Taillon gave up a run in the first on a sac fly, but he should have been out of the inning if not for a gaffe in the infield that allowed a pop up to drop. The right-hander allowed another in the fourth on a single by Jake Bauers. Taillon walked one and struck out three, and likely will start a game in the NLCS if the Cubs can complete the comeback.

Taillon draws the starting assignment with Chicago needing a victory on Wednesday evening at Wrigley Field to keep their season alive after dropping the first two games of the best-of-five series. The 33-year-old veteran right-hander was excellent down the home stretch of the regular season and tossed four scoreless innings last Thursday in a Wild Card Series start against the Padres. This will be one of the bigger starts of his career so far.

The 33-year-old right-hander racked up four strikeouts on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. Taillon allowed a two-out single to Ryan O’Hearn in the second inning and a two-out double to Jackson Merrill in the fourth and that was it. He was lifted for Caleb Thielbar in the fifth inning though as the Padres had three lefties due up despite only throwing 60 pitches (43 strikes) over four stellar frames. His next test will come against the Brewers in the National League Division Series.

Taillon draws the starting assignment for Thursday’s winner-take-all showdown at Wrigley Field against former Cubs ace Yu Darvish, who gets the ball for San Diego. The 33-year-old righty posted an encouraging 1.54 ERA across four September starts and will be making just his third career postseason appearance. Meanwhile, Darvish will be making his 14th career postseason start since 2012.

The lone run came on a Nolan Arenado fly to left-center that was only a home run in Wrigley. Taillon finished with eight strikeouts, his highest total since he fanned 10 against the Mets in June 2024. The Cade Horton injury will surely get Taillon into the Cubs’ Wild Card rotation alongside Matthew Boyd and Shota Imanaga. He’ll take an 11-7 record and a 3.68 ERA into the series against the Padres.

After sitting through a 71-minute delay to begin the game, Taillon had a breezy 82-pitch outing, allowing five hits, walking none and striking out four. The loss leaves him 10-7 with a 3.78 ERA. He’ll probably start again next weekend against the Cardinals, though it could be an abbreviated outing ahead of the postseason.

Taillon allowed just two hits with two walks, and he struck out three. While far from dominant, it was his best start since returning from the injured list with his calf injury, and it came against the team that developed him. Taillon will look to build on this effort, but fantasy managers are wise to remain skeptical from a fantasy perspective when he faces the Reds on Sunday.

Taillon didn’t have much here despite limiting damage. His command was iffy as he either caught too much of the plate or had noncompetitive misses and struggled to put hitters away. He only faced three batters in the first inning, but threw 19 pitches which set the tone for laborious innings ahead. It was his first game back off the injured list though, so the lack of crispness was a bit expected. He’s scheduled to face the Pirates next time out.

Taillon rejoins Chicago’s rotation for Wednesday’s start against Atlanta following a two-week absence recovering from a left groin strain. The 33-year-old veteran hurler has been limited to just 19 starts this season due to a pair of injured list stints. There’s very limited fantasy appeal outside of extremely deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats down the home stretch.

It’ll wind up being a minimum stay on the injured list for Taillon as he gets set to take the ball this week at Truist Park in Atlanta. The 33-year-old veteran has been limited to just 19 starts this season due to physical issues.

Harold Castro and Tyler Gentry homered off him for Omaha. Taillon only really needed one start off with his injury, but the unimpressive rehab showing might cause the Cubs to hesitate in activating him. If not, he’ll face the Braves either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Taillon heads to the injured list after making an early exit from Sunday’s start against the Astros with left groin tightness. The 33-year-old veteran has been limited to just 19 starts this season due to injury and is back on the shelf for the third time.

Taillon would have returned for the sixth inning had he not been dealing with the groin issue. Fortunately, Cubs’ skipper Craig Counsell called the move precautionary and there’s optimism that Taillon will be able to make his next scheduled start. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status over the next few days just to make sure that he’s good to go before locking him into lineups for next week.

Taillon gave up three hits, walked none and struck out three. The 33-year-old right-hander threw 62 pitches in his second start since returning from the injured list, which was a little curious after throwing 92 pitches in his first start back. Taillon has a 4.15 ERA and 81/21 K/BB ratio in 106 1/3 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Rockies on the road next weekend.

