    Taylor Hendricks

    Taylor Hendricks

    UTA • Forward • #0

    Recap

Taylor Hendricks totaled 14 points (5-of-8 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, one assist and two three-pointers on Sunday in the loss to the Hornets.

Hendricks got his first start of the season and ended up being one of Utah’s most productive players. The third-year forward was one of three Jazz players to score in double figures on Sunday, and he was the only starter to shoot at least 50.0 percent from the field. Hendricks also attacked the offensive glass hard in his 25 minutes and made contributions from beyond the arc. He performed well in his first start and could be a name to highlight and remember for later in the fantasy season.

    Keyonte George

    Keyonte George

    UTA • Guard • #3

    Recap

Keyonte George tallied 25 points (8-of-18 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), two rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in the loss to the Hornets on Sunday.

George’s hot start to the season continued on Sunday, as he scored at least 25 points for the third time this season and notched at least seven assists for the sixth time. The third-year guard also logged one of his more efficient shooting performances of the season, despite remaining cold from beyond the arc. The three-point shot continues to be one of the few negatives on the season for George, but if he can even land the mediocre efficiency that he produced over the first two seasons of his career, he’ll become even more valuable in fantasy leagues.

    Lauri Markkanen

    Lauri Markkanen

    UTA • Forward-Center • #23

    Recap

Lauri Markkanen added 29 points (12-of-28 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, three assists and three three-pointers in Sunday’s loss to the Hornets.

Markannen’s four-game streak of at least 30 points came to an end on Sunday, with inefficient shooting from deep and low volume from the free-throw line being some of the biggest factors. Sunday’s outing also marked his lowest field goal percentage of the young season. Still, the veteran forward logged a team-high in points and was one of two players to record more than 20 points. He’s off to a tremendous start to the season and is showing that his lower production last season may be more of an anomaly than anything else.

    Taylor Hendricks

    Taylor Hendricks

    UTA • Forward • #0

Taylor Hendricks, Jusuf Nurkic, Lauri Markannen, Svi Mykhauiliuk and Keyonte George will start on Sunday against the Hornets.

Mykhailuk and Hendricks will both enter the starting lineup on Sunday, filling in for Kyle Filipowski and Walker Kessler. Neither player’s production has jumped off the page from a fantasy basketball standpoint yet this season, but with starters’ minutes, they could be interesting streaming options as the Jazz look to snap a two-game losing streak. Nurkic, in particular, could be on double-double watch — he’s averaging 7.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game.

    Injury

Walker Kessler (shoulder) has returned to Salt Lake City to receive further testing on his left shoulder.

Kessler, who missed time during the preseason with left shoulder bursitis, experienced a flare-up and was already ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Hornets. With the Jazz sending him back to Salt Lake City for further testing, the 7-footer will miss at least three more games. Utah’s road trip ends in Minnesota on Friday. Jusuf Nurkić will start Sunday’s game against the Hornets and will likely retain that role for the remaining three games of the road trip.

    Josh Minott

    Josh Minott

    BOS • Forward • #8

    Recap

Josh Minott contributed 10 points (3-of-11 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, three assists and two steals over 19 minutes during Saturday’s blowout loss to the Rockets.

Minott continues to provide a spark in his Celtics debut as he’s found a way to contribute across the board for fantasy purposes. He’s been a bit streaky as a shooter, but he’s done a nice job chipping in from a defense and rebounding standpoint thanks to his athleticism and motor. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in deeper fantasy leagues as he’ll remain a key component of the new-look Celtics’ rotation moving forward. Boston begins a four-game week with favorable home matchups against the rebuilding Jazz and Wizards before heading to Orlando for back-to-back road contests.

    Baylor Scheierman

    Baylor Scheierman

    Recap

Baylor Scheierman delivered 17 points (6-of-7 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), five rebounds, one assist and two steals over 22 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Rockets.

Scheierman saw extended run in the second half with the Celtics getting blown out on the second night of a back-to-back. He made the most of the opportunity, hitting 6-of-7 shots — including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Performances like this can only help his chances of carving out a more consistent role in Boston’s rotation.

Derrick White (neck) and Payton Pritchard (ankle) are available for Saturday’s game against the Rockets.

