ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports the deal is done, pending a physical. Meisel adds that the new agreement would add an additional four years and $106 million to Ramírez’s current contract and includes $70 million deferred. The 33-year-old fantasy superstar finished third in AL MVP Award balloting this past season. He’s recorded five consecutive 20-homer, 20-steal campaigns dating back to 2021. Cleveland’s franchise cornerstone has cleared 40 steals in consecutive seasons — a pace that’s unlikely to survive deep into his late 30’s — but his well-rounded game is built to age well, positioning him to remain an elite power-speed fantasy contributor even as the raw speed inevitably tapers. He’ll be the top third baseman off the board in all fantasy drafts this spring.

The Mets needed some extra pool money to sign top international prospect Wandy Asigen, who recently committed to them after a deal with the Yankees fell apart. That worked out great for the Guardians, who don’t like spending money. Gomez was the Mets’ No. 22 prospect, according to Baseball America. The 20-year-old, an international signing in 2022, had a 2.76 ERA in 71 2/3 innings for two A-ball teams last season.

Kieboom had only eight plate appearances for the Angels in 2025, but hit .319/.368/.449 with nine home runs and 11 steals in 93 games for Triple-A Salt Lake. The former top prospect will likely be corner infield depth for the Guardians in 2026 and should no longer be counted on for any major MLB production.

Kwan won a Gold Glove this year and hit .272/.330/.374 with 11 home runs and 21 steals in 156 games. His modest power surge from 2024 didn’t quite carry over, nor did his nearly .300 batting average, but he tied his career high in steals and remains a very solid outfielder.

Nuñez was with the Guardians last year, getting only seven at-bats with the big league club. He hit .176/.330/.349 with nine home runs in 76 games at Triple-A Columbus. He’ll continue to serve as organizational depth.

It’s a split contract for the 28-year-old hurler, who will earn a larger salary if he cracks the Guardians’ roster at any point during the 2026 campaign. Avila spent the 2025 season pitching for the Yakult Swallows of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. There, he registered a 3.33 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 74/42 K/BB ratio across 102 2/3 innings in 21 appearances.

Heuer only pitched 4 2/3 innings in the big leagues last year and had not thrown an MLB inning since 2021 prior to that. The 29-year-old had a 3.14 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 62/17 K/BB ratio in 48 2/3 innings at Triple-A last year and feels like a decent bet to make the Guardians’ bullpen.

The 35-year-old Armstrong arrives in Cleveland after a terrific season in which he had a 2.31 ERA in 74 innings for the Rangers. Still, there isn’t any telling what Armstrong will give a team on a year-to-year basis. In the five big-league seasons in which he’s pitched at least 50 innings, he’s finished with ERA of 5.74 (2019), 4.38 (2022), 1.38 (2023), 4.86 (2024) and 2.31. His career ERA is 3.82, but he’s never actually finished in the 3.00s once in the 11 years since his debut. The Guardians figure to have him help set up for Cade Smith.

The Jays just acquired Bruihl from the Blue Jays for cash on Wednesday, but now they’ll try to pass him through waivers. The 28-year-old has a 4.72 ERA in 89 2/3 major league innings since arriving in 2021.

Fairchild fortifies Cleveland’s outfield depth and will compete for a bench role in spring training. The well-traveled 29-year-old defensive specialist got into 28 games this past season for the Braves, batting .216 (11-for-51) with two steals across 55 plate appearances. He’s gotten into 277 games at the highest level dating back to 2021.

Bruihl, 28, had a 5.27 ERA in 13 2/3 innings for Toronto last season, putting him at 4.72 in 89 2/3 career innings since he debuted with the Dodgers in 2021. Still, his Stuff metrics have improved, and he struck out 28% of the 65 batters he faced last season. He’s out of options, so he’ll probably have a spot in the Cleveland bullpen.

The A’s might have dropped someone else for Justin Bruihl had Noel had an option remaining, but that he’s out of them at age 24 does cut into his value. A helpful platoon player as a rookie in 2024, Noel came in at just .162/.183/.297 with 52 strikeouts in 153 plate appearances last season. He has top-of-the-line power, but it seems unlikely that he’ll ever make enough contact to rate as a useful regular. He could, however, bounce back well enough to contribute against lefties.

