Sunday’s game was Embiid’s first this season on one day’s rest. However, he still played 30 minutes against the Hawks and recorded a complete stat line. While Philadelphia’s two-game Week 9 isn’t good for fantasy managers, it is for Embiid. The 76ers don’t play again until Thursday in the first game of a back-to-back. Embiid should benefit from the time off, but he’s likely looking at a one-game week.

With Tyrese Maxey missing the last two games due to illness, the 76ers have looked to Edgecombe for more production. The rookie answered the call. After scoring 22 points in Friday’s win over the Pacers, he put up 26 against the Hawks, a superior defensive team. Over the past two weeks, Edgecombe has provided top-75 value in eight- and nine-cat formats, a respectable improvement on his season-long production.

Having scored at least 20 points in two of his three games before Sunday, George is beginning to round into form. The 76ers’ wing was elite in Atlanta, as he shot 7-of-10 from three and recorded a season-high point total. Over the past two weeks, George has provided top-40 per-game value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Unfortunately for those who have PG rostered, the 76ers’ Week 9 schedule is not good. In addition to them playing just twice, the games are part of a back-to-back.

While Krejčí’s production has not been consistent enough to make him a factor in fantasy basketball, he’s had his moments. The 19 points scored on Sunday were the most in a game for Krejčí since November 22, when he dropped 21 on the Pelicans. Rostered in five percent of Yahoo! leagues, he has been close to a top-100 player over the past two weeks. However, with Trae Young (knee) returning to practice next week and the Hawks being off until Thursday, there’s no need to add Krejčí following his showing against the 76ers.

With his most recent triple-double, Johnson made history on Sunday. He’s now up to eight in his career, passing Mookie Blaylock (seven) for the most in franchise history. Also, Johnson’s streak of four straight triple-doubles ties him with Denver’s Nikola Jokić for the longest current run in the NBA. While there is some fear that Trae Young’s eventual return from a knee injury may lower Johnson’s ceiling, fantasy managers should not panic. The Hawks play three games in Week 9, starting with Charlotte on Thursday.

For the first time this season, Daniels has recorded a double-double in consecutive games. And in what was his most productive night of the season, the defensive ace notched a season-high point total while shooting well over 50 percent from the field. The question for Daniels is his ability to produce consistent offense when Trae Young (knee) is available, as the point guard is expected to resume practicing sometime next week. He’ll need to if he’s to get closer to his Yahoo! ADP of 38.

While Okongwu finished Sunday’s victory with his sixth double-double of the season and first since November 30, his field-goal percentage left something to be desired. The Hawks’ center shot 1-of-7 inside the arc while making 50 percent of his three-point attempts. That said, the overall stat line more than compensates for the poor shooting. With Kristaps Porziņģis (illness) out for at least two weeks, now is the time for fantasy managers to go all-in on Okongwu. Atlanta plays three games in the final four days of Week 9, starting on Thursday.

For the first time this season, Embiid will play in a game on one day’s rest, a notable occurrence given his persistent knee issues. While he did play 32 minutes in Friday’s win over the Pacers, don’t be surprised if the 76ers look to keep Embiid away from that number. Regardless of how much he plays, fantasy managers must ensure that Embiid is in their active lineups.

Initially questionable for Sunday’s game with a sprained right ankle, Alexander-Walker’s status has been upgraded. He’ll continue to serve as the starting point guard, as Trae Young is not ready to return from the knee injury that he suffered in late October. Alexander-Walker should be rostered in 12-team leagues.

Porziņģis has missed seven of Atlanta’s last eight games, with most of the absences occurring due to illness. While it’s unknown if this current situation is connected to the illness that short-circuited the end of his 2024-25 season with the Celtics, this is concerning enough that the Hawks have decided to shut Porziņģis down for at least two more weeks. Fantasy managers should continue to stash him in an IL+ slot, and Onyeka Okongwu will remain Atlanta’s starting center. He’s already rostered in most leagues regardless of format.

No surprise here, as Maxey was listed as doubtful on Sunday evening. Maxey sat out Friday’s matchup with the Pacers, and Quentin Grimes replaced him in the starting five, posting a 10/9/4/1/1 line with a pair of triples. Grimes is likely to remain in the starting lineup for a second straight game.

Maxey did not play in Friday’s win over the Pacers, with Quentin Grimes replacing him in the starting lineup. The 76ers would likely stick to that approach on Sunday, which also means more playmaking responsibilities for VJ Edgecombe and Paul George.

Coming off his best performance of the season, Embiid faces a vital benchmark on Sunday. If he’s able to play, this would be the first time this season that the former MVP has played a game on one day’s rest. That would represent a significant step forward in Embiid’s rehab process. If he’s unable to play, Andre Drummond would slide into the starting lineup with Adem Bona serving as the backup.

Alexander-Walker, who has been starting since late October due to Trae Young’s knee injury, is dealing with a right lateral ankle sprain. If he’s unable to play on Sunday, the Hawks will likely turn to Keaton Wallace to fill the void. However, Wallace would not be the only player whose usage would increase, as Jalen Johnson would have the ball in his hands even more than he already does.

