Stewart has reportedly lost over 20 pounds this offseason and is expected to focus primarily on playing first base this spring with defensive stalwart Ke’Bryan Hayes occupying the hot corner in Cincinnati. The 22-year-old power-hitting prospect has a chance to be an immediate four-category impact fantasy producer after slashing a robust .309/.383/.524 with 20 homers and 17 steals in 494 plate appearances between Double-A Dayton and Triple-A Louisville last season. He’ll compete with incumbent Spencer Steer for the starting job at first base but there’s a clear path to everyday at-bats at DH after the Reds jettisoned Gavin Lux earlier this month. Stewart projects as an immediate 20-homer, 10-steal threat, which makes him an intriguing late-round selection in fantasy drafts this spring. He’s a top-20 overall prospect for dynasty purposes.

Daniel bolsters Cincinnati’s pitching depth at Triple-A Louisville after making three appearances for the Braves last season where he posted a pedestrian 5.40 ERA across 10 innings of work. The versatile 28-year-old has made 12 appearances (eight starts) at the highest level since 2023. He’s merely organizational depth at this juncture of his career.

Misiewicz fortifies Cincinnati’s left-handed relief depth chart entering spring training. The 31-year-old southpaw made just five appearances for the Twins last season but holds a respectable 4.12 FIP and 22.7 percent strikeout rate across 120 1/3 innings at the highest level since 2020.

Marte spent the 2025 season with the Chunichi Dragons in Japan. The right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2024 while with the Phillies, and he’s forged a 5.64 ERA over 113 1/3 innings across 102 MLB appearances. The 30-year-old will compete for a bullpen spot in the Cactus League.

“It’s kind of the first offseason I’ve had to actually train and not be rehabbing,” McLain said Friday. “It feels like a fresh start.” The 26-year-old former top prospect struggled in his return from shoulder surgery last season, striking out at a near-30 percent clip while producing a pedestrian 40.7 percent hard-hit rate that ranked 153rd out of 251 qualified hitters. McLain still offers an enticing power/speed foundation for fantasy purposes, and the combination of added muscle and being further removed from surgery offers a plausible path to more consistent hard contact.

The gold standard there is the 10-year, $225 million deal that Joey Votto signed 14 years ago. The proposal was somewhere in between there and the 11-year, $288.8 million contract that Bobby Witt Jr. signed with the Royals two years ago. Like Witt then, De La Cruz currently has two years of service time. He’s slated to be eligible for free agency after the 2029 season.

The 29-year-old southpaw moved from the Angels to the Rays and then to the Reds as part of a three-team deal that sent Josh Lowe to the Angels and Gavin Lux to the Rays. Burke was a key cog in the Halos’ bullpen in 2025, compiling a 3.36 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 52/18 K/BB ratio across 61 2/3 innings. He’ll add a valuable left-handed arm to the back end of the Reds’ bullpen.

Contrary to popular belief, he is not the protagonist of a Stranger Things spinoff in which Dustin Henderson is bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes a shutdown corner. The 22-year-old heads to Cincinnati after being selected in the 11th round of last summer’s MLB Draft. He’s a couple hyperspace jumps from the major leagues and represents a lottery ticket in the purest sense.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon, Johnson will make $5.5 million in 2026 and then get a $1 million buyout of his $8 million mutual option. Well, he didn’t actually say that, but that’s how it always works out. Johnson’s 3.05 ERA last season was his best mark in his five relatively full major league campaigns, but his strikeout rate fell for a second straight year; he came in at 32% from 2020-23, 28% in 2024 and 25% last year. He’s also a pretty big flyball pitcher while throwing his curve about 70% of the time, and GABP doesn’t seem like a great park for him. He figures to join Tony Santillan in a setup role in front of Emilio Pagán.

Zulueta has posted a 5.32 ERA over 23 2/3 innings in brief looks with the Reds the last two years, but his mid-90s fastball and slider helped him amass a 31.2% strikeout rate in Triple-A last season. Odds are that some team will decide to give him a look and claim him off waivers.

Nunez Jr. is the 6th-ranked player in the international class, according to MLB.com. He hit .350 with 11 RBI in eight games for Colombia’s U15 team at the World Cup in August 2024. He has an advanced eye and feel at the plate and burgeoning power. He also seems like a lock to remain in center field and emerge as a plus defender, which gives him a safer floor than most international prospects.

Toglia will get a fresh start in another phenomenal home ballpark after being non-tendered by the Rockies earlier this offseason. The 27-year-old slugger’s all-or-nothing approach resulted in 42 home runs and a staggering 373 strikeouts across 1,067 plate appearances for the Rockies over the past four seasons. His stratospheric power potential makes him a fascinating lottery ticket but he’ll need to make some strides in the contact department to regain any semblance of fantasy appeal.

Danner spent last year at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners’ system after being claimed off waivers from the Blue jays prior to spring training. The 27-year-old righty made one relief appearance for Toronto back in 2023 and hasn’t been back to the big leagues ever since. He’s merely organizational depth for the Reds and will likely open at Triple-A Louisville after spring training wraps up.

Richardson went unclaimed on waivers earlier this week after being jettisoned from Cincinnati’s 40-man roster back in late December. The 25-year-old reliever will compete for a spot in the club’s season-opening bullpen during camp after posting a respectable 4.54 ERA — 4.06 FIP — and 30/21 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings over a career-high 34 appearances this past season at the big-league level.

Staumont returns to Cincinnati’s relief mix after missing all of last season with an undisclosed injury that he suffered during spring training. The 32-year-old was a high-leverage arm with the Royals a couple seasons ago before undergoing surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome back in 2023. He’ll presumably compete for a spot in the Reds’ season-opening bullpen, assuming he’s fully healthy, entering spring training.

