Mayza missed much of last season with a lat strain, posting a 2.89 ERA in 9 1/3 innings for the Pirates before the injury and a 4.91 ERA in 7 1/3 innings for the Phillies after being picked up for the stretch run. The 34-year-old lefty has a career 3.87 ERA in 382 relief appearances. He figures to have a difficult time making the Phillies out of spring training.

Nola surely could have been a part of Team USA’s rotation last WBC, but he wasn’t interested then after a long 2022 season that saw the Phillies go to the World Series. Now he’ll be pitching for an Italian team whose starters last time around were a soon-to-be-retired Matt Harvey, Ryan Castellani and Michele Vassalotti. There’s also been some talk about Chase Burns, who was born in Naples, being part of Italy’s staff this year, though the Reds probably aren’t going to want that to happen.

Realmuto is guaranteed $15 million per season under the terms of his three-year deal with the Phillies, so he’ll be fine. However, the bonuses that would get him to a maximum of $20 million per season will be tough to reach. He’d earn $2 million each for finishing in the top 10 of MVP balloting or being voted to start the All-Star Game. He’d make $1 million each for an All-Star selection, a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger, up to a maximum of $5 million in total. None of Realmuto’s last three seasons would have qualified him for any of these bonuses. He was last an All-Star in 2021, though he would have collected $4 million in 2022 for finishing seventh in the NL MVP balloting and winning both a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger. That was his lone top-10 MVP finish to date.

With J.T. Realmuto’s contract becoming official, the Phillies needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, so Wilson was let go. The 31-year-old hit .198/.282/.369 in 125 plate appearances with the Phillies in 2025. He has historically produced better and is strong against left-handed pitching, so he could find a spot somewhere else as a bench bat.

The deal was announced over the weekend and is now official. The veteran will be 35 next year and is coming off a season in which he hit .257/.315/.384 with 12 home runs and 8 steals. He remains an elite defensive catcher and a rock-solid presence in the Phillies’ lineup. He has experienced a minor regression offensively and no longer seems likely to push for 15+ steals in a season, which makes him more of a fringe top 10 catcher for fantasy leagues.

Keller’s addition should round out the pitching staff, though it’s quite possible one or two guys will drop out before the tourney. Keller busted out with the Cubs in relief last season, posting a 2.07 ERA and a 75/22 K/BB in 69 2/3 innings. He signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Phillies last month.

Shugart, who was DFA’d last week, had a 3.40 ERA in 45 innings for the Pirates last season, though his peripherals weren’t very impressive; his K/BB was 31/17 and his groundball rate was only 33%. He does have an option year left, though, and the Phillies were surely attracted to that. Loreto, an 18-year-old signed out of Venezuela two years ago, wasn’t regarded as one of the Phillies’ better prospects. He hit .237/.332/.396 in 47 games in the Florida Complex League last season.

Stoudt hasn’t resurfaced at the major-league level since making four appearances for the Reds back in 2023. The 28-year-old former pitching prospect has bounced around between a couple different organizations, including the Orioles and Mariners, over the past two seasons while pitching in relief in Triple-A. He’s merely organizational depth at this stage of his career.

Pinto fortifies Philadelphia’s catching depth chart, which lacks a true starter at the moment with veteran J.T. Realmuto languishing in free agency, behind Rafael Marchán and Garrett Stubbs. The 29-year-old backstop split last year between the Blue Jays and Diamondbacks at the Triple-A level. He’s gotten into 82 games at the big-league level since 2022.

Richards bolsters Philadelphia’s relief corps entering spring training after making just five appearances last year between the Diamondbacks and Royals. The 32-year-old journeyman isn’t far removed from being a durable workhorse with the Blue Jays where he made a whopping 195 appearances over a four-year span from 2021-2024 before the metaphorical wheels came off. He’s a low-risk emergency depth addition for the Phillies.

Bohm fittingly gets a smaller raise this time after going from $4 million in his first year of arbitration in 2024 to $7.7 million last year. He hit .277/.331/.409 last season, a drop of 40 points of OPS from 2024. More importantly in arbitration, though, is that his RBI count went from 97 in 143 games in 2024 to 59 in 120 games last season. He’s been considered a trade candidate in his final year before free agency, but the Phillies will probably hold on to him unless they think they can upgrade.

Marsh gets a $2.2 million raise in his second year of arbitration. The 28-year-old hit .280/.342/.443 in 133 games last season, but he again struggled in his limited opportunities against lefties. He doesn’t offer much mixed-league value as a platoon player hitting in the bottom half of the Phillies lineup.

At 29, Sosa is now well established as one of the league’s better bench guys; he hit .276/.307/.469 in 261 plate appearances last season and is at .259/.310/.417 over the last five years. The Phillies will again pencil him in as a second baseman against lefties and will know they’re in safe hands if an injury opens up a full-time spot in the infield. Sosa will be eligible for free agency for the first time after the season.

Duran gets a $3.375 million bump after finishing with a 2.06 ERA and racking up 32 saves for the Twins and Phillies last season. One of the game’s best closers, he’ll again be eligible for arbitration in 2027 before he’s due to become a free agent.

