After scoring 18 points in Friday’s loss to the Clippers, Monk will not play against the Cavaliers. His absence frees up opportunities for some of the Kings’ reserves, especially with Zach LaVine and De’Andre Hunter also out. Nique Clifford, Devin Carter and Daeqwon Plowden should play plenty, with the former likely moving into the starting lineup.

Hunter injured his left eye after taking an inadvertent hit from Clippers’ wing Kobe Sanders. The Kings’ forward/guard has been diagnosed with left eye iritis, which is swelling and irritation in the colored ring around the pupil. Hopefully, this will not be an injury that keeps Hunter sidelined for an extended period. Nique Clifford, who logged 33 minutes on Friday, may move into the starting lineup after coming off the bench.

The rookie center took advantage of increased minutes on Friday and logged arguably his best game as a professional. He’s notched back-to-back double-digit rebound games and could realistically carve out a consistent role with this team, given where they are in the standings at this point in the season. Cardwell recently signed a standard contract with the Kings after going undrafted and agreeing to a two-way deal.

Monk was consistent as a scorer throughout Friday’s contest, but his biggest moments came in the third and fourth quarters, when his three-point shooting put the Kings on a run and at one point gave them a fourth-quarter lead. All of the veteran combo-guard’s scoring came from deep in this game, as he finished with at least six triples for the third time this season. Monk appears to be firmly back in the nightly rotation following a stretch earlier in the season in which he saw DNP’s. He’s capable of big nights, but isn’t someone fantasy managers should get excited about.

Clifford was one of several Kings players to make an impact off the bench on Friday. He was productive in his 33 minutes, tallying a few stocks and finishing as one of Sacramento’s two-best scorers on the evening. Clifford’s production is largely a result of how little the starters played on Friday. Still, he was productive and has scored at least 14 points in three of his last four appearances.

Hunter was struck near the eye during the third quarter of Friday’s contest when attempting to defend the Clippers’ Kobe Sanders. He exited the game and was eventually ruled out during the fourth quarter. Hunter, who was recently acquired by the Kings via trade, has started in each of his two appearances with the team. If he has to miss any time, Nique Clifford could see an increased role.

Vučević came off the bench in his Celtics debut, and the veteran center put up a double-double. Vooch logged 28 minutes, with Luka Garza (two points, three rebounds) being the holdover whose opportunities took the biggest hit. He started but logged 10 minutes, while Neemias Queta (two points, 11 rebounds, and one assist) logged 22. With Vučević in the fold, those who have Queta rostered can afford to be patient, while Garza managers should seek alternatives immediately.

Pritchard has scored at least 24 points in each of the last three games. The move to the bench appears to have enhanced the guard’s value, an unsurprising development since he won Sixth Man of the Year last season. Just as crucial for fantasy managers is that Pritchard is still playing starters’ minutes. Those who have him rostered may consider selling high in the final days before the default fantasy trade deadline, but they may be better off holding onto Pritchard.

While he didn’t shoot the ball well on Friday, category league managers didn’t take much of a haircut because of White’s overall value. After totaling four blocked shots in his previous seven games, White matched that number on Friday. The four rejections were three shy of his season and career-highs, which were recorded on December 30 against the Jazz. Despite the low field-goal percentage, White is providing third-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats, according to Basketball Monster.

Brown and the Celtics started slowly, with the Heat outscoring Boston 29-15 in the first quarter and the All-Star wing shooting 1-of-6 from the field. The home team would eventually get going, pulling even with a 25-7 third-quarter run. Brown has scored at least 29 points in seven of his last ten games, continuing to play at an elite level. Sabonis has appeared in just one of the Kings’ last three games, and he’s logged only 19 games this season due to lingering injuries. With Jaylen Brown out due to injury and Anfernee Simons traded, the Celtics called on Harper to move into the starting lineup. Queta was dominant in Wednesday’s blowout of the Rockets, finishing one rebound and one blocked shot shy of his career-highs in those categories. Add in the steals and percentages, and this was an excellent night for Queta managers. The question now is how Nikola Vučević’s arrival affects Queta, but that may be a greater concern for Luka Garza (19/6/2/2 with two three-pointers in 34 minutes). At a minimum, the Celtics’ frontcourt rotation received a needed boost via the Vučević trade.

After shooting 4-of-13 from the field in Tuesday’s win over the Mavericks, White was better as the Celtics used a huge third quarter to win in Houston without Jaylen Brown.