    Injury

Walker Kessler (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game against the Hornets.

Kessler is once again dealing with left shoulder bursitis, which sidelined him for a portion of the preseason. Jusuf Nurkić is a prime candidate to replace him in the starting lineup, but the veteran center’s streaming value will be limited with Lauri Markkanen on the court.

    Injury

Payton Pritchard (ankle) and Derrick White (neck) are probable for Saturday’s game against the Rockets.

Both players scored 15 points in the Celtics’ one-point win over the 76ers on Friday night. Pritchard and White are both probable with various injuries on the second night of a back-to-back against the Rockets. It’s likely both of them suit up given their probable injury designations. Anfernee Simons would be counted on for even more scoring if either Pritchard or White is ultimately ruled out.

    Kyle Anderson

    Kyle Anderson

    UTA • Forward-Guard • #20

    Recap

Kyle Anderson accumulated eight points (3-of-6 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), three rebounds and three assists in Friday’s loss to the Suns.

Making his first official appearance for the Jazz, Anderson logged 25 minutes. Given Utah’s youth, that was surprising to say the least. Anderson’s playing time came at the expense of Kyle Filipowski (two points, two rebounds and one assist in 10 minutes), who played the first eight minutes and did not return until the outcome was no longer in doubt. The minutes split was an eye-opening development given Filipowski’s ceiling, especially when compared to Anderson’s. Filipowski didn’t play well in his first stint, but fantasy managers must track Utah’s rotation in Sunday’s game against the Hornets.

    Keyonte George

    Keyonte George

    UTA • Guard • #3

    Recap

Keyonte George recorded 17 points (3-of-10 FGs, 9-of-11 FTs), eight rebounds, nine assists, one steal, one block and two three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Suns.

With Isaiah Collier (hamstring) having recently been cleared for full on-court participation, it’s only a matter of time until he’s recalled from the G League. However, George has played well enough to retain the starting point guard job, even with Friday’s cold shooting night against the Suns. He was active on the boards and dished out nine assists while committing three turnovers. Despite averaging four turnovers per game, George provides top-50 value in nine-cat formats. If anyone’s going to lose out on minutes when Collier returns, it’s more likely to be Walter Clayton Jr., who only played eight minutes on Friday, than George.

    Walker Kessler

    Walker Kessler

    UTA • Center • #24

    Recap

Walker Kessler tallied four points (2-of-5 FGs), 13 rebounds, one assist and one steal in Friday’s loss to the Suns.

While Kessler did his usual work on the glass Friday night, his offensive production was underwhelming. He’s had two offensive duds, the first being a three-point effort against the Kings on October 24. The good news is that Kessler scored 18 or more in his other three outings, taking tangible steps forward on that end of the floor. He didn’t get the contract extension he wanted before the season began, but things could get expensive for the Jazz next summer if Kessler can build on his first five games.

    Lauri Markkanen

    Lauri Markkanen

    UTA • Forward-Center • #23

    Recap

Lauri Markkanen amassed 33 points (10-of-20 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs), four rebounds, one block and four three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Suns.

While he didn’t provide any defensive production on Friday, fantasy managers don’t roster Markkanen for that reason. It’s the offense, and he’s been on fire to start the season. “The Finnisher” has 32 points or more in four straight games, including a 51-point effort against the Suns on Monday. Markkanen attempted 12 fewer shots on Friday than in the first matchup between the teams, but still dropped 30-plus. Sunday’s matchup with the Hornets could be good for him, as Charlotte is 26th in defensive rating.

    Payton Pritchard

    Payton Pritchard

    BOS • Guard • #11

    Recap

Payton Pritchard had 15 points (7-of-17 FGs), two rebounds, five assists, two steals and one three-pointer against the 76ers on Friday.

Pritchard shot 40.7 percent from behind the three-point line last year, but entering play Friday he was at 18.9 percent this year. The 27-year-old point guard proceeded to go 1-of-9 from three-point land against the 76ers on Friday. Pritchard obviously has an opportunity for more usage with Jayson Tatum (Achilles) out this year, but it might not matter if he can’t find his three-point jump shot.

    Anfernee Simons

    Anfernee Simons

    BOS • Guard • #1

    Recap

Anfernee Simons had 19 points (7-of-21 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), four rebounds, two assists, one block and three three-pointers against the 76ers on Friday.