Leibrandt holds an underwhelming 6.44 FIP and 11.8 percent strikeout rate across 15 1/3 big-league innings from 2020-2024. The 33-year-old southpaw spent last season in the Yankees’ system, compiling a 2.85 ERA — 4.62 FIP — 1.12 WHIP and 37/14 K/BB ratio across 41 innings at the Triple-A level. He made two relief appearances for Cincinnati back in 2024 and should have a chance to compete for a bullpen role in spring training.

Hampson had an absolutely miserable time in limited big league action between the Reds, Cardinals and Diamondbacks in 2025 — slashing .143/.250/.169 with zero homers, one RBI and a 29/11 K/BB ratio over 91 plate appearances. He’ll add depth for the Reds.

McLain was called up early enough in the 2023 season to qualify as a Super Two player this year, and he’ll make about three times the minimum despite missing 2024 and struggling throughout last season. He should remain the Reds’ starting second baseman this year, but if he continues to falter offensively, the Reds have Gavin Lux and Sal Stewart as alternatives. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.

That’s a big arbitration salary, but Singer is a former Super Two player, which bumped him up some, with a whole lot of quantity under his belt; he’s made 156 starts and pitched 855 innings since debuting during the shortened 2020. He’ll be eligible for free agency for the first time at age 30 next winter.

Lodolo had a 3.33 ERA and a 156/31 K/BB over 156 2/3 innings last season in his first year of arbitration. He’s currently slated to hit free agency after the 2027 season, though the Reds should make some attempt to lock him up before then.

Santillan was finally able to put in a full season for the Reds in 2025 and had a 2.44 ERA in 73 2/3 innings out of the pen. His total of 40 saves (seven) plus holds (33) was tied with Robert Suarez (40 saves) for third in the majors behind Abner Uribe (seven saves, 37 holds) and Carlos Estévez (42 saves). He’ll again be penciled into a setup role in front of Emilio Pagán this year.

Steer is very much in line to be the Reds’ first baseman once again, even though he’s regressed offensively and just doesn’t seem like a very good option at this point. Aided by his home ballpark, he did wind up a sort-of-respectable .238/.312/.411 line last season. However, with his subpar exit velocity numbers, Statcast gave him just a .220 xBA and a .355 xSLG. Because of his ballpark and the possibility that he’ll hit cleanup, he could be a fantasy contributor in shallow leagues if he only bounces back a little bit. Alternatively, he could be overtaken by Sal Stewart, who has to play somewhere, and/or Christian Encarnacion-Strand if he doesn’t get off to a nice start.

Lux is entering his final year before free agency. He hit .269/.350/.374 in 503 plate appearances while providing little defensive value in his first year in Cincinnati. It’d make sense for him to enter 2026 in a lesser role unless he finds his power stroke from the second half of 2024. The Reds are probably still open to trading him, too.

Friedl and Spencer Steer are both eligible for arbitration for the first time, but Friedl is settling $200,000 less than Steer, even though he’s coming of the better season and is at 8.1 career fWAR, versus 4.5 for Steer. Freidl hit .261/.364/.378 in 685 plate appearances as the Reds’ starting center fielder and leadoff man last season. It looks like he’ll carry both roles into 2026; there was some talk of bringing in a center fielder and moving him to left, but it seems the team considers him the better center field option than newcomer JJ Bleday.

Benson ended up at .226/.273/.435 in 253 plate appearances, but the drop in his strikeout rate from a career mark of 35.5% to 26.5% last season was encouraging, especially in combination with his career-best 54% hard-hit rate. The assumption is that the newly signed JJ Bleday will get the nod over Benson against right-handers initially, but the guess here is that Benson proves to be the better player of the two, potentially giving him some value in deeper formats.

There was no avenue for Myers to play regularly next season in Miami with Kyle Stowers and Jakob Marsee emerging as core building blocks and Griffin Conine coming back from shoulder surgery. The 29-year-old, who posted a pedestrian .617 OPS with six homers and 19 steals over 333 plate appearances across 106 games for the Marlins last season, provides the Reds with a decent insurance policy behind center fielder TJ Friedl. He’ll enter spring training in competition with Will Benson and JJ Bleday for a corner-outfield role, with a bench assignment the most probable outcome.

Richardson loses his spot on Cincinnati’s 40-man roster after the club finalized a trade for center fielder Dane Myers. The 25-year-old righty posted a serviceable 4.54 ERA – 4.06 FIP – and 30/21 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings over a career-high 34 appearances this past season at the big-league level. He should attract some interest on waivers as a middle relief depth pickup.

The deal is now official. Bleday heads to Cincinnati as a relatively low-risk reclamation project after being non-tendered by the Athletics last month with top prospects Denzel Clarke and Colby Thomas taking over in center field with Tyler Soderstrom and Lawrence Butler in the corners. The 28-year-old former top-five pick figures to compete with Will Benson in spring training for playing time in a platoon role for the Reds next season. At a bare minimum, he’ll occupy a bench role as an insurance policy behind TJ Friedl in center field. His fantasy appeal is strictly limited to NL-only formats based on his pedestrian plate skills and lack of stolen base upside. He’s an extremely streaky hot-and-cold power hitter that will have stretches of fantasy relevance, especially in Cincinnati’s favorable offensive environment.

Thompson signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with Cincinnati last month. The 30-year-old righty didn’t appear in the big leagues this past season after making 104 appearances for the Cubs since the start of 2021. The Reds are presumably hoping he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and remain with the organization heading into spring training.
