Brown won the battle but lost the war. He was able to outscore Anthony Edwards 41-39, but the Celtics ended up coming up short on the scoreboard. Brown matched his season high for scoring, which allowed him to exceed 30 points for a third straight game. He also set a new career high for steals. This was arguably Brown’s best game of the season, and he’ll look to stay hot against the Cavaliers on Sunday, which will be the second night of a back-to-back.

Hauser hasn’t been able to provide much consistent value this season, but he has been solid lately, having hit four triples in two of his last three appearances. He started the first two games of the year but has been in a reserve role since then. Unless he gets the chance to start, he isn’t worth rostering in standard leagues, even if he has had a pair of strong performances recently.

Queta missed Wednesday’s game against Detroit, which allowed Luka Garza to start in his place. Garza only played five minutes off the bench in this one, while Queta logged 29 minutes. That was enough time for Queta to set a new career-high for rebounds. This was his fourth double-double this year, and in his first season as a full-time starter, Queta has been a top-100 player in nine-category scoring. He will continue to be a must-roster player for the rest of the season.

After Jalen Suggs (14/4/1/4/1 with two three-pointers) made two free throws with just over six seconds remaining to push the Magic lead out to three, Black made the play that clinched a spot in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. His rejection of a Duncan Robinson three-point attempt sealed the victory, and the third-year guard continues to make strides. Black didn’t shoot the ball well from the field, but fantasy managers still received solid value due to the overall line. Rostered in 21 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he has provided 10th-round value in nine-cat formats over the past two weeks. Suggs has also been excellent for category league managers, but his availability is what keeps Black on the radar in some 12-team leagues.

Wagner has scored at least 20 points in three of his last four and 15 of his 20 appearances this season. With Paolo Banchero (groin) out, the Magic have looked to Wagner more often, and on most nights, he has been up to the task. He finished Friday’s victory just a three-pointer and a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line, but managers will benefit from the points, rebounds and steals. The Magic play four games during Week 7, beginning with the Bulls on Monday.

Interestingly, while Bane scored a season-high 37 points, he did not make a single three-pointer. The Magic guard missed all five of his attempts, but he shot 65 percent from inside the arc and was a frequent visitor to the foul line. All that was missing from Bane’s stat line was a three-pointer, and the overall production compensated for that. Over the past two weeks, he has been close to a top-25 player in nine-cat formats, rebounding from a slow start to the season. White didn’t do much during the first half, scoring just two points on 0-of-3 shooting from the field. He did whatever needed to be done at the halftime break, because the Celtics guard was far more assertive on offense. White scored 25 second-half points, shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Despite the many roster changes over the offseason, White’s scoring has decreased. Of course, he’s more of a focal point for opposing defenses this season, and that also impacts White’s ability to put up points. The good news is that he’s still providing top-50 value, as testament to his all-around skill set.

Scheierman’s first half certainly raised some eyebrows, as he scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting. That production helped keep the Celtics within striking distance, especially with Derrick White scoring two points. However, White got going after halftime, and Scheierman only attempted one shot in the second half. The second-year guard is capable of providing offensive value, but it hasn’t happened consistently. There’s no need to roster Scheierman in redraft leagues.

Brown recorded a robust stat line in the Celtics’ three-point victory, but the efficiency was lacking for managers who require more in that regard. In addition to the low field-goal percentage, the Celtics wing was responsible for a game-high six turnovers. That category is why Brown is ranked just outside the top-75 in nine-cat formats, as he’s averaging 3.8 turnovers per game. With Jayson Tatum (Achilles) out and the Celtics’ rotation being far more dependent upon Brown, the turnovers aren’t a surprise. As long as he does the other things well, as was the case on Wednesday, there shouldn’t be too much concern over the occasional inefficient night.

The Magic looked extremely sluggish on the second night of a back-to-back after a late arrival into Boston and playing without offensive catalyst Paolo Banchero for the sixth straight game while he continues recovering from a groin strain.
