Vaughn will get a couple rehab games under his belt before returning to Milwaukee’s lineup in early May. The 28-year-old underwent surgery to repair a hamate fracture last month.

Fans of the Sounds will get a chance to see both Vaughn and Jackson Chourio (hand) in the lineup beginning Wednesday. Both will likely need a handful of games before being ready to return, but two of the more important hitters in the Milwaukee lineup have a chance to be back with the Brewers relatively early in May.

The 28-year-old slugger has a follow-up appointment scheduled on Tuesday where he’s hopeful to gain clearance to begin a minor league rehab assignment. It sounds like he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery and the Brewers are hopeful that he’ll be able to return in mid-May. He could be worth a stash in any deeper mixed leagues where he may have been dropped.

This likely means that Vaughn is working on his conditioning or even tracking pitches in the cages. The Brewers have said that they expect him back in mid-May, and he seems to be on track for that.

Vaughn will now begin his post-operation rehab. The Brewers believe that the 27-year-old will be back with the Brewers in the middle of May, although that ETA obviously could differ based on how things go in that rehab. In the meantime, it’ll be Jake Bauers who gets most of the reps at first base, with Gary Sanchez getting those starts against lefties.

Vaughn is expected to miss 4–6 weeks after he undergoes hamate surgery on Monday. He suffered the injury during Thursday’s season-opening rout of the White Sox. The 27-year-old former third-overall pick hit .308 with nine homers in 64 games for Milwaukee last year to emerge as their everyday first baseman. It’s a significant loss for the Brewers since he’ll likely be sidelined until at least early May. It’ll be some combination of Gary Sánchez and Jake Bauers taking over at the cold corner with prospect Jeferson Quero coming up to fortify Milwaukee’s catching depth.

Vaughn made an early exit from Thursday’s one-sided win over the White Sox, which didn’t raise any alarm bells given the timing and score. However, it appears he’s dealing with some sort of hand issue, which is why prospect Jeferson Quero is being brought up from Triple-A Nashville to provide additional flexibility at first base. It’s a troubling development after Vaughn put together a strong spring but it doesn’t sound like he’s headed to the injured list. The positive news is that star backstop William Contreras is healthy. It’ll likely be Gary Sánchez seeing additional time at the cold corner if Vaughn needs to sit.

Vaughn led off the second inning with a single but was doubled off of first on a line drive. He then smacked a run-scoring double off of Brooks Kriske in the sixth inning that trimmed the Brewers’ deficit to five runs at 7-2. The 27-year-old slugger has picked up this spring right where he left off during his strong second half with the Brewers in 2025, hitting .400 (12-for-30) with a pair of long balls and six RBI.

It’s the second roundtripper of the spring for Vaughn. The infielder really impressed in his 64 games with the Brew Crew in 2025 with a .308/.375/.493 slash, and while it’s understandable to be skeptical based on his inconsistency, it’s easy to forget this was the third-overall pick in 2019. It’s very feasible — but far from a lock — that Vaughn can replicate similar numbers in 2026.

Vaughn was a slam-dunk non-tender when his White Sox career ended last summer, but then he went on to hit .308/.375/.493 with nine homers in 64 games with the Brewers. He’ll probably open up as the team’s everyday first baseman in his next-to-last year before free agency.

Vaughn’s RBI single in the first inning put the Brewers up 3-0 and he scored in the third inning to make it 7-0. The 27-year-old first baseman has three games with at least three hits in his last seven games. He’s hitting .248 with a .705 OPS and 60 RBI this year.

The 27-year-old slugger gave the Brewers their best shot at scoring in the game — smacking a one-out double off of Suarez after William Contreras had walked to open the sixth inning. The next three hitters were unable to cash either of those runs in though. With his three-hit attack, Vaughn is now slashing .296/.361/.497 with nine homers and 40 RBI in just 192 plate appearances since joining the Brewers.

Vaughn cooled off from his hot streak to the point where the Brewers moved him out of the cleanup spot in the lineup. The 27-year-old first baseman was back hitting fourth on Friday and wound up with a three-hit game and two RBI. Vaughn is hitting .240 with a .694 OPS and 59 RBI on the year.

Vaughn has been moved out of the cleanup spot on a handful of recent occasions as he’s a bit of a rough patch of late, batting .218 (12-for-55) with two homers and 10 RBI over his last 15 games. The 27-year-old kicked off his Milwaukee tenure on an absolute heater, but he’s cooled off considerably over his last few games.

Vaughn drove in William Contreras with an RBI single off of Jameson Taillon in the opening inning that gave the Brewers an early 1-0 advantage. That would be their lone tally in the contest. The 27-year-old slugger finished the evening 1-for-4 and is now hitting .243/.290/.424 with 14 homers and 55 RBI in 335 plate appearances on the season.

Vaughn’s home run was his 14th this year and ninth in 29 games since joining the Brewers. The 27-year-old is enjoying one of the better redemption arcs since going from one of the worst teams in base to one of the best. A former third-overall pick, Vaughn is still going to have to put up more than just one good month to prove he’s legitimate.

