McNeeley enjoyed his best outing of the season on Sunday, recording new highs in points and three-pointers. The rookie wing hit three triples in the first half, giving the Hornets a welcome spark off the bench. Unfortunately, McNeeley suffered a left quad contusion during the second half, spending some time on the sideline with a heating pad on his thigh. The Hornets won’t play again until Friday; hopefully, that’s enough time for McNeeley to get back to full strength.

With LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton unavailable due to injury, Bridges spent more time on the ball as a playmaker on Sunday. That factored into him dishing out a season-high eight assists, finishing two helpers and a rebound shy of a triple-double. Sunday’s performance occurred at a good time for Bridges and those who have him rostered, as he’s ranked outside the top-200 in nine-cat per-game value over the past two weeks. He’ll look to build on Sunday’s showing in Week 8, with the Hornets playing on Friday and Sunday.

Miller had a rough night inside the arc, making just one of his nine two-point attempts. However, a respectable 40 percent mark from three boosted his point total, and he did finish with a complete stat line. The five assists were the most he’s recorded in a game since the season opener, when Miller dished out seven helpers against the Nets. Staying healthy has been an issue for him this season, so the extra time off due to the NBA Cup may benefit Miller. Charlotte plays games on Friday and Sunday during Week 8.

With the Hornets being down multiple point guards, most notably starter LaMelo Ball, Simpson made his first start of the season on Sunday. While he finished with a respectable stat line, the assist category was lacking. Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges spent more time on the ball, which helped them combine to dish out 13 assists. Charlotte does not play its first game of Week 8 until Friday, so there isn’t much need to add Simpson after his showing on Sunday.

The Hornets are without LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton for Sunday’s game, so Simpson has received the starting nod. While his season-long production has not made him worth the risk in fantasy leagues, the opportunity to start raises Simpson’s fantasy ceiling. The other four starters are unchanged, and Kalkbrenner’s playing time may increase with Moussa Diabaté unavailable.

Porter came out of the gate on fire, dropping 22 points in the first half on 9-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, to power the Nets to a commanding 62-44 advantage. The 27-year-old scoring machine has delievered first-round value for fantasy purposes as one of the most impactful all-around performers over the past week, averaging 34.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.7 blocks over three games during that span. The Nets are off until Friday when they face the Mavericks before closing out the week with a home tilt against the Bucks.

Claxton was a dominant presence in the paint in this one as he shot 55 percent from the floor while pulling down 11 rebounds and also dishing out double-digit assists. He also chipped in three blocks just for good measure. The 26-year-old big man has been exceptional of late, delivering third-round fantasy value over the past week, averaging 13.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 0.8 steals and two blocks over his last four games.

Sharpe provided a spark off the bench as Brooklyn raced out to a big lead early and was able to cruise to a relatively easy win. He knocked down all four of his shots from the floor to finish the first half with nine points off the bench. He finished with a solid all-around line as he also added a couple rebounds and assists in addition to a steal and a block. There are plenty of mouths to feed in Brooklyn, which limits his fantasy ceiling, but he’s averaged just over 16 minutes per-game this season. He would have some appeal in deeper fantasy leagues if he were able to get into the starting lineup.

It was only a two-game absence for Miller, but it was good to see him back on the floor since he has already missed so much time this season after missing most of last season. It wasn’t a spectacular first game back, but he was able to play 30 minutes in a blowout win over the Raptors. LaMelo Ball injured his ankle, and if he remains out, Miller should see a bump in usage in the coming weeks.

Salaün spent most of November in the G League but returned to the Hornets for the last three games. During that stretch, he has averaged 14.7 points and 3.0 three-pointers per game. It’s an incredible hot stretch for Salaün, which is great to see after many have already labeled the 20-year-old a bust. He’s worth keeping an eye on, even if he isn’t worth rostering in standard leagues at this point.

Against the Knicks on Wednesday, Hornets coach Charles Lee made the switch to bump Kalkbrenner to the bench and start Moussa Diabaté. That only lasted one game and was likely to have a better matchup against Karl-Anthony Towns. Kalkbrenner returned to the starting lineup for this game and played 26 minutes while Diabaté logged 16 minutes. Kalkbrenner should start most of Charlotte’s games for the rest of the season.

LaMelo just can’t seem to keep his ankles healthy. He dealt with a right ankle injury in November, and now it’s the left ankle that will keep him sidelined for at least the remainder of Friday’s showdown. Over his last five games, Wolf has averaged 12.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 three-pointers per game. It goes without saying that these are solid numbers for a rookie coming off the bench behind two young bigs in Nic Claxton and Noah Clowney. However, the lackluster defensive production makes Wolf difficult to trust this early in the season. While the recent run has been encouraging, he has not reached the point where he should be considered in most redraft leagues. That’s likely to change later this season, especially with the Nets dropping to 1-10 at home on Thursday.

With Terance Mann limited to 18 minutes after a two-game absence and the hard fall he took during the second half of Thursday’s game, there was more room for Williams to contribute despite coming off the bench. The former lottery pick finished with his second 20-point game of the season and first since October 24. However, while Thursday was good, Williams’ season-long fantasy value remains subpar. The only reason to consider adding him ahead of Sunday’s game against the Pelicans would be if Mann and Michael Porter Jr. can’t play.

While his season-long fantasy value remains relatively low, now would be a good time to hop onto the Clowney bandwagon if he’s sitting on your league’s waiver wire. Over the past two weeks, the Nets forward/center has provided fourth-round value in eight-cat formats, and he’s scored at least 16 points in seven of his last eight games. There must be something about the Knicks that doesn’t agree with Knueppel, as he has struggled from three in both meetings. After missing all seven of his attempts in a November 26 loss to New York, he made one of his six attempts on Wednesday. Fantasy managers did receive solid value in the rebound and assist categories, but the rookie’s field-goal percentage took a hit. Wolf may have a knack for dunking on people. Two nights removed from putting Milwaukee’s Kyle Kuzma on a poster as part of a 22-point night, the rookie did the same to Charlotte’s Miles Bridges. After recording three 30-point games last season with the Nuggets, Porter dropped his sixth of his first season with the Nets on Monday. This was the first time Saraf has suited up since Nov. 11, he injured his ankle during a G League game earlier this month, and this was the first time since then that he checked in for Brooklyn. He logged 29 minutes in the ugly loss and was one of the more productive players for the Nets. The lopsided score certainly altered the rotation, but Saraf could earn more minutes after leading the team in assists.