The 34-year-old Banks has 253 2/3 career innings with a 3.65 ERA under his belt, but this was just his first time eligible for arbitration and since he’s not a closer, he was resigned to accepting just a little more than 1.5 times the MLB minimum. With the trade of Matt Strahm to Kansas City, Banks should move up the Phillies’ depth chart a bit this year.

It’s his second year of arbitration. Stott hit .257/.328/.391 last season, putting him right in between his finishes from his breakthrough 2023 (.280/.329/.419) and his disappointing 2024 (.245/.315/.356). A plus defender at second, he’s a definite asset to the Phillies. However, now that he seems pretty well entrenched in the bottom third of the order and often sits against lefties, his fantasy ceiling is pretty limited.

Luzardo pitched well in his first year in Philadelphia, registering a 3.92 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 216/57 K/BB ratio in 183 2/3 innings. The left-hander will be back for at least one more year and then will be a free agent in 2027.

Cabrera heads to Philadelphia to compete for a bullpen spot in spring training after being jettisoned from the Twins’ 40-man roster last month. The 29-year-old southpaw spent time with four different teams this past season, including the Mets, Cubs, Pirates and Twins, posting an underwhelming 6.54 ERA — 6.56 FIP — and 35/18 K/BB ratio across 42 2/3 innings over 42 2/3 innings this past season. He’s made 312 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2019.

The 30-year-old Kolozsvary has played in 11 major league games: 10 with the Reds in 2022 and one with the Orioles in 2023. He’s spent the last two years in the Red Sox system, missing big chunks of both seasons due to injury. Overall, he’s played in 121 Triple-A games over parts of five seasons, hitting .194/.209/.338 in 407 plate appearances. He’ll enter camp no higher than fourth on the Phillies’ catching depth chart.

The details are not yet known, but we do know that the deal is a major league one. Pop only pitched 6 2/3 innings in the big leagues last year, but he allowed 11 earned runs on 15 hits. In his career, he has a 4.88 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 126/55 K/BB ratio in 162 1/3 innings out of the bullpen.

Hernández, 29, missed the majority of the 2025 season due to elbow and shoulder issues. He wound up logging just 12 innings for the Rays at Triple-A Durham where he posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 13/6 K/BB ratio. As long as he’s healthy, Hernández adds solid bullpen depth for the Phillies and should get an opportunity at some point during the 2026 season.

After dealing away left-hander Matt Strahm on Friday morning, the Phillies moved quickly to add another left-handed reliever to their bullpen mix. Backhus, 27, registered a 4.62 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and a 22/8 K/BB ratio over 25 1/3 innings across 32 appearances with the Diamondbacks in 2025, his first taste of big league action. He’ll add bullpen depth from the left side for the Phillies.

It’s an interesting reliever for reliever swap assuming that the Phillies don’t have plans to convert Bowlan to a starter next spring. The 29-year-old registered a serviceable 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 46/17 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings with the Royals last year. Given that he’s out of options, Bowlan seems destined for a middle relief role in the Phillies’ season-opening bullpen.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com adds that Jonathan Bowlan will be heading to the Phillies in the trade. It’s a terrific get for the Royals though, as Strahm has developed into one of the most reliable left-handed setup men in all of baseball. The 34-year-old southpaw registered a 2.74 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 70/20 K/BB ratio over 62 1/3 innings while snagging six saves during the 2025 campaign.

The deal is now official. Keller’s metamorphosis into an elite high-leverage reliever with the Cubs last season was fueled by a massive velocity uptick, which led to a sparkling 2.07 ERA — 2.93 FIP — 0.96 WHIP and 75/22 K/BB ratio across 69 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old journeyman fortifies Philadelphia’s setup mix leading to upper-echelon closer Jhoan Duran. He’s one of the few non-closing relief arms worthy of a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues.

He’ll be flanked by Brandon Marsh and Marsh’s platoon partner (probably Otto Kemp or Weston Wilson) in left and Adolis García in right. The Phillies could also carry Johan Rojas as a center field alternative against lefties and potential late-game defensive replacement, but the hope is that Crawford will seize the moment and turn into an everyday guy. The soon-to-be 22-year-old hit .334/.411/.452 with 46 steals in Triple-A last season, but his groundball tendencies on offense and his occasional poor routes in center make him something of a question mark.

García is slated to replace Nick Castellanos as the Phillies’ right fielder, though Castellanos will remain on the roster until the team can find someone willing to take on a portion of his $20 million salary. It may or may not prove to be an offensive upgrade for the Phillies, but García has had the better OPS+ of the two three of the last four seasons (2024 was the exception) and he’ll be a big upgrade on defense. The ballpark switch should be big for García’s fantasy value, as Globe Life Park has really punished right-handed hitters the last couple of years. He’ll still likely be a liability in terms of batting average, but he could bounce back to 25-30 homers and make a run at 90 RBI.

The Phillies were never willing to give Crawford a try last season, even as he was on his way to hitting .334/.411/.452 in Triple-A. Crawford, who turns 22 next month, is a rather controversial prospect, in part because he’s an extreme groundball hitter and because his defense in center isn’t as good as his speed would suggest. Still, he hits the ball pretty hard, he’s improved his K/BB as he’s climbed the ladder and he’s an excellent basestealer. He’d have some mixed-league potential if he proves to be an everyday guy.
