Vesia will get a $1.25 million raise after amassing a 3.02 ERA in 59 2/3 innings last season. The 29-year-old would have been eligible for arbitration for the last time had the option been declined.

According to a team statement, Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife navigate a deeply personal family matter. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters he’s unsure whether he’ll be available for the World Series. The 29-year-old left-hander has allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings over seven appearances this postseason. His absence leaves a significant hole in Los Angeles’ high-leverage mix. It’s possible Tanner Scott (lower body) will be ready to take his spot on the World Series roster as a left-handed option.

It’s Vesia’s fifth save of the year and first in five appearances since coming off the injured list last week. He’s not guaranteed anything, but those desperate for saves could take a flier on him for the final seven or 10 days.

Vesia returns to Los Angeles’ struggling high-leverage mix ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Rockies at Dodger Stadium. The 29-year-old southpaw has been a key cog in the club’s late-inning playbook with four saves to accompany a solid 2.75 ERA across 52 1/3 innings over 59 appearances. He’s been out since late August due to an oblique strain.

No word yet on how much time Vesia is going to miss, but it figures to be a multi-week absence, even if the strain is on the milder end of the spectrum. The 29-year-old lefty has posted a strong 2.75 ERA and 69/18 K/BB ratio across 52 1/3 innings (59 appearances).

Vesia was called upon with runners at second and third and one out in the eighth inning with the Dodgers clinging to a one-run lead. He got Jose Iglesias to ground out to short, but Xander Bogaerts scampered home with the tying run. He then got Freddy Fermin to ground out to end the inning. Vesia then returned for the ninth after Mookie Betts’ clubbed a go-ahead solo homer in the home half of the eighth, and he retired the heart of the Padres’ lineup in order to secure his victory. On the season, the 29-year-old southpaw boasts a 2.81 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 67/18 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings to go along with three victories and four saves.

Brought in with a with a 3-2 lead, Vesia gave up three singles to tie the game, with the go-ahead run scoring because of an Alex Freeland throwing error on the last hit (Andy Pages tried and failed to throw the runner out at third from center and then Freeland fired the ball into right field trying to get the batter running to second). Vesia prevented further scoring, but the damage was done. It’s just his second blown save to go along with four saves and 21 holds, and it’s his first loss. As a candidate for saves, he’s still worth using in mixed leagues while Tanner Scott is out.

It’s Vesia’s first save since Tanner Scott went down. He should remain very much in the mix for saves, unless maybe the Dodgers add a true closer at the deadline. Still, he probably won’t be available Wednesday after working back-to-back days, opening the door for Kirby Yates or Blake Treinen to pitch the ninth. Vesia has a 2.42 ERA in 44 2/3 innings this season.

The Dodgers had Tanner Scott, who earned a save Monday, face the heart of the order while up 4-2 in the eighth today, leaving the bottom of the lineup for Vesia in the ninth, and Vesia wound up striking out Jake Cronenworth, Tyler Wade and Elias Díaz for the save. Vesia is definitely behind his fellow lefty in line for saves right now, but he’s still an option in deeper leagues.

Vesia got his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth, and while he did allow one hit, he was able to get Cody Bellinger, Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt out. It’s not a guarantee that Vesia will get more save chances, but with Tanner Scott struggling — he did get one out in the eighth inning in Friday’s win — it’s feasible Vesia could see looks in the ninth. It’s something to monitor, anyway.
