Rojas, who was acquired from the Jays in the Louis Varland trade last summer, rates as one of Minnesota’s best pitching prospects. He had a 9.45 ERA in 6 2/3 innings this spring before being sent down.

After missing time with back tightness last month, Ryan’s velocity was down about two mph from last year in his final spring start. Today, though, he was right back to 2025 levels in averaging 93.7 mph with his fastball. Of his seven strikeouts, six came on his curve, which he actually threw just 14 times in all. The lone hit he allowed was an Adley Rutschman single. With the Twins having two days off coming up, Ryan isn’t slated to make his next start until he faces the Royals next Thursday.

The HBP was a changeup in his first plate appearance and had nothing to do with his exit, which seemed to simply being a product of the Twins having little faith in him at the moment. Lewis hit just .133/.160/.289 this spring, and the Twins had him hitting eighth today even though they were facing a lefty. Lewis flew out in the second and then grounded into the double play after Victor Caratini walked to start the seventh. He was due to bat again with two outs, one on and the Twins down by one in the ninth, but Trevor Larnach was inserted into his place against Orioles closer Ryan Helsley. Larnach went on to strike out to end the game. Lewis figures to remain in the lineup most of the time for now, but if he fails to produce, he could be sent down, with the Twins potentially going with Kody Clemens against right-handers and calling up Eric Wagaman to help versus lefties.

Even with a left-handed pitcher going, it seems that Wallner is going to be in the starting lineup. A big reason for that is that the Twins only have one right-handed hitter on the bench, Austin Martin, and he’s starting in place of Trevor Larnach. Every other bench hitter bats left-handed, which means the Twins may not be able to platoon Wallner as much as they used to. That seems like great news for fantasy managers, but Wallner is also a career .181/.273/.368 hitter off of lefties with a 31 percent strikeout rate. However, last season was his best season ever against southpaws, so maybe he will carry that over.

With left-hander Trevor Rogers on the mound for the Orioles, the Twins will use Martin in left field instead of Trevor Larnach. Martin dealt with a concussion in the spring, but also hit .353/.476/.353 with four steals in 16 games. He likely won’t play enough to be fantasy relevant in most formats, but the speed could be a nice perk. The full Twins lineup is: LF Austin Martin, CF Byron Buxton, 2B Luke Keaschall, C Ryan Jeffers, RF Matt Wallner, DH Josh Bell, 1B Victor Caratini, 3B Royce Lewis, and SS Brooks Lee.

Jackson remains with Minnesota as emergency catching depth behind Ryan Jeffers and Victor Caratini. The 30-year-old backstop has gotten into 161 games between six different organizations since 2019.

Laweryson’s strange journey saw him DFA’d by the Twins in November, claimed by the Angels, released and now not only back with the Twins but also in possession of a spot in the team’s pen. Laweryson, a University of Maine product, isn’t viewed as someone with much upside, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be the most reliable option in a weak Twins pen.

Festa is close to getting back on the mound after a month off it. If he’s back pitching in minor league games by mid-to-late April, he could potentially be an option in the Twins rotation by the second half of May.

Adams was in the running for a spot in long relief before his elbow started barking. He’s back throwing now, so this should be a rather short IL stay. However, he might be optioned out once healthy.

The Twins traded for Jackson in November thinking that he’d be Ryan Jeffers’ backup, but then they later made Victor Caratini their biggest offseason addition and they didn’t want to carry three catchers. Fortunately, he was able to clear waivers, allowing the team to preserve its catching depth.

It was Buxton’s second home run of the spring and was a 403-foot shot off Ranger Suarez. The 32-year-old is coming off a career-best season that saw him play the most games he has since 2017 while hitting 35 home runs and stealing 24 bases. The production was obviously great, but Buxton had not played more than 102 games since 2017 before last year, so he remains a major health risk.

Abel also struck out four and walked one while allowing an average exit velocity of 81.2 mph. It was an overall strong performance for Abel, who figures to start against the Royals next week in his first MLB start of the season. If you can wait until Sunday to add Abel, that’s great, but he is a priority waiver target for many right now, so you may need to add him now and hold him until that first start. He has a great foundation with strong fastballs and could be a plus starter for the Twins this season.

Altavilla and Bowman were in Twins camp as non-roster invitees this spring attempting to win spots in the club’s bullpen. Altavilla made 28 appearances for the White Sox last year. Bowman got into 20 contests for the Orioles last season and should be able to latch on somewhere, likely on a minor league pact.

Ober sat 89.6 mph on his fastball, which is down from last season but up from the 88.8 mph mark he had in his last outing. Still, it didn’t much matter. He allowed ten hard-hit baseballs on the day while walking three and striking out three. It’s impossible to recommend him in fantasy leagues right now.

