Marsh was drilled in the elbow by a pitch that just missed his elbow guard and caught him flush. Fortunately, X-rays came back negative for any fractures and he feels like he should be fine. He’s considered day-to-day.

It wasn’t a pretty first save for Keller, who needed 26 pitches to get through the frame and started things off with a leadoff walk to Javier Sanoja. Sanoja would eventually come around to score on an RBI single by Otto Lopez, but got Xavier Edwards to fly out to center to end the inning on a full count fastball. Given the dicey outing, we’ll see if interim manager Don Mattingly calls on Keller again the next time a save situation arises, or if he opts to go with someone else while Jhoan Duran is on the 15-day IL.

Wheeler had a home run allowed to Otto Lopez overturned to a double after a successful challenge by interim manager Don Mattingly in the first inning, but on the following at-bat, he would allow a double to Xavier Edwards to give the Marlins their first run on the evening. That run would be the only run Wheeler would allow on the evening, as he would go on to settle in and blank the Marlins for the next five innings while firing seven strikeouts over that span. Wheeler has been solid in his first two starts of the season, allowing just three earned runs over 11 innings while striking out 14. His next outing is scheduled for Wednesday at home against the Athletics.

Stott got a hold of a slider from Cade Gibson with two runners on in the top of the seventh inning and deposited it into right-center field to push the Phillies’ lead to 6-1. It was the first homer of the season for Stott, who entered the day slashing .207/.258/.276. It was a much-needed good day for Stott, but this shouldn’t do anything to move his fantasy stock.

Nola had been lined up to start on Sunday, but they’ll go with Jesus Luzardo there on regular rest. Mattingly wanted to break up the lefties in his rotation, giving a day in-between Luzardo and Cristopher Sanchez. That means Nola will now be scheduled to make two starts next week, though he misses a prime matchup against the Marlins in Miami.

No explanation given, so we’re assuming it’s just a rest day after playing both ends of a doubleheader on Thursday. Edmundo Sosa is batting fifth and playing shortstop in Turner’s absence.

Schwarber went back-to-back with Trea Turner off of Adrian Houser to start the ballgame, with his being a gargantuan 446-foot (112.4 mph) blast to right-center. He then doubled in the fifth inning and scored on a two-run knock off the bat of Adolis Garcia. The 33-year-old slugger also smacked a game-tying RBI double with two outs in the ninth inning that forced extra innings. He’s now slashing .225/.381/.595 to go with 11 long balls and 20 RBI on the season.

Turner opened the home half of the first inning with a bang, launching the first pitch thrown by Adrian Houser for a 373-foot (102.3 mph EV) solo shot. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on a two-run single by Adolis Garcia. The dynamic 32-year-old shortstop is off to a bit of a slow start at the dish this season, slashing .252/.317/.386 with four homers, 11 RBI and three stolen bases in his first 139 plate appearances.

Richards, 32, was off to a brilliant start at the Triple-A level, registering a 1.93 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and a 26/3 K/BB ratio over 14 innings in his first nine appearances. He’ll add a fresh arm to a depleted Phillies’ bullpen and if he can replicate his performance at Triple-A, there’s a chance that he could work his way into a high leverage role at some point.

The Phillies made the move in-between games of Thursday’s twin bill against the Giants. Trevor Richards was promoted from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his spot in the club’s bullpen. No word yet on the severity of the elbow issue for Backhus or how long he’ll be shelved for.

It was his longest outing of the year, but he left in line for a loss as the Phillies were stymied by Logan Webb. The Giants hit back-to-back doubles lead off the game and both runners scored, but after that Sánchez locked in and handled the Giants three times through the order. Sánchez allowed 10 hard-hit balls and generated just nine whiffs, but found enough of the zone to finish with a 32 percent CSW rate. He’s likely to match up with the Athletics in his next start.

Schwarber finished 1-for-2 with two walks as Logan Webb showed little interest in pitching to him after allowing a shot into the second deck down the right-field line. The burly slugger is off to a .196/.358/.533 start in his first 30 games of the season, with a surprisingly high 37.3 percent strikeout rate driving the lower average. That rate was only 32.6 percent last year.

One of Crawford’s three singles was a line drive. Another was a bunt with men on first and second with two outs. And, finally, his walkoff hit was a grounder deep in the hole that he beat out by a step. It hasn’t all been bad in Crawford’s first month in the majors — he’s hitting .267/.337/.349. But the speed has yet to translate into the sort of stolen bases that would make him fantasy-interesting. He was thrown out for the second time today and has just two steals so far.

