Ball exited Friday’s win over the Raptors with a bone bruise in his left ankle. Due to his previous ankle injuries, this is a concern for the point guard and the Hornets. Quickley has yet to miss a game this season, but there’s a chance that could change on Sunday. If he’s unable to play, the Raptors will most likely turn to Jamal Shead to fill the void. Ingram’s worst game of the season represented Toronto’s struggles in this game. He scored less than 10 points for the first time this season, and they’ve now lost four of their last five games, including twice to the Hornets. Ingram is in a slight shooting slump, which can help explain the lack of recent team success. He’ll look to get back on track against the Celtics on Sunday.

Ja’Kobe Walter has been starting in place of RJ Barrett (knee), but Shead replaced him to start the second half against Charlotte. That wasn’t enough to get a win, but the Raptors outscored the Hornets by three points during Shead’s time on the floor, which is impressive in a 25-point loss. It’s unclear if Shead will remain a starter against the Celtics on Sunday, but he will hold streaming appeal if he does.

Quickley was the lone bright spot in an ugly loss for Toronto. He accounted for over one-third of the Raptors’ points in this game, which marked a new season high for him. It was a wasted performance for him, and Toronto has now dropped four of their last five games since their nine-game win streak ended. Quickley will look to stay hot against the Celtics on Sunday.

It was only a two-game absence for Miller, but it was good to see him back on the floor since he has already missed so much time this season after missing most of last season. It wasn’t a spectacular first game back, but he was able to play 30 minutes in a blowout win over the Raptors. LaMelo Ball injured his ankle, and if he remains out, Miller should see a bump in usage in the coming weeks.

Salaün spent most of November in the G League but returned to the Hornets for the last three games. During that stretch, he has averaged 14.7 points and 3.0 three-pointers per game. It’s an incredible hot stretch for Salaün, which is great to see after many have already labeled the 20-year-old a bust. He’s worth keeping an eye on, even if he isn’t worth rostering in standard leagues at this point.

Against the Knicks on Wednesday, Hornets coach Charles Lee made the switch to bump Kalkbrenner to the bench and start Moussa Diabaté. That only lasted one game and was likely to have a better matchup against Karl-Anthony Towns. Kalkbrenner returned to the starting lineup for this game and played 26 minutes while Diabaté logged 16 minutes. Kalkbrenner should start most of Charlotte’s games for the rest of the season.

LaMelo just can’t seem to keep his ankles healthy. He dealt with a right ankle injury in November, and now it’s the left ankle that will keep him sidelined for at least the remainder of Friday’s showdown. Hopefully it won’t keep him sidelined long, but both KJ Simpson and Sion James should be in line for more minutes with Ball unavailable. There should be an additional update on his status at some point this weekend.

While Walter entered Thursday having started four of Toronto’s previous five games due to RJ Barrett’s knee injury, he hadn’t taken advantage of the opportunity. The one double-digit scoring effort in that run occurred in the game that the second-year guard did not start, and he averaged 6.6 points on 36.4 percent shooting. There were no such issues for Walter against the Lakers, as he tallied a season-high point total. One game doesn’t make Walter trustworthy in most fantasy leagues, but Thursday was a step in the right direction.

Ingram had a difficult night from beyond the arc, missing all five of his three-point attempts in the 123-120 defeat. However, he shot well over 50 percent from two, preserving the overall field-goal percentage, and the rebounds and assists were also helpful to fantasy managers. With Ingram not providing consistently good value in the defensive categories or assists, his margin for error is relatively slim when discussing fantasy value. As a result, he’s slipped outside the top-75 in eight-cat formats after a promising start to the season.

Barnes and the Raptors didn’t get the victory on Thursday, but he provided fantasy managers with another exquisite stat line. The forward/guard finished one assist shy of his first triple-double of the season, and he did so on excellent percentages. Moussa Diabaté was the starting center in that contest, and he could retain the role on Friday, even if Kalkbrenner is available. Kalkbrenner did not start Wednesday’s game, with Moussa Diabaté (two points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal in 20 minutes) replacing him in the starting lineup. While the rookie still played more minutes, logging 25, his night ended prematurely due to a sprained left ankle. As a result, another start could be in the cards for Diabaté. There must be something about the Knicks that doesn’t agree with Knueppel, as he has struggled from three in both meetings. After missing all seven of his attempts in a November 26 loss to New York, he made one of his six attempts on Wednesday. Fantasy managers did receive solid value in the rebound and assist categories, but the rookie’s field-goal percentage took a hit. Ball got going offensively after halftime, hitting four of his five three-pointers. The final stat line was excellent for those who have him rostered, but the questions about the Hornets’ guard’s ability to impact winning will persist. Thursday’s game is the first of two in as many nights for the Raptors, who host the Hornets on Friday. Poeltl’s absence opens up a spot in the starting lineup, and this may be a spot where Sandro Mamukelashvili or Collin Murray-Boyles starts. Poeltl was back in the lineup after missing Sunday’s loss to the Knicks, pushing Jamison Battle (DNP-CD) to the bench. His return also impacted Sandro Mamukelashvili (6/7/2/0/1), who was limited to 19 minutes off the bench. Poeltl played 26 minutes, which aligns with his average for the season. While he did surpass 30 minutes in the two games before Sunday’s night off, Poeltl’s playing time will likely hover in the mid-to-high 20s range. Barnes, who was named Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month earlier on Tuesday, blocked two more shots against the Trail Blazers. And his defensive production is one reason why the Raptors forward ranks among the best players in fantasy basketball this season. Quickley started Tuesday’s game hot, hitting his first five three-point attempts in what would be one of his best outings of the season. Not only did Quickley record a season-high assist total, but he notched his second double-double on Saturday. His fantasy value has consistently hovered within the top-75 in eight- and nine-cat formats thus far, with a lower-than-expected free-throw percentage being the issue. A career 85.3 percent shooter from the charity stripe, Quickley is making 74.5 percent of his attempts this season.
