The Astros have been playing Melton only four days a week in the minors as they manage an earlier groin injury, and it seems like that’s the plan at the big league level too. Astros GM Dana Brown said, “He’s probably going to come up here and face right-handers, gives us that left-hand bat we’ve been looking for. We don’t have to play him here every day, but we’re gradually going to break him in and see what he can do.” A strong stretch could earn Melton more playing time, but with Jake Meyers, Jose Altuve, and Cam Smith also in the outfield, we would not bank on Melton earning a full-time role soon.

Melton gets his first opportunity in the majors with Zach Dezenzo landing on the shelf with hand inflammation. The 24-year-old’s prospect stock has slipped a bit over the past year since he hasn’t exactly torn the cover off the ball in the upper minors during that span. He possesses a little bit of power/speed combination upside, which makes him interesting for fantasy purposes. The big question is whether the Astros will let him play enough to make a difference, even in deeper mixed leagues.

It’ll be the first major league callup for Melton, who has hit .254/.371/.508 in 17 games for Triple-A Sugar Land in between injuries this season. A fine prospect, he’s probably not ready to stick in the majors just yet. Still, the Astros need the help with Dezenzo potentially joining Chas McCormick and Yordan Alvarez on the IL.

Carlos Narváez has been great for the Red Sox, but Wilson is going to run away with AL Rookie of the Year honors if this keeps up. He’s 15-for-33 in his last nine games, and he pushed his OPS back over .900 today for the first time since mid-April.

Wilson also drew a walk. The 23-year-old has not slowed down in the average category at all, and he’s now slashing an excellent .342/.383/.474 that is even more impressive when you consider it’s his first full season of baseball. Even if the power never comes, this version of Wilson is a pretty solid fantasy option.

Not great. Wilson appeared to be in a great deal of pain after being hit by a pitch in the third inning and was eventually lifted for a pinch-hitter a couple frames later. The 23-year-old rookie sensation, who is hitting .341 with five homers and four steals through 47 games this season, will presumably head for precautionary X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an additional update on his status ahead of Wednesday’s game.

Wilson has received some additional opportunities to lead off against right-handed pitching, with Lawrence Butler being moved down the lower half of the order, over the past week and he’ll occupy the table-setting role for Saturday’s contest with left-hander Carlos Rodón toeing the rubber for New York. The 23-year-old rookie is hitting .354/.379/.469 with three homers, 22 RBI and one steal through 37 games.

Wilson supplanted Lawrence Butler today, and it doesn’t seem like he’ll make his way down from the top of the lineup anytime soon, though he could always bat second, rather than first. The four hits today pushed his average up to .357, good for second in the majors. Unfortunately, he did experience a rare strikeout against Andrés Muñoz in his fifth at-bat, ending the game with the tying run on first.

Wilson picked up three hits in the contest, and all of them were run-scoring singles. The latter two were the big ones, as he tied the game at 6-6 with a single off Andrés Muñoz in the 10th, and an inning later, he pushed a single past a drawn-in infield for the game-winner. Wilson is now hitting .341/.363/.462, and while the exit velocities aren’t impressive, there’s no denying his contact skills — with more pop than anticipated — are elite.

Wilson chipped in a two-out RBI single off of Hoby Milner in the seventh inning that extended the A’s lead to 2-0. The 23-year-old infielder has looked outstanding at the plate to open the 2025 season, slashing .331/.347/.458 with three homers, 16 RBI and a stolen base.

Wilson’s power showing over spring training have carried over into the regular season, and while there’s a long way to go, it’s a big boost to fantasy player’s confidence. It should be, anyway. The 23-year-old isn’t draw ing many free passes, but a .347/.354/.500 slash is awfully hard to complain about. Wilson will see some regression in the power numbers, but the bat-to-ball skills will always make him a threat for a high average.

With the score tied at 3-3, Wilson singled home Luis Urias to give the A’s the victory. The 23-year-old shortstop has been excellent over the first month of the season, as he’s now hitting .330/.337/.457 on the 2025 campaign. Some more patience would be nice — and maybe a few more thefts as well — but Wilson has shown he’s more than a one-category player. At least so far.

Wilson has recorded at least one hit in 16 of 17 contests to open the season and is hitting .333 (22-for-66) with two homers and eight RBI. The 23-year-old contact-oriented rookie has yet to draw a free pass, but he’s struck out on three times during that span. He’ll get his first day off on Wednesday night with fellow rookie Max Muncy taking over at shortstop.

Wilson was bumped up to the leadoff spot on Saturday with Lawrence Butler getting a rare day off and extended his season-opening hitting streak to 15 consecutive games. The 23-year-old top prospect has been a revelation this season, but simply lacks the elite power/speed combo ceiling to overtake Butler for the leadoff role. It’s possible he’ll challenge him in the future. However, it’s not really much of a debate at this early stage of his career, especially considering how teams are now approaching the spot and prioritizing getting their most impactful hitters as many at-bats as possible.
