What’s that saying about letting something go and seeing if it comes back to you? Trejo returns to the Rangers organization after a brief 13-game odyssey with the Rockies. The 28-year-old infielder is merely emergency depth at this juncture of his career, but it’s interesting to see him back with the club that traded him in late April.

Trejo was an unmitigated disaster at the plate for the Rockies, slashing .175/.190/.225 with zero homers, one RBI and a 7/1 K/BB ratio in his 43 plate appearances. The most likely scenario is that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to serve as extra infield depth for the Rockies at Triple-A Albuquerque.

The trade is now official. Trejo jumps directly onto Colorado’s active roster as a reserve infielder, a role he’s occupied over the last five years when he got into 173 contests for the Rockies, hitting .228 with nine homers and six steals during that span.

The move won’t become official until Sunday. Trejo will then be activated for the series finale against the Reds. Trejo will be a depth option for Colorado, and even while playing his home games in Coors Field, there’s no reason to consider him in fantasy formats.