Marsh has always been a platoon outfielder and has a .418 OPS against lefties this season, but Mattingly praised the quality of his at-bats. Marsh would get a little added fantasy value from playing every day, but of course if he’s not hitting against left-handers, it’s hard to pretend it’s a huge boost. Still, this is a situation worth monitoring and would point to Felix Reyes being mothballed. Reyes has started just two of the last six games.

The Phillies are “optimistic” about his progress per Matt The Athletic’s Matt Gelb. Duran is eligible to be activated, as he was placed on the list on April 15. It sounds like if he comes out of the bullpen session feeling good, Duran could be back in short order.

Weird to finally get him a rest coming off a rare two-hit effort, but Edmundo Sosa will slide in against RHP Logan Webb in the first game of the doubleheader. Bohm had been hitting .128/.205/.179 as of April 21, but over the past week or so has boosted his overall line to .157/.228/.216. Baby steps.

The Phillies had Giants starter Tyler Mahle on the ropes in the sixth inning. García came up with men on second and third and no outs and hit a double to give the Phillies a 4-0 lead and chase Mahle from the ballgame. The 33-year-old outfielder is hitting .233 with three home runs, one steal, eight runs and nine RBI in 29 games this year. García’s .155 ISO would be the lowest of his career.

Turner is now riding a four-game hitting streak. The 32-year-old shortstop is off to a slow start, but it’s important to remember that it’s early in the season. With four hits Tuesday, Turner improved his batting average from .230 to .254. He won’t be able to do that come August.

Luzardo gave up two hits, walked none and struck out eight. He improved to 2-3 on the season with the win. Luzardo still has a 5.50 ERA after six starts, but his 2.58 xFIP tells us more good starts are in his future. The 28-year-old left-hander is lined up to face his former team in the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

Don Mattingly, who joined the team as bench coach this offseason, will take over as interim manager. Thomson becomes the second manager fired this month after the Red Sox fired Alex Cora over the weekend. In fact, many reports suggest that Thomson’s firing could be directly tied to that, since Dave Dombrowski, the Phillies’ president of baseball operations, has a close relationship with Cora from their time together in Boston. A potential manager swap was made easier with the Phillies’ getting out to a 9-19 start to the season, tied with the Mets for the worst record in baseball. Thomson ends his Phillies career with a record of 355-270 for a .568 winning percentage, which is second-best in franchise history. He took the Phillies to the World Series in 2022, but the team then lost in the NLCS in 2023, the Division Series in 2024, and the Division Series in 2025. Thomson will likely get another chance to manage if he wants one.

Schwarber finally got the Phillies on the board in the eighth inning of this one, blasting a 3-2 curveball from Aaron Bummer for a 377-foot (103.4 mph EV) two-run shot, pulling the Phillies to within four runs at 6-2. He also walked in the ballgame. The 33-year-old slugger is hitting just .196/.344/.520 on the season, though he’s delivering in the power department with nine long balls and 17 RBI.

On the plus side for fantasy managers, he at least managed to punch out six batters on the afternoon while issuing three free passes. The Braves jumped on him early in this one, with Matt Olson slugging a three-run homer in the first inning and Eli White adding a two-run shot as part of a three-run second. Nola got 12 swings and misses on 101 offerings on the day, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces as he carries a miserable 6.03 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and a 35/13 K/BB ratio (31 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Marlins in Miami.

Harper picked up his first two RBI of the night on an infield single and a sac fly. The third and fourth came in the 10th inning to break a 4-4 tie and gave Harper 18 runs driven in over the first month of the season. Wheeler allowed just three hits in his first start of 2026, but he did walk three and appeared to be losing command as the start continued. Still, a solid outing that saw him generate 15 swings and misses while throwing 56-of-84 pitches for strikes. It is worth noting, however, that his velocity was down a good amount — 94.7 mph per four-seam fastball compared to 96.1 in 2025 — so that’s something to keep an eye on. Wheeler will be back on the mound Friday against the Marlins.

Wheeler takes the ball for his season debut against the division-rival Braves on Saturday night as the Phillies attempt to snap a dismal 10-game losing streak. No pressure. The 35-year-old former ace’s fastball velocity simply wasn’t back to pre-surgery levels during a handful of recent minor league rehab starts which makes this a wait-and-see situation for fantasy managers, despite his lengthy track record of success.