Simons had 19 points in 29 minutes off the bench, but he could’ve had a lot more if he shot better than 33 percent from the field. The 26-year-old shooting guard had more attempts than anyone else wearing Celtic green, including Jaylen Brown, who had 32 points. Simons was truly a volume scorer against the 76ers on Friday, which is difficult for fantasy managers because he contribute much in the other categories.

    Jaylen Brown

    Recap

Jaylen Brown had 32 points (13-of-19 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and four three-pointers in the Celtics’ 109-108 victory over the 76ers on Friday night.

Brown continues to take on a bigger scoring role in the absence of Jayson Tatum. The 29-year-old shooting guard had 25 and 23 points in the Celtics’ first two games, both of which they lost. Brown has now scored at least 30 points in three of the last four games and the Celtics have now won three of their last four games. On Friday, his 32 points were a game-high in the victory. The Celtics finish the week at home against the Rockets on Saturday.

Celtics will exercise the third-year $2.74 million team option on Baylor Scheierman for the 2026-27 season.

Scheierman was the 30th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He has appeared in four games for the Celtics this season, averaging only 8.5 minutes per game. His role may increase as the season goes on and the Celtics adapt to life without Jayson Tatum. For now, he remains off all fantasy radars.

    Recap

Walekr Kessler accumulated 18 points (7-of-12 FGs, 1-of-3 FTs), 12 rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s loss to the Trail Blazers.

Is Kessler going through a Brook Lopez-like transformation right before our eyes? Probably not, but the increased confidence in his perimeter shot has been great to see. On Wednesday, Kessler shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and is 6-of-8 on the season. In 2024-25, he shot 6-of-34 from deep and entered this season 11-of-56. Add in the points, rebounds, defensive stats and improved assists, and Kessler has been a top-15 player in nine-cat formats thus far. Will he remain there? Who knows. However, with the improved perimeter shot, his ceiling may be higher than many fantasy managers imagined.

    Recap

Keyonte George (head) accounted for 29 points (6-of-14 FGs, 15-of-15 FTs), two rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two three-pointers.

George was inadvertently kneed in the head during the fourth quarter. After some time in the locker room, he returned, which may be a positive sign regarding the severity of the injury. George has exceeded his Yahoo! ADP of 118 thus far, sitting just outside the top-50 in nine-cat formats. He’s still rostered in 53 percent of Yahoo! leagues, which is too low a percentage with Isaiah Collier still unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

    Recap

Lauri Markkanen finished Wednesday’s loss to the Trail Blazers with 32 points (10-of-19 FGs, 10-of-12 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, three steals, three blocks and two three-pointers.

Based on his hot start, fantasy managers who decided to pass on Markkanen in drafts due to late-season tanking concerns may regret their choices. He’s scored 30 points or more in three straight games, a feat he did not accomplish during the 2024-25 season. Wednesday’s final stat line was robust, with the 32 points being supplemented by five rebounds and six “stocks.” Through four games, Markkanen is providing top-10 fantasy value, which may prompt some managers to entertain the possibility of selling high. That said, there’s nothing wrong with holding onto Lauri, either.

    Recap

Sam Hauser recorded 21 points (7-of-13 FGs), three rebounds, one assist and seven three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers.

While Boston won the second quarter by a 35-18 margin, Hauser’s shooting late in the first quarter set the stage. The Celtics forward shot 5-of-6 from three in the second quarter, providing excellent value in the two categories he’s expected to. Hauser remains an option for managers needing points and three-pointers, but he will offer minimal category-league value overall.

    Josh Minott

    Recap

Josh Minott finished Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers with 11 points (4-of-9 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), 14 rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block and two three-pointers.

After falling one rebound shy of a double-double in Monday’s win over the Pelicans, his first start as a Celtic, Minott was even better on the glass against Cleveland. Not only were his 14 rebounds a career-high, but this was also the second time in his career that Minott had reached double digits in that category (February 8, 2023, with the Timberwolves). Hugo González, who was replaced in the lineup by Minott, only played three minutes on Wednesday. Only rostered in three percent of Yahoo! leagues, Minott is providing top-50 fantasy value. That may not last for the entire season, but he’s worth a look in deep leagues with the move into the starting lineup.

