Tucker has his first big moment for the Dodgers. The 29-year-old came up with two outs and the bases loaded with the Marlins trailing 4-3, and he laced a single up the middle to score a pair to give Los Angeles the win. Tucker has not gotten off to a hot start as seen in his .230/.326/.364 line, but he’s been one of baseball’s best hitters for the past decade or so despite rarely playing his best in the early portion of the season. There’s very little reason to think he won’t get it going shortly.

“I think that he’s obviously going through it right now and not feeling great at the plate. So sometimes, the different visual, letting the game come to you a little bit before jumping in there in the two, changes your outlook and potentially the results,” Roberts said about moving Tucker down the order. Tucker isn’t exactly struggling at .245/.327/.372, with three homers and three steals, but the Dodgers were hoping for more when he signed his megadeal that pays him $33 million this year and $81 million in 2027 before team options are considered. It’s not a major move for fantasy managers, and arguably even a favorable one given more chances to hit with a runner on base.

Tucker, who went 3-for-5 with his third round-tripper of the season on Sunday, receives his first day off since April 5 with Colorado throwing veteran lefty Jose Quintana at Coors Field. Alex Call gets a chance to patrol right field in his place.

Tucker gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead with a homer in the first with Shohei Ohtani on first off Ryan Feltner. After scuffling in his first few weeks as a Dodger, he’s back to raking, and his slash of .260/.356/.403 is much more impressive considering it was .246/.343/.316 last week. Tucker usually gets off to a slow start, and more times than not, he ends up one of the top outfielders in fantasy baseball.

Tucker played a part in both runs the Dodgers would score in Tuesday’s pitchers’ duel against the Mets. He drew a walk in the first inning and crossed home on a groundout, then later put the Dodgers ahead with a base hit in the eighth. The 29-year-old outfielder is still looking to get going at the dish, batting .242/.360/.306 with one homer, 13 runs scored, 10 RBI, and three steals across 75 plate appearances.

Tucker drove in Alex Freeland with an RBI single into right field off of Kevin Ginkel, snapping a 4-4 tie and proving to be the difference in the contest. He also drew a walk, swiped a base and struck out twice on the night. Through two games, the superstar outfielder is hitting .286 (2-for-7) with two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base with his new ballclub.

Tucker started out his Dodgers’ tenure with a fielder’s choice, a ground out to first base and a line out to left. He finally got into the fun in the seventh inning, smacking a double up the gap in left center that plated Shohei Ohtani with the Dodgers’ fifth run. He then raced around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Mookie Betts. He’s in perhaps the best lineup spot in all of baseball sandwiched between Ohtani and Betts and should produce stellar fantasy results across the board as long as he manages to stay healthy.

Tucker took journeyman minor leaguer Trey Supak deep in the opening frame for his second round-tripper of the spring. The 29-year-old outfielder sent shockwaves throughout the baseball universe when he signed with the Dodgers in the offseason but it’s undeniably a phenomenal landing spot from a fantasy standpoint. His spot in the heart of the Dodgers’ loaded lineup puts him firmly in the first round of all drafts this spring.

The homer left his bat at 108 mph and was projected at 419 feet. Tucker left the Dodgers for a week for the birth of his child, but he’s never been one to require a ton of spring at-bats. He’s 3-for-12 with six walks at the moment.

Tucker will reportedly be the designated hitter Sunday after missing a little under a week while his wife gave birth to their first chld. The 29-year-old should be back in the outfield in the coming days.

Roberts said he hasn’t made any final decisions. Second and third are the usual spots of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, respectively, which made us think Tucker might open up in the cleanup spot. If Tucker bats second, he’d presumably be followed by Betts and Freeman, but if Tucker bats third behind Betts, it might make sense to slide Freeman down to fifth to separate the lefty bats and use Will Smith in the cleanup spot.

Tucker is getting the highest AAV of all-time, at least once one factors in the extreme deferments in Shohei Ohtani’s $70 million-per-year salary. He’s the third player to sign for exactly $240 million. The other two were Albert Pujols’ 10-year deal with the Angels in 2012 and Robinson Cano’s 10-year pact with the Mariners in 2014. Tucker will step in as the Dodgers’ right fielder, shifting Teoscar Hernández to left. Whether he winds up hitting third, fourth or fifth is still to be determined. As long as he’s third or fourth, he’s probably worth picking in the 10-15 range in spring drafts. It’d be surprising to see him hitting fifth, which would take a toll on his value, but, of course, it is a stacked lineup that he’s joining.

It’s not a surprise, as Tucker is one of — if not the — top overall option available on the open market this winter. The Dodgers consider their outfield to be an area of need, at least relative to their completely stacked roster, so the two sides linking up would seem to make a great deal of sense. If the 28-year-old outfielder is serious about winning, joining a team that has been to two straight World Series while winning at least one of them, seems like a tremendous opportunity.

