Woo came out of the bullpen to protect a two-run lead in the fifth inning and needed just 28 pitches to navigate two scoreless frames. His most impressive moment came when he fanned Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on a hard-biting sweeper following a nine-pitch battle. Things unraveled in the ensuing frame when he issued a leadoff walk to Addison Barger and a single to light-hitting Isiah Kiner-Falefa before being lifted with one out. He was charged with both runs when teammate Eduard Bazardo served up a go-ahead homer to George Springer.

They’d be on two days’ rest after Woo threw 28 pitches and Miller threw 56 in Game 5 on Friday. Woo, who was making his first appearance in nearly four weeks after recovering from pectoral inflammation, would seem to be far more likely than Miller to pitch in the game, with Miller perhaps becoming more of an option if extra innings are involved. The Mariners will have George Kirby start the game, with Game 4 starter Luis Castillo also surely available to take over at any point.

Woo, returning from pectoral inflammation, could start ALCS Game 5 for the Mariners, perhaps working in tandem with Bryce Miller. It’d be Woo’s first appearance since Sept. 19, when he threw five scoreless innings against the Astros.

That should rule Woo out for the first three games of the series, at least. The Mariners are probably targeting a Game 5 start for the right-handers, unless maybe things get crazy tonight and they opt to pitch Logan Gilbert or Luis Castillo in relief again.

Woo’s return provides a massive lift for Seattle’s rotation mix for the best-of-seven series against Toronto after missing the ALDS recovering from pectoral inflammation. It’s unclear when he’ll take the ball during the extended series, but Mariners manager Dan Wilson should provide an update at some point prior to Game 1. The 25-year-old ace posted a spectacular 2.94 ERA across a career-high 186 2/3 innings over 30 starts during the regular season. The only other changes for the Mariners involve versatile Miles Mastrobuoni joining their bench mix with Luke Raley and rookie Ben Williamson being left off.

It sounds like Woo be available until later on in the upcoming ALCS showdown against the Blue Jays based on Dipoto’s comments following Seattle’s series-clinching win over the Tigers. However, his impending return provides a significant lift to Seattle’s rotation mix. The 25-year-old ace, who completed a bullpen session prior to Friday’s exhilarating 15-inning winner-take-all affair, has been sidelined since the start of the postseason recovering from pectoral inflammation.

Woo, 27, was unavailable in the ALDS because of his pectoral issue, but the right-hander will have a chance to be a key cog in the pitching staff for Seattle if they’re able to advance to face the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old could be an option — assuming the bullpen goes well, of course — in Game 1 or Game 2 of that series.

It’s a significant loss for Seattle’s pitching staff heading into a best-of-five series against the Tigers as Woo remains sidelined heading into the postseason while continuing to recover from pectoral inflammation that sidelined him at the conclusion of the regular season. There was optimism the 25-year-old ace would be ready for the ALDS, but it sounds like he’s going to get some additional time off. It’ll likely fall on Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo to step up in his absence behind Logan Gilbert and George Kirby.

Nothing official from the Mariners yet. It would be a significant loss for Seattle’s pitching staff heading into a best-of-five series against the Tigers if Woo remains sidelined while continuing to recover from right pectoral inflammation that sidelined him at the conclusion of the regular season. There was optimism the 25-year-old ace would be ready for the ALDS, but it sounds like he’s going to get some additional time off. It’ll likely fall on Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo to step up in his absence behind Logan Gilbert and George Kirby.

Mariners’ pitching coach Pete Woodworth was right there looking in on the session, and all appeared to go well for the 25-year-old right-hander. Woo then proceeded to face a couple of live hitters in a simulated game. He’ll still need to make it through another bullpen session before he’s cleared to return, but it sounds like he should be good to start in either Game 3 or Game 4 against either the Tigers or Guardians.

Woo won’t face hitters during that session. Mariners manager Dan Wilson said the team is optimistic that Woo will be part of the ALDS roster, but the team wants him to throw off the mound at least twice before making a postseason start. That means he likely won’t pitch the first two games in Seattle, and would be an option for Game 3 or 4 on the road against the Tigers or Guardians.

It’s the first time that Woo has thrown since suffering right pectoral inflammation during his last start. While he’s still taking things day-to-day, it sounds like the Mariners are optimistic that he’ll be ready to take the mound when his spot in the rotation comes up during the postseason.

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Tuesday that Woo has responded well to treatment and will resume throwing later this week before determining his next steps. The 25-year-old fantasy ace was diagnosed with right pectoral inflammation after undergoing a precautionary MRI over the weekend that didn’t reveal any structural damage. It sounds like there’s optimism he’ll be ready to take the ball at some point in the postseason, should Seattle hang onto the AL West division title or a Wild Card playoff berth.

It’s certainly encouraging news after Woo underwent a precautionary MRI that didn’t reveal any structural damage. The Mariners will wait and see how he responds over the next couple of days before determining whether or not he’ll require a trip to the injured list and when he may be able to take the mound once again. It sounds like there’s a chance he’s ready to take the ball in the postseason should Seattle make it there.

