Young gets the nod to join New York’s bench for their final two regular-season contests with starting third baseman Brett Baty heading to the injured list with an oblique strain. The 30-year-old can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes. He’s batted .190 (8-for-42) with four homers and six RBI in 21 games this season at the highest level.

Not that it did him much good, but Young homered in his one plate appearance during his week on the Mets roster. He’s hit .190/.239/.500 in 46 plate appearances in the majors this season. That actually amounts to a 103 OPS+.

Young has been summoned to replace an injured Tyrone Taylor (hamstring) on New York’s bench prior to Tuesday’s showdown against the Tigers. The 30-year-old has batted .171 (7-for-41) with three homers and five RBI across 18 games at the big-league level this season.

Young victimized White Sox’ right-hander Jonathan Cannon in the opening inning with a 367-foot (97.6 mph EV) two-run shot that gave the Mets a 4-2 lead. He also smacked a double into center off of Cannon in the third but was left stranded at third base. He’s now 2-for-8 (.250) with a homer and two RBI since joining the Mets on Saturday.