“We’ll see,” said Tucker when asked about potentially staying in Chicago following Saturday’s season-ending loss to the Brewers in the NLDS. The impending free agent wrapped up his Cubs debut slashing .266/.377/.464 with 91 runs scored, 22 homers, 73 RBI and 25 stolen bases over 136 games. He played through a hairline fracture in his right hand after being diagnosed with the injury back in June, which played a significant role in his second-half slump at the plate. It makes sense for the 28-year-old corner outfielder to test the open market since he’ll be one of the offseason’s most coveted free agents despite a bit of a checkered injury history the past two seasons. He’ll be an early-round selection in all fantasy drafts next spring regardless of where he ends up.

Tucker’s first big fly of the postseason came off Brewers reliever Robert Gasser and gave Chicago a commanding five-run advantage in the late stages of the contest. The 28-year-old fantasy force has notched back-to-back multi-hit efforts after reaching base safely in four of his five plate appearances in this one.

Just as the Padres did, the Cubs’ skipper feels like he has used his best possible lineup in the first two games of the series, so despite a tough loss on Wednesday they’ll roll with the same starting nine in Thursday’s elimination game. Here’s what it will look like against Yu Darvish and the Padres: Michael Busch (1B), Nico Hoerner (2B), Ian Happ (LF), Kyle Tucker (DH), Seiya Suzuki (RF), Carson Kelly (C), Pete Crow-Armstrong (CF), Dansby Swanson (SS), Matt Shaw (3B).

Tucker is back at DH for the second straight contest after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a pair of runs scored on Friday in his return to Chicago’s lineup following a three-week absence due to a calf issue. It’s been a frustrating, injury-marred campaign for the impending free agent, but he remains one of the most productive power/speed combo fantasy contributors, when healthy. The omnipresent durability concerns aren’t going to vanish, but he’ll remain a borderline first-round pick in all drafts next spring, regardless of where he lands this offseason. The Cubs enter their penultimate regular-season contest having already clinched a postseason berth. They need one additional win or a Padres loss to lock up the top NL Wild Card spot.

Tucker, returning from a strained calf, is DHing and batting cleanup Friday in his first appearance since Sept. 2. Carlos Santana was sent down to make room for him. Moisés Ballesteros, who has been doing much of the DHing of late, heads back to the bench today.

“I think we’re trending toward Kyle playing this weekend,” Counsell said. The 28-year-old outfielder has been out of action since September 6 because of his calf strain, and while his injury updates have — once again — but frustrating, it does sound like his left-handed bat will be because for Chicago before the start of the postseason.

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but a team is unclear about when Tucker will be able to return to the field as he manages an injury. The Athletic’s Patrick Mooney reports that Tucker “continued agility work on the bases before Tuesday’s” game against the Mets. After the game, Tucker said, “There’s probably a few more boxes that I got to check off before everyone’s comfortable with me going out there. Myself, the coaching staff, training staff and everyone, we just got to work through that the next couple days and try to get back out there as soon as possible.” That makes it seem as though any possible return during the regular season is unlikely, and there could even be a chance that Tucker isn’t ready on Monday, which would be Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Round.

Tucker headed to Tampa last week to seek additional treatment for his calf. After multiple sessions of additional physical therapy, he will travel to Chicago on Monday and then be reevaluated before Tuesday’s game at Wrigley Field. Cubs manager Craig Counsell “is essentially ruling Tucker out of that night’s lineup,” but Tucker could conceivably return at the end of this week if he’s able to begin running.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that Tucker’s recovery has “plateaued,” so he is going, with members of the Cubs medical staff, to try and find additional treatment options. That’s never a great sign, and while the Cubs outwardly have expressed optimism that Tucker will rejoin the team next week, it’s hard to have confidence that we’ll see him back on the field for any meaningful action this fantasy season.

Tucker has resumed hitting and fielding, but the outfielder won’t begin a running program until the weekend. The 28-year-old should be back before the end of the regular season and help the Cubs in their presumed playoff push, as well.

Finally. There was some optimism that Tucker would make it back to Chicago’s lineup early this week based on comments from Cubs manager Craig Counsell over the weekend, but he simply didn’t make enough progress to avoid a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old fantasy stalwart figures to make it back when first eligible to return, but that’s hardly a lock considering how glacial his rehabilitation progress has been since suffering the injury earlier this month.

There was some optimism that Tucker would make it back to Chicago’s lineup early this week based on comments from Cubs manager Craig Counsell over the weekend. The 28-year-old fantasy stalwart remains on the bench as he continues to battle a lingering left calf issue. It’s a perplexing situation for fantasy managers, but there’s been no indication the Cubs are considering sending him to the injured list.
