Poeltl, who exited Friday’s preseason finale with lower back stiffness, is available and will take on his usual starting center role Wednesday night. Also of note is Ingram, who will play his first regular-season game since December 7. Sidelined by a high ankle sprain, the former Pelicans wing was healthy during the preseason and played well.

The biggest news for the Celtics was that Brown (hamstring) was cleared to play in Wednesday’s season opener. Pritchard will start alongside White in the backcourt, while Queta will receive the nod at the center position. Queta isn’t worth adding in standard leagues yet, but a good start to the season would change that.

Poeltl exited early from Friday’s preseason game due to lower back stiffness, but that isn’t going to keep him from playing in the season opener. He’ll occupy the starting center spot for Toronto this season, which has resulted in him being drafted in the seventh round of Yahoo! leagues.

CMB missed time during the preseason with what was being called an elbow injury, and the Raptors are now labeling it as a forearm strain. Jonathan Mogbo will likely fill CMB’s reserve minutes behind Scottie Barnes until Murray-Boyles returns.

Walter is sick, so this likely won’t be a lengthy absence for him. Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji will fill out a few extra reserve minutes on the wing with Walter sidelined.

Brown, who exited early from the Celtics’ preseason finale, has logged consecutive full practices, which is a great sign for his potential availability in the regular season opener on Wednesday. With Jayson Tatum (Achilles) sidelined for the year, Boston will lean on Brown more than ever on both ends of the floor. Ensuring he’s completely healthy will be important for the Celtics as they make the decision on his status against Philadelphia.

King also reports that Brown went through a full practice on Monday, which is an encouraging update. It’s unclear if he’ll be ready to face 76ers on Wednesday. If he’s not, Josh Minott and Anfernee Simons would be candidates for increased run.

Two days after being waived by the Raptors, Lawson has returned to the franchise on a two-way deal. In three NBA seasons, the 6-foot-6 wing has appeared in 83 games, including 26 for the Raptors last season. He’ll likely see most of his playing time with the Raptors’ G League affiliate, which would not impact fantasy basketball.

Quickley’s 10 assists were a preseason-high. The 26-year-old point guard has now made at least five three-pointers in two of his last three preseason games. Quickley played 34 minutes Friday as the Raptors get closer to the end of the preseason. After playing an abbreviated season last year due to injury, Quickley is once against being counted on heavily by the Raptors and could be undervalued in fantasy drafts due to the previous injury.

Barnes had just seven points on 13 shots against the Celtics on Wednesday. He bounced back in a major way against the Nets on Friday with 31 points on 15 attempts. Barnes also got to the free throw line 12 times and made 11 attempts. The 24-year-old small forward put his fantasy managers at ease for now with a much better shooting night after going 6-of-30 from the field to begin the preseason.

Appearing in his second game of the preseason, Poeltl played 24 minutes before exiting with lower back stiffness. This is the same issue that sidelined the Raptors’ starting center for the beginning of the preseason, with Poeltl not making his debut until Wednesday night against the Celtics. He’ll have a few days to recover for the start of the regular season, as the Raptors don’t open until October 22. If Poeltl cannot play, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jonathan Mogbo should see their playing time increase.

Murray-Boyles injured his right elbow during Toronto’s October 10 exhibition against the Celtics and has not played since. While the rookie will not play on Friday, there’s hope that he’ll be good to go for the Raptors’ regular-season opener on October 22. Murray-Boyles’ defensive versatility should get him into the rotation once healthy, but he may not significantly impact fantasy basketball early on.

Harper Jr. landed a training camp deal with Boston in August, and his strong preseason play has earned him a spot on the team’s final 15-man roster. With Jayson Tatum out for most if not all of the year and Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis playing for new teams, Harper Jr. has a realistic chance to earn meaningful rotation minutes at some point this season.

Payton Pritchard struggled and Jaylen Brown (hamstring) exited early, but White stepped up in a big way. White didn’t play the entire game, since it was just an exhibition, but he certainly left his mark. Especially if Brown ends up missing time, White will have a chance to have the best season of his career and dominate in fantasy basketball. Even if the Celtics aren’t able to win as much as they typically have in recent years, White can still help managers win fantasy championships.