Arias is batting .278/.361/.492 in 144 plate appearances. It was recently put out there that the Guardians intend to move Brayan Rocchio back to short next season. Arias started at that spot after Rocchio was sent down last summer and kept it for the rest of the season, with Rocchio finishing up at second base. Arias, though, didn’t excel in hitting .220/.274/.363 in 471 plate appearances. He’s out of options, so he should be guaranteed a roster spot. However, he’s probably looking at a reduced role as a utilityman.

Vogt and the Guardians never made the news public, but the winner of back-to-back AL Manager of the Year awards will not have 2026 be the final year of his contract. The 41-year-old will be tasked with trying to get Cleveland into the postseason for a third-consecutive season this summer.

The deal is now official. Holderman is coming off a disappointing final season with the Pirates where he posted a bloated 7.01 ERA (5.86 FIP) and 14.4 percent strikeout rate over 25 2/3 innings before being non-tendered last month. The 30-year-old represents a worthwhile reclamation project for Cleveland’s pitching apparatus since he holds a solid 4.13 ERA (4.01 FIP) over 161 1/3 innings in the majors since 2022. He’ll operate in middle relief for the Guardians helping bridge the gap to closer Cade Smith.

Pallette was a second-round pick out of Arkansas in 2022, and the 24-year-old showed some swing-and-miss stuff with 86 strikeouts over 64 1/3 innings with Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte. He’ll have a shot to win a bullpen job with Cleveland if he pitches well in the Cactus League, but it’s an uphill battle.

That’s probably the right plan. Rocchio played second, with Arias at short, after returning from the minors last July. Arias, though, just hasn’t looked like a big-league regular, and while Rocchio still has much to prove, too, he’s the more intriguing player at this point. The news suggests the Guardians could aim for a stopgap in second while waiting on 2024 first overall pick Travis Bazzana. Or perhaps Bazzana could have a shot of winning the job in spring training, even if his participation for Team Australia in the WBC probably won’t help there.

Brito’s case was pretty obvious, but this is actually a second straight extra option year for Valera. He never used one in 2025, though, since the Guardians non-tendered him and then re-signed him to a minor league contract. He finally made his major league debut in September and performed well enough overall to keep himself in the Guardians’ plans for 2026. However, now there’s no pressure on the team to save room for him on the Opening Day roster. The Guardians will still have Nolan Jones, Jhonkensy Noel, Brayan Rocchio and Gilbert Arias as out-of-options players, which could make it more difficult for C.J. Kayfus, Angel Martínez and maybe Daniel Schneeman to make the team, depending on how the rest of the offseason goes.

Cleveland’s decision to move on from Enright qualifies as a surprising one since he posted a strong 2.03 ERA and 30/12 K/BB ratio across 31 innings over 27 appearances last season in his first taste of the majors. Vogt received 17 first-place votes to edge John Schneider, who got 10 first-place votes to finish second. Dan Wilson came away with a pair of first-place votes and Alex Cora also received one to finish third and fourth, respectively. The 41-year-old skipper, who helped guide the Guardians to an improbable late-season comeback to wrestle the AL Central division crown from Detroit this past season, earns the honor for the second straight season, joining Bobby Cox, Kevin Cash and Pat Murphy as the only repeat winners since 1983. He’s gone 180-143 (.557) in two seasons at the helm in Cleveland.

Passan adds that Ortiz was arrested earlier this weekend, while Clase is not currently in custody. The pair could face up to 65 years in prison if convicted on all charges, which include fraud, conspiracy, and bribery. Prosecutors allege that Ortiz was paid $5,000 for throwing an intentional ball June 15, with Clase receiving the same amount for facilitating it. The indictment also claims they repeated the scheme on June 27, earning $7,000 apiece. The pair of Guardians pitchers were placed on administrative leave in late July amid MLB’s ongoing sports-betting investigation and both appear highly unlikely to ever pitch in the majors again. A final decision on their status won’t come until the criminal proceedings play out. We’ll have updates on the developing situation as it unfolds.

It’s notable that all three finalists are former catchers with Vogt checking in as one for the second consecutive campaign after guiding Cleveland to an improbable late-season comeback to wrestle the AL Central division crown from Detroit. Schneider finds himself among the finalists for the first time in his six seasons at the helm while Dan Wilson is one in just his second year as Seattle’s skipper. The 24-year-old southpaw has spent the first seven seasons in his minor league career in the Guardians’ organization, and he’ll stay there for at least another year. In 2025 he registered a scintillating 1.83 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 70/20 K/BB ratio over 69 innings between High-A Lake County and Double-A Akron. Don’t be surprised if he winds up debuting with the Guardians at some point during the 2026 campaign.
