Young injured his right knee during Wednesday’s win over the Nets, as a teammate fell into the side of his right leg after being pushed by a Nets player. While he did avoid an ACL injury or any significant structural damage, Young did suffer a sprained MCL and will miss at least four weeks. Nickeil Alexander-Walker has replaced him in the starting lineup and should be rostered wherever he’s available. Luke Kennard may get more opportunities to contribute off the bench, but he’s only worth targeting where there’s a need for points and three-pointers.

Young will miss a second straight game since injuring his right knee during Wednesday’s win over the Nets. The Hawks still have not provided an update on the severity of the injury or how much time Young will miss, but he won’t be available on Sunday. The game against the Cavaliers is the last of the Hawks’ current road trip, so the team may be waiting until they return to Atlanta to provide an official timeline. Nickeil Alexander-Walker will replace Young in the starting lineup and is worth adding in standard leagues.

Daniels has gotten off to a rough start, shooting 31.6 percent from the field in his first five games. Friday’s performance was much-needed, as he shot over 50 percent from the field and provided excellent value in rebounds, assists, and steals. With Trae Young (knee) out for a yet-to-be determined amount of time, Daniels will spend more time on the basketball. That may be what that gets him going, as evidenced by his play against the Pacers.

After being limited to 36 games last season, Johnson has played well to begin the 2025-26 campaign. He’s scored 21 points or more in four of his five appearances and recorded his first double-double on Friday. Johnson finished two assists shy of a triple-double, which may become a more achievable milestone for him with Trae Young (knee) unavailable. The good news for fantasy managers is that Johnson and the Hawks have one more game during Week 2, Sunday against the Cavaliers.

The Hawks are without Trae Young (knee) for the foreseeable future, and Alexander-Walker replaced him in the starting lineup on Friday. NAW played well against the Pacers, shooting over 50 percent from the field and finishing a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. With Young unavailable, Dyson Daniels and Jalen Johnson had the ball in their hands more as playmakers, meaning that Alexander-Walker missed out on a potential boost to his assists. However, the performance was good enough to justify rostering him for as long as Young is out.

Trae Young will not play on Friday after spraining his right knee in Wednesday’s win over the Nets. Williams, who underwent surgery on his right wrist a few weeks after the Thunder won the NBA title, has not appeared in a game this season. While he appeared to be closing in on a return, ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reports the forward was dealing with irritation in his wrist caused by a screw that was inserted to aid recovery. J-Dub remaining out means Ajay Mitchell, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe will figure prominently in the rotation, with Cason Wallace continuing to start.

Rostered in 32 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Mitchell has been one of the biggest surprises in fantasy basketball thus far. He’s providing fifth-round value in 12-team formats, which is excellent production for a player barely on anyone’s radar during the preseason. The Thunder being without Jalen Williams and Isaiah Joe, with the latter making his season debut on Thursday, opened the door for Mitchell. And he’s made the most of his opportunities.

The Thunder were without Chet Holmgren for a second consecutive game on Thursday. After attempting just three shots in Tuesday’s win over the Kings, Hartenstein was more active on the offensive end of the floor against the Wizards, scoring a season-high 17 points. Despite his low free-throw percentage (54.5), Harteinstein isn’t too far outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats. He remains a must-roster player, especially in leagues that have two-center lineups.

Joe saw his first action of the 2025-26 season on Thursday and wasted no time getting to work. He hit two three-pointers during the first quarter and finished with a stat line that only lacked a blocked shot. Gilgeous-Alexander, who led the NBA in scoring last season, has scored 30 points or more in five of Oklahoma City’s first six games. The Wizards didn’t have an answer for the reigning league MVP, as he shot 55 percent from the field and did not commit a turnover. Hawks head coach Quin Snyder said after Wednesday’s win over the Nets that Young doesn’t have an issue with the ACL in his right knee, but an MRI will determine the severity of his injury. This one was a low-scoring slugfest as both teams struggled to get anything going offensively. After recording his first double-double of the season in Atlanta’s last game, Young was finally able to have the type of performance that made fantasy managers want to draft him early.