Queta got the starting nod in this game and was able to make his mark in a way that makes him an enticing late-round target. It’s unclear if he will remain part of the starting unit, but he will have a chance to compete for the spot, and should at least play a significant reserve role. Queta is worth a swing at the end of drafts.

It has been a rough preseason for Barnes, and that continued on Wednesday. He has shot 6-of-30 from the floor through three preseason outings, though there shouldn’t be much concern at this point, since these are only exhibition games. They have one more game on Friday for him to get back on track before the regular season begins.

Though it’s just the preseason, Ingram’s tenure as a Raptor has gotten off to a strong start. After a lost season in New Orleans where he only played 18 games, Ingram can bounce back in a big way, as long as he is able to remain healthy. Through three games, he’s averaging 20 points and 2.7 threes in 25.7 minutes per game.

The Celtics started Chris Boucher, Sam Hauser, Payton Pritchard, Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, but Simons led all players in minutes in this one. He may come off the bench for Boston to start the regular season, but even as a reserve, he should see ample playing time as one of the team’s best offensive options. Simons will be a great three-point specialist in fantasy leagues, but doesn’t contribute much in the other categories.

Sarr’s production wasn’t off the charts, but he hit the most important shot of the game. Down 112-111 with 0.8 seconds left on the clock, Sarr caught an alley-oop inbounds pass from Jared Rhoden and laid it up for the game-winning bucket at the buzzer. Olivier and brother Alex of the Wizards played their first head-to-head matchup in the NBA and exchanged jerseys after the contest.

Quickley led Toronto in the scoring department thanks in large part to his five made three-pointers. IQ logged just 33 appearances a season ago, and fantasy managers will hope for a healthier season when selecting him on draft day. He profiles as a mid-round selection, likely becoming a viable pick around the fifth or sixth round in most standard drafts.

After sitting all five expected starters in Friday’s win over the Celtics, the Raptors will have Quickley, Barrett and Barnes on the court Sunday afternoon. Jakob Poeltl remains out and Brandon Ingram will miss a second straight game, resulting in starts for Walter and Mamukelashvili. While the latter is essentially guaranteed a spot in the Raptors’ regular-season rotation, Walter could use a good effort on Sunday to help separate from the pack among Toronto’s surplus of reserve wings.

Toronto rested its entire starting lineup for Friday’s exhibition game. While that did not result in Hepburn moving into the starting five, it did free up additional minutes for him off the bench. And the two-way contract player out of Louisville took full advantage, helping spark a fourth-quarter rally that turned a 10-point deficit into a two-point victory. Hepburn is not someone to consider in redraft leagues. Still, the defensive intensity and the success of Toronto’s G League program make him an intriguing late-round option in dynasty drafts.

Gradey was not part of the Raptors’ fourth-quarter rally, which was capped by a Jonathan Mogbo (8/5/3/1) layup in the final seconds. However, the third-year wing was excellent while on the court. Gradey shot the ball well from the field and was an active rebounder, which is what he’ll need to do to carve out a consistent role for himself when the starters are available. The Raptors rested their usual starters for Friday’s game, resulting in more opportunities for Gradey and the others. He isn’t a player worth drafting, but there may be streaming opportunities throughout the season, especially considering Brandon Ingram’s injury history.

Playing against the Raptors for the first time, Boucher received a warm welcome in Toronto. The return to Canada may have gotten the Montreal native fired up, as he was excellent in 23 minutes of action. After years of unfulfilled fantasy potential, this may be the year when Boucher comes through for those who refused to give up on him. Boston’s frontcourt rotation is anything but settled, which may mean consistent playing time for Boucher. He’s worth taking a late-round flier on.

With Derrick White and Jaylen Brown resting, the Celtics opened Friday’s exhibition with a backcourt of Pritchard and Anfernee Simons. They played well off of each other, combining to score 37 points to help Boston build what appeared to be a solid lead heading into the fourth quarter. Head coach Joe Mazzulla went deep into his bench then, and the Raptors outscored the Celtics 30-18 to grab the win. As for Pritchard, he’s a must-draft player after an excellent 2024-25 season, especially with the Celtics’ many roster changes and Jayson Tatum’s Achilles tendon rupture.

Simons was not on the floor when the Celtics blew a big lead during the fourth quarter, having been shut down late in the third quarter. And the former Trail Blazer looked pretty good during his 26 minutes, shooting just under 50 percent from the field. With Derrick White and Jaylen Brown getting the night off, there wasn’t anything to learn regarding Simons’ fit with his most prominent teammates. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, he’ll be well-positioned to provide solid offensive value when the regular season begins.