Johnson’s triple-double streak stayed alive on Friday as the versatile forward was able to extend the streak to three games, despite being on the wrong end of a blowout loss. He still logged 34 minutes, which he utilized to finish as the Hawks’ leading rebounder and playmaker on the night. The triple-double also marked his fourth in the past six games. Johnson is enjoying a career-best season in terms of his averages per game across the three major categories, and has been one of the best forwards in fantasy basketball leagues up to this point in the season.

Daniels’ production came on a night when the team struggled to stay competitive against the Pistons. Despite the one-sided score, the fourth-year guard tied a team-high in minutes at 34, which allowed him to finish as one of the team’s best scorers, facilitators, and rebounders on the evening. Daniels ended up collecting his third double-double of the season and put together a solid night from a fantasy basketball standpoint. He’ll have a chance to log another productive performance against the Sixers on Sunday.

Things went south for the Pistons while their starters were on the floor, but the one-sided contest didn’t prevent Alexander-Walker from putting up some decent stats. His scoring and three-point shooting were the main things that stood out, as he led the team in threes and total points. Despite Atlanta playing inconsistent basketball of late, the first-year Hawk continues to be productive — he’s scored over 20 points and hit at least three three-pointers in six of his last seven appearances. Alexander-Walker shouldn’t slow down much as long as he’s on the floor and in good health.

George shared the team lead in assists with VJ Edgecombe, a byproduct of the 76ers’ lack of starting point guard Tyrese Maxey (illness). While the veteran wing has started slowly after undergoing offseason knee surgery, he enjoyed his best game of the season on Friday. With Joel Embiid able to say the same thing, the 76ers (and fantasy managers) are likely encouraged by what they saw, even with the Pacers being one of the worst teams in the NBA. George will look to end Week 8 on a high note when Philadelphia visits Atlanta on Sunday.

The 76ers handled Tyrese Maxey’s absence with a committee approach, with multiple players taking on playmaking responsibilities throughout Friday’s victory. Edgecombe was among them, and he’s been responsible for at least five assists in three of his last five appearances. The rookie produced solid percentages, with the blocked shot category being the only one left empty. Rostered in 59 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Edgecombe has been a top-100 player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks.

With Tyrese Maxey (illness) unavailable, Grimes made his fifth start of the season on Friday. The rebounds and assists were encouraging, as was his recording a steal and a blocked shot. However, given Grimes’ shooting ability, fantasy managers likely hoped to get a bit more from him in the points category. If Maxey can’t play on Sunday in Atlanta, look for Grimes to remain in the starting lineup.

For his career, Embiid is averaging 30.9 points per game against the Pacers, so maybe we should have seen Friday’s performance coming. The former MVP was sensational on Friday, shooting over 50 percent from the field and making a more concerted effort to attack the Pacers’ defenders. That resulted in Embiid attempting 18 free throws, a sign that he may be on the right track recovery-wise. The points and minutes were season-highs for the 7-footer, who played 32 minutes. Philadelphia ends Week 8 with a game against the Hawks on Sunday.

Embiid is active and set to make his second straight appearance for the Sixers. Philadelphia has been off since December 7, when it lost 112-108 to the Lakers in a game in which Embiid logged 30 minutes for just the second time this season. He’s averaging 18.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game thus far. Fantasy managers are hoping the former MVP can stay healthy enough to start to see an increased workload and eventually increased production.

While the 76ers welcome back Embiid, they’ll be without Tyrese Maxey, as he is out with an illness. Grimes moves into the starting lineup, with the move also meaning that Edgecombe will have the ball in his hands more as a primary playmaker. Both players now boast higher fantasy ceilings.

Maxey’s status was downgraded from probable to questionable on Friday morning, so things may have been trending in this direction. He’s been one of the best players in fantasy basketball this season, and the 76ers won’t have an easy time filling the void. Shams notes that, “Hawks star Trae Young, who sustained a sprained MCL on Oct. 29, is optimistic about returning to action this month. The Hawks have gone 12-8 without Young in the lineup, and they believe his fit with a rising core in Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Zaccharie Risacher and Onyeka Okongwu will elevate the team.” It’s an encouraging update, but there is still no clear timeline for Young’s return. With Edgecombe playing 24 minutes in each of his three prior appearances, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said before Sunday’s game that the rookie’s minutes limit would increase “soon.” Sunday must have qualified as “soon,” since Edgecombe played 38 minutes against the Lakers. While the stat line wasn’t great, this is a spot where the increased playing time should be the focus. And with the 76ers off until Friday, Edgecombe has some time to work on his conditioning.

Embiid had a rough night shooting the basketball. In addition to missing all six of his three-point attempts, the 7-footer shot 4-of-15 from inside the arc. Many of his attempts came in the mid-range, and explosiveness seems to still be an issue in the paint. However, fantasy managers should be encouraged by Embiid playing 30 minutes, the second time he’s hit that number this season. The 76ers are off until Friday; hopefully, that time off will help Embiid as he works to get back to full strength.

On a night when Joel Embiid and Paul George (12/6/3/1) combined to score 28 points on 7-of-29 shooting, Maxey did his best to keep the 76ers afloat. Unfortunately for him, another poor third quarter did in the 76ers, with the Lakers winning the period by a 34-24 margin. Maxey finished with another excellent stat line, and he continues to provide top-five value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Johnson’s metamorphosis into one of the league’s most impactful all-around contributors continued in this one, as he recorded his second straight triple-double and his fourth in his last 12 games.