Vaughn continues to impress since being traded from Chicago to the Brew Crew, and he took Ryan Borucki deep for his 13th homer of the season with eight of those coming as a member of the Brewers. Vaughn has shown flashes of this ability since being the third-overall pick, and while there’s reason to be skeptical, it’s not totally insane to believe he’s a version of this player.

The Brewers simply will not stop. They are the first team in baseball to reach 70 wins and they’re doing so with a cast of misfit characters that no one could have guessed would be providing this level of production. Vaughn is in the middle of it all. His homer in the fourth inning gave them a lead they’d never give back, but it was truly a hit-parade against Braves’ starter Spencer Strider that chased him before he could complete five innings. Nevertheless, Vaughn has been one of the best stories in baseball since coming to the Brewers from the White Sox with seven home runs, 28 RBI, a .377 batting average, and 1.145 OPS across 22 games after being considered a colossal bust in Chicago. This Brewers organization can do no wrong at the moment.

Vaughn delivered a two-out, two-run single off of Joey Wentz in the third inning that capped off a four-run uprising in the frame and would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. He also worked Austin Cox for a walk that loaded the bases in the seventh inning. He has been on a tear since joining the Brewers and is slowly bringing his overall season slash back to respectability — hitting .240/.284/.415 with 11 homers and 45 RBI.

Vaughn plated Jackson Chourio with a sacrifice fly in the third inning that gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish. He then added on with an RBI single in the fifth inning and put the game out of reach with a 409-foot grand slam off of Ryan Pressly in the sixth that made it 9-2. He has been sizzling at the dish since joining the Brewers and is now slashing .227/.268/.408 overall with 10 homers and 40 RBI across 250 plate appearances at the big league level this season.

Vaughn had two hits against the Marlins, but his biggest hit came in the bottom of the eighth inning. With the Brewers down by a run and two outs, Vaughn’s double tied the game 2-2. He’s hitting .217 with a .633 OPS and 33 RBI this year, but .341/.417/.659 in 41 at-bats since joining the Brewers.

Vaughn also doubled and scored another run in a solid outing for the first baseman, albeit in a loss. Since being acquired by the Brew Crew from the White Sox, he’s now slashing .324/.409/.649. That’s a sample of just 12 games, but it’s nice to be reminded of why Vaughn was such a highly-touted prospect coming out of the 2019 MLB Draft, and he’s still just 27.

Vaughn singled off of Clayton Kershaw in the opening inning but was left stranded there. He then drew a leadoff walk to open the fourth inning and scored the game’s first run on a throwing error by Tommy Edman. He also singled in the fifth and drew another walk in the sixth inning. Vaughn looked rejuvenated in a Brewers’ uniform and is now hitting .391 (9-for-23) with a pair of homers and 12 RBI in his first eight games with his new ballclub.

Vaughn has been sizzling-hot since making his Milwaukee debut earlier this week, batting .429 (6-for-14) with two homers and 10 RBI through five games. The 27-year-old former top prospect won’t sustain this astronomical level of production for long, but he’s going to get a legitimate opportunity to play everyday for Milwaukee with Rhys Hoskins (thumb) likely out until at least mid-August. It’ll be Jake Bauers taking over at the cold corner on Sunday afternoon.

Vaughn’s Brewers career couldn’t be off to a better start, as he’s driven in runs in all five games since debuting Monday. He had a total of eight doubles in 52 games this season before his two liners today. He would have scored the winning run, too, but the Brewers had Andruw Monasterio pinch-run for him before Caleb Durbin’s single (which would have been at least a double) ended it.

Vaughn’s home run was his seventh of the year and second with the Brewers. The 27-year-old first baseman hit a solo shot off Luis Garcia in the seventh inning. Vaughn is still competing with Jake Bauers for at-bats while Rhys Hoskins is on the injured list, making him a fringe option at best in fantasy leagues.

Vaughn was recalled from Triple-A on Monday when Rhys Hoskins was placed on the injured list and has gone 2-for-7 with a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI in his first two games. Still, it appears that he will split time with Jake Bauers against right-handed pitching. Bauers was on the bench for the last two games but will start at first base and bat eighth against Tyler Glasnow on Wednesday.

Vaughn smacked an RBI single off of Clayton Kershaw in the fourth inning that got the Brewers on the board and tied the score at one run apiece. He also drew a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in two of his four plate appearances. On the season, he’s hitting .195/.230/.332 with six homers and 23 RBI.

Vaughn hit a ball 409 feet to left to make a spectacular first impression for his new team. He also walked and scored a second run before, oddly, being pinch-hit for by Jake Bauers with a righty on the mound in the seventh (oddly because Vaughn got the nod over Bauers against a righty in the first place). The homer was Vaughn’s sixth in 49 major league games this season. He’ll definitely be back in there tomorrow with the Dodgers starting a lefty.