Murray-Boyles, inserted into the Raptors’ starting lineup for Friday’s game, suffered a right elbow contusion during the first quarter and did not return. The lottery pick only played eight minutes, finishing with four points (2-of-3 FGs), one rebound and one assist. The Raptors don’t open the regular season until October 22; hopefully, that’s enough time for Murray-Boyles to get back to full strength. Toronto’s projected starters are resting, so the team’s second unit will start Friday’s preseason home opener. Murray-Boyles, the Raptors’ first-round pick in June’s draft, can play power forward or center, which can also be said for Mamukelashvili. Boucher is the lone holdover from the lineup that started Wednesday’s win over the Grizzlies. Simons and Pritchard make up the starting backcourt, with the former making his unofficial Celtics debut after being traded from Portland to Boston during the summer. This change may mean Derrick White and Jaylen Brown will get the night off after playing well in Memphis. Also of note are the inclusion of Minott and Queta, with the former giving Boston good minutes off the bench in the preseason opener.

Murray-Boyles, the ninth overall pick in this summer’s draft, provided a solid stat line in his second preseason game. Having struggled in Toronto’s preseason opener, the rookie forward looked far more comfortable Wednesday night. While Murray-Boyles is listed at 6-foot-8, the Raptors have not hesitated to go small under Darko Rajakovic, as evidenced by Jonathan Mogbo (5/7/2/2) starting at center for the sidelined Jakob Poeltl. The Raptors’ willingness to go small in an attempt to sew chaos defensively may result in consistent opportunities for Murray-Boyles once the regular season begins, and he could be especially valuable later in the year if Toronto is not in contention for a playoff spot.

Due to Toronto’s logjam on the wings, Walter’s chances of getting the playing time needed to impact fantasy basketball this season may be limited. However, he showed signs on Wednesday that he could be a player that Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic trusts with consistent bench minutes. Walter was active on both ends of the floor against the Kings, with his production being one reason the Raptors picked up the victory. Walter doesn’t qualify as a must-draft player by any stretch of the imagination in redraft leagues, but there may be times during the season when he steps up as a streamer.

Despite being sidelined since December 7 with an ankle injury, Ingram has looked good in his first two preseason games with the Raptors. He shot 5-of-7 from deep in Wednesday’s win over the Kings and 13-of-27 from the field overall through two games. Toronto did not have Scottie Barnes for Wednesday’s game, freeing up additional on-ball opportunities for Ingram. However, touches are unlikely to be an issue for him at any point, whether Barnes is on the court or not. When available, Ingram is a solid fantasy asset. However, past availability issues push him down some draft boards, as fantasy managers have to anticipate at least one extended absence per season.

Among the players the Celtics bid farewell to this offseason was Jrue Holiday, whose departure means White’s role should expand in 2025-26. Add in Jayson Tatum’s absence, and this could be a massive season for a player whose game has long been “fantasy-friendly.” White accumulated 10 assists on Wednesday, a number he’s met or exceeded 14 times in the last three seasons. As of October 8, White boasted a Yahoo! ADP of 38.1; don’t be surprised if he’s off the board by the end of the third round in some 12-team leagues.

Having done more than enough damage in the first half, Brown did not play at all after halftime in Wednesday’s preseason opener. Having undergone an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee in June, the Celtics wing is in a spot where his already-large role will expand this season. The Celtics will be without Jayson Tatum (Achilles) for most of the season, meaning it will be up to Brown and Derrick White to lead the way. That will undoubtedly raise their fantasy ceilings, but percentages have been an issue for Brown in the past.

Walsh played eight first-half minutes before the Celtics announced during the intermission that he was doubtful to return. In addition to Jakob Poellt, the Raptors will be without Scottie Barnes for the team’s second preseason game. Wednesday’s game is the preseason opener for the Celtics, so fantasy managers should not read too much into the team’s starting lineup. White and Brown are the expected starters and should see their fantasy ceilings rise due to Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury and the departure of multiple rotation players. As for Hauser, Boucher and Tillman, they’ll be in the mix for rotation minutes throughout the season, but none is guaranteed to be a starter on Opening Night.
