Winn’s double was a grounder down the third base line that Brice Matthews had no chance to play with the infield in. It gave Winn both his first three-hit and three-RBI games of the year. He’s hit in six straight games, raising his average from .154 to .222.

Winn’s exit velocity numbers haven’t been very good so far, but he hit a ball 373 feet off Lance McCullers Jr. tonight, and he’s now at.190/.319/.293 in 69 plate appearances overall. There was the hope of some mixed league value here when the Cardinals spent most of the spring letting him leadoff, but with JJ Wetherholt overtaking him there and Winn batting sixth for the most part, there’s nothing cooking right now.

Winn returns to shortstop and will bat sixth following a two-game absence over the weekend after being hit by a pitch just below his right knee during Friday’s game against the Red Sox. The 24-year-old has been snake-bitten by minor injuries during the early portion of the year, but hasn’t missed too much time.

Winn was removed from Friday’s game after being hit by a pitch just below his right knee. He sat out Saturday’s game as a precautionary measure and it sounds like he needs at least another day before he’ll be ready to return to action. The encouraging news for fantasy managers is that it doesn’t sound like he’ll require a trip to the injured list. Thomas Saggese will take his place at shortstop once again on Sunday and will bat eighth against Brayan Bello and the Red Sox.

Winn is getting some extra time off to rest and recover following an early exit fro, Friday’s game after being hit by a pitch just below his right knee. The 24-year-old shortstop has been diagnosed with a lower leg contusion and isn’t expected to require a lengthy absence. Thomas Saggese takes over at shortstop in his absence.

Winn was diagnosed with a bruise on his right fibula head, just below his knee. While he was moving around alright after Friday’s game, he was dealing with some soreness and swelling and still had it wrapped up. It’s possible he could get an extra day off on Saturday to be on the safe side, but he shouldn’t be looking at any sort of extended absence.

Winn winds up being a late addition to St. Louis’ lineup after making it through his pregame routine without any issues. The 24-year-old shortstop returns following a brief two-game absence recovering from a lingering hip issue. A slow start to the season has probably cost him the leadoff spot to rookie sensation JJ Wetherholt but moving to the bottom of the order should translate to additional stolen base opportunities.

Winn will miss another game after exiting Friday’s matchup versus Detroit with tightness in his hip. He’s still considered day-to-day, but he’ll at least begin Sunday’s contest on the bench with Thomas Saggese getting the start at short and hitting sixth.

No surprise here after Winn left Friday’s series opener in Detroit with hip tightness. The 24-year-old shortstop attributed the issue to overdoing it with his swing in an effort to break out of season-opening slump earlier this week prior to Wednesday evening’s car accident. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern but fantasy managers should keep a close eye on the situation this weekend. It’ll be rookie sensation JJ Wetherholt leading off with Thomas Saggese taking over at shortstop in his absence.

Cardinals beat writers noted that Winn struggled to run out a ground ball in his plate appearance in the fifth inning and Oliver Marmol said after the game that he left due to hip tightness. All eyes were on Winn after his car accident following Wednesday’s walkoff over the Mets, but he told reporters after the game that he felt his hip Tuesday evening, before the accident, and “probably overdid it.” Winn gutted through injury all last year and figures to get a day off this weekend to try to calm his hip down.

Winn hydroplaned on wet pavement and bounced off barriers on both sides of the road. May called the Cardinals trainers, and Gorman called team security. Winn did briefly wind up in the hospital, but he’s obviously fine. Winn has been batting fourth against righties, but he’s leading off today against a lefty with JJ Wetherholt sitting.

It was a single-car accident blamed on wet pavement. He was taken to the hospital afterwards and subsequently released. Fortunately, no serious damage was done, but we’ll have a better idea Thursday if there’s something that might impact Winn’s baseball availability for the near future. If he needs an IL stint, the Cardinals could give his at-bats to Ramón Urías and José Fermín and call up Cesar Prieto to fill the open roster spot.

This was a good old fashioned pitchers duel with the teams knotted at zero entering the sixth innings and then going into extras tied 1-1. It took a bloop single from Winn with two outs and a runner on third in the 11th innings to finally put it to bed. That was only Winn’s first run batted in of the season hitting out of his new home in the clean-up spot. It feels like the power may never come for him but he’ll certainly have plenty more run scoring opportunities in front of him this season should he stick there in the order.

It looks like the Cardinals intend for Winn to open the season in the leadoff spot with Lars Nootbaar almost surely IL bound. We’re not really sure why; he has a career .304 OBP and has been equally bad there against lefties and righties. He still has a chance to take a step forward — he’s just turning 24 this month, and his EV numbers did improve some last season — but it’s difficult to be especially optimistic in the short term.