Kreidler is a career .138/.208/.176 MLB hitter in 211 plate appearances, so he was always a long shot to make the Opening Day roster. His defensive versatility will likely give him a chance at some MLB at-bats this season.

With Austin Martin (concussion) back on track to begin the season with the Twins, Wagaman will head to the minors. That means Kody Clemens will operate as the primary backup first baseman behind Josh Bell. Wagaman had some intriguing batted ball data during his MLB debut last season, and he can play the outfield as well, so he figures to get a chance sometime this season.

Roden performed admirably in the Grapefruit League with a .310 average and .774 OPS, but he has an option year left, while James Outman does not, so Outman wins the final outfield spot to begin 2026.

Keaschall victimized Braves’ right-hander Reynaldo Lopez for the 374-foot (108.1 mph EV) three-run shot, giving the Twins a 4-3 advantage that they would never relinquish. The 23-year-old has had an excellent spring at the plate, hitting .360 (18-for-50) with three homers, 12 RBI and two stolen bases. He’s slated to open the season as the team’s regular leadoff hitter and should be an impact player for fantasy purposes.

Bradley struck out four batters on the afternoon. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as Drake Baldwin smacked a two-run single and Dominic Smith added an RBI single. Bradley got six swings and misses on 63 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of only 18 percent. He has had an inconsistent spring, compiling a 4.67 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 23/7 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings. He should be considered as a matchup play at best for fantasy purposes.

Ryan’s velocity is still down about two mph after he missed time with back tightness. He has a 1.50 ERA through three outings anyway, but he’s struck out only eight, and he surrendered 11 hard-hit balls to the 18 batters he faced today. He’ll probably be one of the AL’s better pitchers in the long run, but it shouldn’t be surprising he struggles a little bit out of the gate. He’ll face the Orioles on Opening Day.

That just can’t help a guy’s standing. While the team recently dropped Liam Hendricks and Andrew Chafin, Altavilla remains in the mix for a spot in the Twins pen. Being that just about anyone could wind up as Minnesota’s closer, that makes him worth paying attention to. Still, he hasn’t been particularly impressive, especially in going without a whiff in the 17-pitch outing today.

Woods Richardson allowed nine hits in the contest, so this could have gone much worse. The 25-year-old will likely be the fourth starter to open the season for Minnesota and is the definition of “just a streaming option” at this stage of his career.

Zebby Matthews was optioned to Triple-A today, so it seems like Abel and Taj Bradley will take the final two spots in the Twins’ rotation. Abel was tremendous this spring, allowing four runs on 12 hits in 18 innings while striking out 23 and walking three. He also looked solid for stretches in his MLB debut last season and was stellar in the minor leagues. He should be a priority target in the later rounds of drafts now that he has won a spot in the rotation.

Given the injury to Pablo Lopez, Matthews seemed like a lock to open the season in the starting rotation, but he didn’t have a great spring, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on 12 hits in 11 innings while striking out nine and walking four. The strikeout upside he showed in the minors has not really carried over to his 117 career MLB innings, so he will head back to Triple-A to try and work on his pitch sequencing or shapes in the hopes of unlocking that next level of production. This move likely means that Mick Abel has won a spot in the Twins’ starting rotation.

Larnach was scratched from Sunday’s game due to soreness in his left side, but it never seemed like a major concern. If he is able to play without issue on Friday, then he seems all but a lock to make the Opening Day roster.

Clemens led off the game with a single off of Brayan Bello and swiped second base, but he was then doubled off on a line drive. He then smacked a two-out triple in the eighth inning before being lifted for a pinch runner. The 29-year-old utilityman has had a solid spring, hitting .290 (9-for-31) with zero homers, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

The 24-year-old hurler punched out six batters on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. He got through the first three innings without any difficulty but ran into trouble in the fourth as he loaded the bases with two outs as he allowed a single and a pair of walks. Ceddanne Rafaela then followed with a two-run single. Abel generated 11 swings and misses on 79 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He has made a strong case for inclusion in the Twins’ Opening Day rotation, posting a 2.00 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and a 23/3 K/BB ratio over 18 innings. If that’s the case, Zebby Matthews could wind up being the odd man out.

Ober’s fastball velocity continues to trend in the wrong direction, as he averaged just 88.2 mph today. He was 89.9 mph in his spring debut and 88.8 mph last time out. This is all way down from the 91.7 mph he averaged last time he was an effective starter in 2024. Expectations for Ober should be pretty low at this point.

The home run was a 380-foot shot that left the bat at 99.4 mph. He also added a 99 mph double earlier in the day. Keaschall doesn’t have a track record of much power in the minors and is probably capped at around 15 home runs at the big league level. However, he is an elite contact hitter with good speed who should provide you with a solid batting average, albeit in a fairly mediocre lineup for counting stats. All of that does make him a solid pick since he has recently fallen outside of the top 100 picks in ADP.
