    Recap

Jordan Wicks recorded his first save of the season on Sunday, working three scoreless innings to protect a two-run lead against the Cardinals.

Wicks scattered just three hits on the day while punching out four batters. He got eight whiffs in just 41 pitches on the afternoon — four of them on his changeup — while registering an elite CSW of 39 percent. The 26-year-old southpaw finishes the regular season with a 6.28 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings in eight appearances. It remains to be seen if he’ll find his way onto the Cubs’ postseason roster.

Cubs recalled LHP Jordan Wicks from the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Wicks returns to the majors for the final weekend of the regular season with Cubs rookie standout Cade Horton heading to the injured list with a fractured rib. The 26-year-old southpaw has posted a lackluster 7.94 ERA across 11 1/3 innings over seven appearances this season at the highest level. He’ll operate in low-leverage situations if he winds up making Chicago’s playoff roster.

Cubs recalled RHP Jordan Wicks from Triple-A Iowa.

It’s unclear if this will be a straight swap with Wicks replacing Javier Assad in the Cubs’ rotation, or if he’s just up to add length to the Cubs’ bullpen for a few days. Wicks has registered a 9.72 ERA, 2.40 WHIP and an 8/1 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings.

Jordan Wicks will serve as the 27th player for Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Brewers

Wicks provides the Cubs with some additional length out of the bullpen for the second contest of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Brewers with Jameson Taillon making his first start back from the injured list. He’ll head back to Triple-A Iowa at the conclusion of the night.

Jordan Wicks allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

Wicks didn’t walk a batter and struck out four while throwing 41 of his 59 pitches for strikes. Since being sent back to Triple-A, the left-hander has allowed three earned runs on eight hits in 13 innings while striking out 14 and walking four. He might still be a better bet in the Cubs’ rotation than Ben Brown.

Cubs recalled RHP Jordan Wicks from Triple-A Iowa.

Wicks had been sharp in three appearances for Iowa since returning from injury, allowing two runs and posting a 16/2 K/BB in 11 innings. He’s not officially sliding into the Cubs’ rotation, but he’ll probably work multiple innings in what was scheduled to be a Jameson Taillon start Saturday, and he’s worth keeping an eye on.

Jordan Wicks returned to the mound for Triple-A Iowa on Thursday and pitched three scoreless innings in his first appearance in four weeks.

He allowed one hit, walked none and struck out four. Wicks had been on the IL since leaving his May 24 start. The Cubs never said what the injury was, but based on how he exited that last outing, it didn’t seem to be arm related.

Cubs optioned LHP Jordan Wicks to Triple-A Iowa.

The move seemingly paves the way for the Cubs to acquire lefty Drew Pomeranz from the Mariners, as first reported by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. That deal isn’t official yet, but Wicks removal from the active roster clears a spot ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Dodgers.

Cubs recalled LHP Jordan Wicks from Triple-A Iowa.

After giving up five runs in 9 2/3 innings in two starts for Iowa, Wicks was moved to the pen for his last appearances and pitched three perfect innings with five strikeouts. He’s set to work in middle relief for now, though if he does go long this weekend, he might quickly be swapped out for a fresh arm.