It sounds like this is just a precautionary issue for Winn, and soreness like this is a common occurence in the early portion of Grapefruit and Cactus League action. JJ Wetherholt got the nod at shortstop in Winn’s action. Don’t be surprised if he’s back in the lineup in the coming days, but the Cardinals will take the necessary precautions during exhibition season.

Winn was shut down for the rest of the season back on September 13 with a torn meniscus in his right knee that he played through for the majority of the year. The 23-year-old shortstop wrapped up his second big-league season with a .253/.310/.363 triple-slash line with 72 runs scored, nine home runs, 51 RBI and nine stolen bases in 537 plate appearances over 129 games. He’s expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training.

Winn has been shut down for the final two weeks of the season and is slated to undergo arthroscopic surgery in near future to repair damage to the meniscus in his left knee. The 23-year-old likely upcoming Gold Glove Award-winning shortstop is expected to be ready for spring training. He finishes his second big-league campaign with an underwhelming .253/.310/.363 triple-slash line with 72 runs scored, nine home runs, 51 RBI and nine stolen bases in 537 plate appearances over 129 games. It’ll be Thomas Saggese and José Fermín taking over at shortstop in his absence to wrap up the season.

Winn had been playing through a meniscus tear in his right knee, but it seemed inevitable that he would ultimately be shut down — especially after he was scratched from Friday’s lineup. The 23-year-old shortstop finishes with an underwhelming .253/.310/.363 slash line with nine homers, 51 RBI and nine stolen bases in 537 plate appearances. He’s expected to have a normal offseason after undergoing surgery and will be ready to go for the start of spring training.

The 23-year-old shortstop had been slated to return to action after missing the last two games due to a meniscus tear in his left knee, but wound up being a late scratch to the lineup after experiencing renewed soreness. If this continues to linger, the Cardinals may be better served just shutting him down for the remainder of the season.

There was optimism Winn would return to St. Louis’ lineup for this contest, but the Cardinals are going to give him some extra time off to rest. The 23-year-old shortstop will play through a small meniscus tear in his left knee for the final two-plus weeks of the season before undergoing surgery.

Winn was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup with left knee soreness, which has been an ongoing issue throughout the season. The 23-year-old shortstop told reporters there’s no risk for further damage if he continues playing through the small meniscus tear and expects to have a normal offseason following the procedure. It doesn’t sound like there are any plans to shut him down for the rest of the season.

It’ll be Thomas Saggese taking over at shortstop. Winn has been battling through a lingering left knee issue this season, which has required the occasional maintenance day. There should be an additional update on his status following the contest.

It’s a rare off day for Winn, who has been playing through a lingering left knee issue for the majority of the season. Thomas Saggese is at shortstop on Sunday afternoon in his place. The 23-year-old shortstop has made six straight starts since missing a game last weekend with left knee pain.

Winn chipped in big hit after big hit in what became a fun, back-and-forth affair through the late innings here. It started out with an RBI single third inning single that put Reds starter Zack Littell on the ropes. Then, a run-scoring double in the eighth that put his Cardinals back ahead just after the Reds tied this game up. Finally, a back-breaking single in the 10th inning that stretched St. Louis’ lead to two runs. It’s been a brutal month for him with a .588 OPS, so here’s to hoping a few timely hits can help build his confidence back up.

Marmol added that Winn’s knee showed signs of improvement and that he’s at no risk of further damage by continuing to play. The 23-year-old shortstop is back in Monday’s lineup after sitting out Sunday’s game with left knee pain. The lingering issue, which required an injection during last month’s All-Star break, may need to be addressed in the offseason but he’s not at risk of missing time going forward. The latest development seemingly closes the door on the possibility of top prospect JJ Wetherholt ascending to the big leagues this week.

The Cardinals haven’t yet said what Winn’s MRI today turned up, but it was good news, obviously. Ivan Herrera is out of the lineup tonight, which is probably why Winn is hitting second instead of his usual fifth.

MLB’s John Denton reports that Winn “received a pain-killing injection in his left knee during the All-Star break and has been dealing with persistent soreness for weeks.” Winn said that he had an MRI in July, which “showed a little something,” and he expects this one to as well; however, he does plan to play through it. “Whatever it shows, I’m going to be ready to play tomorrow and going forward. It sucks that I’ve had to miss two of the last four games, but going forward, I’m going to have to play through it and suck it up.” At some point, the Cardinals may decide to shut down their 23-year-old shortstop, but it doesn’t seem like that’s imminent.

Winn ultimately requiring a trip to the injured list would pave the way for top prospect JJ Wetherholt to ascend to the majors in an everyday role. There should be some clarity on his status before the weekend wraps up. He’s been playing through a lingering knee issue that required an injection during last month’s All-Star break. It’s a situation that fantasy managers should monitor closely. Wetherholt is already rostered in most fantasy leagues, but he needs to be stashed in those where he’s still available.