Taillon struck out four opposing hitters in the ballgame and allowed only one base on balls. The Brewers scratched out a run against him in the first inning on an RBI single by Andrew Vaughn, but the 33-year-old hurler settled in beautifully afterwards and kept them off the board for the next five frames. The veteran right-hander got four whiffs on 92 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine performance as he brings a 4.26 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 78/21 K/BB ratio (101 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Giants in San Francisco.

Taillon take the ball for the nightcap of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Brewers at Wrigley Field. It’s an extremely tough draw since Milwaukee is the hottest team in baseball right now. The 33-year-old veteran has been out since early July recovering from a right calf strain. He’s compiled a pedestrian 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 74/20 K/BB ratio across 95 1/3 innings (17 stars) this season. He’s not a recommended streaming option right out of the gate, but should be rostered in deeper mixed leagues.

Let’s try this again. It’ll be made up on Tuesday as a split doubleheader at Wrigley Field. Jameson Taillon is slated to come off the injured list to take the ball for the second contest of the twin bill with Matthew Boyd handling the front-end. It’ll be Chad Patrick and Brandon Woodruff drawing the starting assignments for the sizzling-hot Brewers.

Taillon allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four and throwing 51 of his 84 pitches for strikes. The veteran’s velocity was down a little bit, averaging just 91 mph on his four-seam fastball, but he posted a solid 23 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW. He seems ready to return, so the question is whether the Cubs go with a six-man rotation or bump one of Javier Assad, Colin Rea, or Cade Horton from the rotation.

The Cubs will have some decisions to make once Taillon returns as Javier Assad also made his return to the team’s rotation on Tuesday and things are getting a bit crowded. The 33-year-old hurler has been shelved since July 1 due to a right calf strain.

Taillon threw 64 pitches his last time out, so if all goes well with this outing he could be cleared to return to the Cubs’ rotation next week. That would push Ben Brown back to either Triple-A Iowa or a long relief role.

Taillon struck out one and registered a six percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. His velocity was fine, sitting 92 mph on his four-seam fastball, so this was likely more due ot shaking off rust. He threw 64 pitches in this outing and is likely due for at least one more Triple-A rehab appearance before he becomes an option for the big league rotation.

Taillon completed a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday without any issues and will take the ball later this weekend for his first rehab outing. The 33-year-old righty has been out since early July with a right calf strain. He’ll likely need a couple tune-up outings before returning to Chicago by the end of the month.

Taillon hit the injured list back in early July with a right calf strain, but the expectation is that he’ll make it back at some point in August. The 33-year-old righty will require a couple rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina, but he appears to be close to getting back into game action.

The next step for the 33-year-old hurler will likely be facing live hitters before progressing to a minor league rehab assignment. He’s on track to return to the Cubs’ rotation at some point in mid-August as long as he avoids any setbacks along the way.

Taillon is expected to miss at least a month with the injury, making him very droppable in mixed leagues. The veteran right-hander is 7-6 with a 4.44 ERA in 17 starts this season. The Cubs said they’ll use a bullpen game to replace him Saturday, but they did recall Jordan Wicks, who could ultimately take the open rotation spot.

Taillon had matched Framber Valdez with four shutout innings before Jose Altuve took him deep for a two-run homer in the fifth for the first runs of the game. That would end the day for Taillon at 107 pitches. He scattered five hits and one walk while striking out four. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 74/20 K/BB ratio across 95 1/3 innings into a start against the Cardinals in Chicago on Saturday.

Yikes. The 33-year-old hurler punched out three batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The Cardinals got to him early and often in this one, as Lars Nootbaar belted a two-run homer in the second inning, Masyn Winn launched a two-run shot in the third and Nolan Gorman took him deep in the fourth inning. Taillon got seven whiffs on 81 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces as he carries a 4.47 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 70/19 K/BB ratio (90 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s matchup against the Astros in Houston.

Taillon was battered around for a whopping eight hits, including home runs by Rhys Hoskins and Caleb Durbin, as Milwaukee managed to chase him from the contest after just four frames. He finished with only two strikeouts and walked one batter in the abbreviated outing. It was the first time he failed to complete six frames since May 9. The 33-year-old veteran has been excellent this season with a 3.84 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 67/17 K/BB ratio across 86 2/3 innings in 15 starts. He’ll aim to get back on track on Tuesday when he faces the division-rival Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