    Neemias Queta

Neemias Queta tallied 10 points (3-of-5 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers.

For those skeptical about Queta’s play at EuroBasket this summer carrying over into the regular season, he’s performing quite well as the Celtics’ starting center. He held his own against Cleveland’s “twin towers,” grabbing a season-high 13 rebounds and recording his second consecutive double-double. Rostered in 24 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Queta is providing top-75 fantasy value, far exceeding the expectations of most fantasy managers. With the Celtics playing on Friday and Saturday, he’s worthy of consideration in deep leagues.

    Derrick White

    Derrick White

    Recap

Derrick White shot 5-of-20 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers, scoring 19 points with five rebounds, four assists, one steal and three three-pointers.

White struggled with his shot on Wednesday. He made just two of his eight two-point attempts and was 3-of-12 from three. The good news for fantasy managers is that White was perfect at the charity stripe while providing decent value in the rebound and assist categories. Given how well he’s performed in recent years, fantasy managers should consider Wednesday’s performance to be a blip on the radar for White. He’ll look to bounce back when the Celtics visit the 76ers on Friday.

Jaylen Brown tallied 30 points (12-of-20 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and four three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers.

Brown showed no ill effects from his lingering hamstring injury. The Celtics star shot 60 percent from the field and recorded a complete stat line, helping Boston take control of the game during the second quarter and never look back. Unfortunately for those who have Brown rostered, the Celtics have another back-to-back on the horizon, scheduled for Friday (at Philadelphia) and Saturday (vs. Houston). Brown hasn’t missed a game yet this season, but the latter contest is worth watching since Friday’s game will be nationally televised.

The probable tag makes it likely that he’ll play, but the Celtics end their Week 2 schedule with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back against the 76ers and Rockets. Not only did Markkanen set a new career-high for points, but he was able to have the first 50-point regular season game for the Jazz since April 7, 1998. It has been a strong start to the year for Markkanen after a down 2024-25 season; he is averaging 34.7 points and 4.7 three-pointers per game. Whether or not the Jazz trade him or keep him, he’s doing everything he can to improve his value. His fifth-round Yahoo! ADP is looking like a bargain at this point. He’ll look to stay hot with the Trail Blazers coming to town on Wednesday.

Keyonte George lit up the Suns on Monday with 26 points (8-of-18 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, 10 assists, one steal and two three-pointers.

This was one of the best performances of George’s career as he finished with at least 25 points and 10 assists for the first time. Through three games, he is averaging 20.0 points and 9.7 assists per game, both of which would be the best marks of his career. He has stepped up with Isaiah Collier (hamstring) sidelined, and if he keeps playing this well, it’s difficult to imagine Collier not keeping the starting point guard job when Collier gets healthy.

Walker Kessler recorded a double-double on Monday with 25 points (9-of-12 FGs), 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and one three-pointer against the Suns.

After a quiet performance in the Jazz’s loss to the Kings on Friday, Kessler bounced back with a monster night. Through three games, he is now averaging 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals, 2.7 blocks and 1.0 triple per game while shooting 85 percent from the floor and 76.5 percent from the line. Rebounds aside, those would all be career highs. Will this level of production continue? No, but it’s been an amazing start for him.

Anfernee Simons amassed a game-high 25 points (9-of-17 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), six rebounds, one assist, one steal and six three-pointers to lead the Celtics to a 122-90 blowout win over the Pelicans on Monday.

Simons served as Boston’s go-to-option during a fourth-quarter offensive surge that put the Pelicans away for good. He came off the bench to knock down six three-pointers, shooting nearly 50 percent from downtown to help the Celtics snap a three-game losing streak to open the season. The 26-year-old should have the green light all year in his Boston debut as they’ll need to unleash a barrage of three pointers each night to have any chance of overcoming their size disadvantage on the glass.

Brown came into this one questionable with a left hamstring strain that he’s been playing through since the preseason after reaching the 40-point plateau for the 12th time in his career during Sunday’s loss to the Pistons. The Celtics were able to lean on Anfernee Simons and a couple additional role players down the stretch as they pulled away for an easy win.
