BB is an obvious problem, and he’s going to need to show more down the stretch if he wants the Cardinals to save him a spot next season.

Well, that was fast. Saggese returns to the big leagues with Nolan Gorman requiring a trip to the injured list due to an ongoing back ailment. The 23-year-old rookie infielder’s defensive versatility offers plenty of avenues to at-bats, but he’s hit just .233 (20-for-86) with one homer and 10 RBI across 28 games this season at the big-league level. He’s an interesting prospect based on his production at the Triple-A level, but it’s going to be a challenge for him to find at-bats in St. Louis, especially with top prospect JJ Wetherholt on the way.

The 23-year-old has struggled at the dish in 90 plate appearances for the Cardinals this season, slashing a meager .233/.256/.326 with one homer, 10 RBI and an uninspiring 23/3 K/BB ratio. He returns to an everyday role at the Triple-A level until he’s needed once again. The expectation is that Jordan Walker will be activated from the injured list to take his place on the active roster on Friday.

Saggese has put together an outstanding season at the Triple-A level, hitting .317 with five homers and five steals across 42 games before returning to the big leagues ahead of Friday’s series opener. The 23-year-old middle infield prospect went 1-for-4 at DH on Friday night. He’ll help fill the void left at the spot with slugger Iván Herrera facing a multi-week absence with a hamstring strain. He’s a name to watch in deeper mixed leagues if he’s able to carve out a semi-regular role.

Saggese replaces Iván Herrera on the active roster with Herrera hitting the injured list with a hamstring strain. The 23-year-old hit very well with the Cardinals prior to his demotion, and he’s forged a 317 average with an .847 OPS for Memphis since being sent down. Saggese can hit, the question is if he’ll get enough playing time for that to matter from a fantasy perspective.

The 23-year-old now has a 6.87 ERA on the season at Triple-A and seems to have been passed by both Braxton Ashcraft and Mike Burrows in terms of potential options for the Pirates’ rotation. With Bubba Chandler also in the mix, it seems highly unlikely we’ll see Harrington in the big leagues again this season, and he’ll need to turn the ship around fast if he wants to have a chance to compete for a 2026 rotation spot.

White is one of the most promising pitching prospects in baseball, period. The 20-year-old southpaw’s fastball and slider combination is going to lead to astronomical strikeout totals down the road and make him an impact fantasy contributor. He set down 10 of the final 11 batters he faced on Friday, lowering his full-season ERA to a strong 3.24 mark through six starts for High-A Beloit. He should reach the upper minors at some point in the second half of the year with a chance to make it to Miami in 2026.

The Cardinals want to keep Nolan Gorman in the lineup most of the time, so the 23-year-old Saggese will return to Triple-A, probably until someone gets hurt. He impressed in hitting .341 with a homer and four doubles in 41 at-bats, and there’s a good chance he’ll finish the season as one of the Cardinals’ starting infielders.