He’s currently being evaluated to determine the severity of the issue. The good news is that it doesn’t appear to be anything arm-related, which was the concern when he was removed after throwing an awkward warm-up pitch prior to the sixth inning on Friday. That Mariners should have a clearer picture of his status on Saturday.

Woo will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the issue. The positive news is that it doesn’t appear to be anything directly arm-related, which was the major concern when he was removed after throwing an awkward warm-up pitch prior to the sixth inning on Friday night. That Mariners should have a clearer picture of his status at some point this weekend once he undergoes further evaluation and imaging. He’s in jeopardy of missing his final regular-season start on Thursday against the Rockies and his postseason availability is also up in the air.

Woo had been dominating, allowing just one hit and one walk over five scoreless innings while striking out seven. His pitch count sat at just 67 pitches heading into the sixth, but he felt something while throwing a warm-up pitch between innings that prompted a visit from the training staff and manager Dan Wilson and the decision was ultimately made to pull him. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the extent of the issue. Stay tuned.

Although he has a career 24 percent strikeout rate, Woo had never fanned more than nine batters in a game until racking up 13 tonight. He had 23 whiffs, and he allowed just two hard-hit balls, with one of those unfortunately turning into a two-run homer for Jo Adell. Woo will take a 14-7 record and a 3.02 ERA into a big start against the Astros next weekend.

Woo once again tied his career-high in strikeouts with the nine, and it’s the fifth time he’s reached that mark in 2025. The only runs allowed came on a fastball that leaked over the plate to Alec Burleson in the fourth inning. Woo has been outstanding for the overwhelming majority of 2025, and he has a deserved 13-7 record — he maybe deserves even better — with an ERA of 3.02 over 175 2/3 innings along with a K/BB of 178/34. Assuming the rotation order doesn’t change, he’ll face off against the Angels at home Saturday.

Woo uncharacteristically issued a season-high three walks in the ballgame while striking out three. After going six innings of more in each of his first 25 starts to begin the season, Woo has now fell short of that mark in each of his last two outings. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 3.02 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 169/34 K/BB ratio (169 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals.

Woo’s remarkable streak of 25 consecutive starts completing at least six innings and allowing two earned runs or fewer came to a close in this one. He did enough to pick up his 12th win of the season, limiting San Diego’s formidable offense to just a pair of sixth-inning runs. He struck out six and only issued one walk. The 25-year-old rising star will bring a sparkling 2.95 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 166/31 K/BB ratio across 164 2/3 innings (26 starts) into a tough road tilt on Tuesday against the Rays at hitter-friendly George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Woo didn’t allow a hit and just two walks after surrendering a solo homer to Brent Rooker in the first. The 25-year-old now gone at least six innings in every start this year, and easily could have pitched into the eighth as he left after throwing just 86 pitches. He walked two and struck out seven in yet-another impressive outing for the right-hander. Woo will look to make 26 consecutive six-plus inning outings against the Padres next week.

Woo stranded two runners in the first inning, then surrendered a run on a single and a double in the third. He’d settle in for three more scoreless frames, collecting eight strikeouts on the day. The 25-year-old right-hander has gone at least six innings in all 24 starts this season. Woo will take a 3.02 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 153/28 K/BB ratio across 152 innings into a start against the Athletics in Seattle on Friday.

Woo piled up nine strikeouts on the day while issuing only one base on balls. Ha-Seong Kim was responsible for most of the damage done against him, with an RBI double in the second inning and a solo shot in the fourth. Woo has now completed six innings or more in each of his first 23 starts on the season. He generated 17 swings and misses on 99 offerings on the day — 12 of them on his fastball alone — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll bring an impressive 3.08 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 145/26 K/BB ratio (146 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Mets in New York.

Woo was brilliant against the White Sox on Tuesday. He surrendered a solo homer to Lenyn Sosa in the first inning, then settled in for six more scoreless innings. He allowed just one more hit in the game and did not walk a batter while collecting nine strikeouts. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 3.02 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 136/25 K/BB ratio across 140 innings into a start against the Rays in Seattle on Sunday.

Woo has been one of the best pitchers in baseball in 2025, and he’d dominated the A’s in the past. Neither of those things mattered Wednesday. He allowed a whopping four homers in the start, with two of those allowed to Miguel Andujar. He was able to work at least six innings for the 22nd start in a row, but again, that doesn’t mean much when you allow four homers. Woo will be back on the bump and very likely rebound versus the White Sox next week.

Woo allowed both of his runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Jo Adell. The right-hander was exceptional from that point on while allowing just four hits in the outing with a pair of walks. Wood has now pitched at least six innings in every start this season, and it hasn’t been just quantity as seen in his 2.91 ERA. He’ll have a chance to keep the good run going against the Athletics on Wednesday.

The All-Star right-hander punched out six batters on the day while issuing only one base on balls. He kept the Astros off the board completely through the first four innings, but they got to him for three runs in the fifth including a two-run double off the bat of Cam Smith. Woo then served up a pair of solo homers to Christian Walker and Taylor Trammell in the sixth. He got 15 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 2.91 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 115/22 K/BB ratio (120 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Angels in Los Angeles.
