Williamson returns to the minors after Seattle finalized their blockbuster trade to bring Eugenio Suárez back to the Pacific Northwest. The 24-year-old rookie figures to spend the final two months back at the Triple-A level for some additional seasoning.

Williamson singled twice while picking up his third steal of 2025. The rookie third baseman has shown no power whatsoever, but a .259 average does show that he’s holding his own while playing excellent defense at the hot corner.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 24-year-old infielder. Williamson has hit an uninspiring .257/.293/.322 with just one homer, 15 RBI, two stolen bases and a 59/11 K/BB ratio over 243 plate appearances for the Mariners this season. Miles Mastrobuoni will start in his place at the hot corner and bat ninth for the Mariners against Yankees’ right-hander Marcus Stroman on Thursday.

Williamson smashed a double to right-center with two outs to score Jorge Polanco and give Seattle a 1-0 lead. It’d be the last run for either team. Williamson has helped the Mariners immensely with the glove and his .256 average isn’t horrible, but there’s just no power in his bat as seen in his .318 slugging percentage.

Williamson woke up with back spasms on Sunday morning and the Mariners didn’t want to take any chances with an afternoon game. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

No word yet on the reason for the move. It’ll be Miles Mastrobuoni taking over at the hot corner with Leo Rivas at the keystone. The 24-year-old rookie has gotten off to an exceptional start in the big leagues, hitting .310 (13-for-42) with one homer and seven RBI through 11 games. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Williamson continues to impress, and he has a new career-high in RBI with the four Saturday evening. The pair of hits now has him slashing .310/.356/.429 on the year, and he’s been excellent with the glove as expected. He doesn’t have much power, but Williamson’s bat-to-ball skills make him someone to keep an eye on in formats with a shallower pool.

Williamson’s homer knocked José Berríos out of the game in the seventh. The 24-year-old has started four of six games since his callup Sunday and gone 5-for-20 to date. Outside of deep AL-only leagues, there shouldn’t be any fantasy value here.

Williamson gets the call to the big leagues for the first time in his career after spending the last couple seasons in Seattle’s system. The 24-year-old infielder was a second-round selection in the 2023 MLB Draft and was off to a nice start for Triple-A Tacoma, hitting .281 (16-for-57) with eight RBI and two steals in 14 games. He gives the Mariners some extra infield depth with Ryan Bliss (biceps) out for the season and Jorge Polanco limited to DH duty.
