Already without Darius Garland (toe), the Cavaliers will not have Donovan Mitchell (hamstring) or Jarrett Allen (finger) for Friday’s game. They’ll be replaced in the lineup by Ball, who’s already rostered in 13 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and Wade. Both players are worth considering in deep leagues, with Ball being the priority addition. Also worth a look is Craig Porter Jr., as Ball won’t be asked to take on a starter’s workload.

Garland, who underwent toe surgery in the offseason, has yet to appear in a game this season. However, he did recently scrimmage with the Cavaliers’ G League affiliate and is “close” to a return. That’s great news for Cleveland, as Donovan Mitchell is dealing with a hamstring injury and will not play in Friday’s game against the Raptors. Garland still does not have an exact return date, but it’s on the horizon based on Atkinson’s pregame comments.

Allen, who suffered a non-displaced fracture of his left ring finger during Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics, will miss at least one game. Also, only having one big on the floor to start may raise Evan Mobley’s fantasy ceiling.

Livingston, the 58th overall pick in the 2023 draft, spent two seasons with the Bucks before being waived late in the preseason. While there’s the potential for him to earn a few minutes if Jarrett Allen (finger) misses time, Livingston is unlikely to be in the rotation. There’s no need to consider adding him in any fantasy league.

Merrill will miss a second straight game with a right hip contusion. Jaylon Tyson started Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics and had his best game of the season, scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Allen was limited to 25 minutes on Wednesday, and the finger injury was a factor. There will be growing pains with the Nets using three of their five first-round picks in June’s draft on lead guards (Ben Saraf, Egor Dëmin and Nolan Traoré). However, that also means some of the team’s more experienced players may have opportunities to make plays for others. Mann fits the mold, and his six assists on Wednesday were the second-most a Nets player has recorded in a game this season (Cam Thomas had nine against Cleveland on October 24). Mann isn’t at the point where he’s a must-add player, but he’s worth watching due to the Nets’ young roster.

Claxton recorded his first double-double of the season on Wednesday, and rebounding has been a struggle for the 6-foot-11 center. He’s averaging 6.6 boards per game through five appearances, but that number is boosted by Wednesday’s effort and a nine-rebound performance against the Cavaliers on October 24. In his other three games, Claxton grabbed five rebounds or fewer. Claxton is a player that fantasy managers draft with the expectation that they’ll have to punt free-throw percentage, not rebounds.

While Thomas is averaging 23.3 points per game this season, his field-goal percentage has significantly damaged his fantasy value. He’s shooting 39.5 percent from the field, which would be the lowest of his five-year career. Thomas is going to get his numbers, and the fantasy value should improve over the course of the season. However, inefficiency was a concern, especially on a team that’s limited regarding playmakers who can set up their teammates. Thomas will look to clean some things up when Brooklyn hosts the 76ers on Sunday.

Porter notched his second 30-point game of the season on Wednesday, one shy of his tally for the 2024-25 campaign. While he’s no longer in a situation where contending for a title is the expectation, moving from Denver to Brooklyn has raised Porter’s offensive ceiling. Porter has been close to a top-50 fantasy player thus far, with limited defensive production and a 70 percent mark at the foul line weighing down his value.

Tyson entered Wednesday averaging 5.3 points per game, scoring no more than nine points in his previous four appearances. However, with Sam Merrill (hip) unavailable, the second-year wing had his best night of the season. Tyson was efficient offensively and finished a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. One game does not make Tyson a player to grab off the waiver wire, but that could change if Merrill misses more time.

Mobley finished Wednesday’s loss with a complete stat line, but he and sidekick Jarrett Allen (16/6/1/1/1) were outplayed by the Celtics’ tandem of Neemias Queta and Josh Minott. However, while that was disappointing, it doesn’t matter much to fantasy managers. Through five games, Mobley has provided third-round value in nine-cat formats, not too far from his Yahoo! ADP of 19.

While Hunter finished with a solid point total, the field goal percentage was lacking due to a 3-of-12 night from beyond the arc. He and many other Cavaliers may have been too willing to settle for triples, as they shot 17-of-52 on the night. Boston is also a high-volume three-point shooting team, but they made 21 three-pointers and outscored Cleveland at the foul line (20-18). Hunter has ample opportunities to produce since he’s in the starting lineup, and that’s unlikely to change until Max Strus (ankle) returns to action.

However, head coach Kenny Atkinson said during his pregame availability that he plans to go deep into his bench, potentially a sign that Mitchell won’t take on his usual workload. Mitchell is a late addition to the injury report for Wednesday’s game, which generally does not bode well for a player’s availability. There weren’t many bright spots in this game for Brooklyn, but Sharpe was able to record his first double-double of the season off the bench. He played 22 minutes to Noah Clowney’s 16 and was significantly more productive. He’s worth stashing in dynasty leagues and could be really productive in March and April.

Unsurprisingly, Porter has been featured heavily on offense to start the season. However, that has only led to one big scoring night, and it wasn’t on Monday. This was an efficient night for MPJ, but he set a season-low for shot attempts. MPJ was drafted in the sixth round of Yahoo! leagues with the idea that he would be a high-volume scorer for the Nets to start the year. He’ll need to shoot more against the Hawks on Wednesday to bounce back.

Mann has been starting for the Nets, but he hadn’t been contributing much on the offensive end. However, he popped out of nowhere to lead them in scoring in this one. Mobley has been filling up the stat sheet this season. He hasn’t been able to shoot the ball efficiently, but he made at least 50 percent of his shot attempts for the first time this season in Monday’s win. He was also able to record his first double-double of the season, and he has hit at least one triple in every game this year. After missing the first two games due to a knee injury suffered during the preseason, Hunter made his season debut against the Bucks as part of the starting lineup. He did not provide any defensive stats, and the assists were limited, which is why Hunter is not a popular option for fantasy managers despite being a starter. Hunter is only worth a look in deep leagues, so that rostered percentage should not change much following Sunday’s performance.

Mobley has been consistent on the glass thus far, grabbing eight rebounds in his first three games. However, the scoring output has fluctuated, with the Cavaliers’ center/forward’s 13-point effort against the Nets sandwiched between solid performances against the Knicks and Bucks. Allen has gotten off to a slow start offensively, at least against the teams with postseason ambitions. While he did score 22 points in Friday’s win over the Nets, the Cavaliers’ starting center totaled 12 in games against the Knicks and Bucks. Claxton shot the ball well on Sunday, but he had to deal with foul trouble. Taking on San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is never easy, but the good news for Claxton is that he’ll only see the phenom once more this season. After a disappointing 2024-25 season, the Nets center is ranked just outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats through three games. The biggest surprise is that Claxton has yet to block a shot after averaging at least one per game in his previous five seasons.

Having shot nearly 49 percent from the field in his first two games as a Net, Porter cooled down on Sunday. However, he provided solid value in rebounds, assists and steals, playing 37 minutes. While the move east means Porter won’t be on a team considered a title contender, it raised his fantasy ceiling. MPJ isn’t a “sell high” player after three games, but that’s something for fantasy managers to track, especially if they’re concerned that the Nets could look to prioritize their rookies even more later this season.

One game removed from fracturing his nose after landing face-first during a loss to the Cavaliers, Thomas suffered another facial injury on Sunday. The Nets guard finished with his first 40-point game since November 15, 2024, shooting 44 percent from the field and 100 percent from the foul line. Thomas wasn’t much of a factor in the Nets’ loss to the Hornets on Wednesday with 15 points on 2-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes.
