George once again led the Jazz in scoring, but the third-year guard didn’t have much help offensively. Lauri Markkanen (12/2/2/3) shot 4-of-14 from the field, while Jusuf Nurkić and Svi Mykhailiuk combined to score nine points. George was still efficient offensively playing alongside Isaiah Collier, but the defense suffered as no one could slow down Anthony Edwards. The Jazz don’t play again during Week 3 but will have four games during Week 4.

While Collier was made active for Utah’s first two games of the week, he did not see action in either. Not only did he play against the Timberwolves on Friday, but the 2024 first-round pick was in the starting lineup alongside Keyonte George. It wasn’t solely the guards’ fault, but the Jazz were torched, giving up 137 points. As expected, Walter Clayton Jr. (4/3/2/0/1) was the big loser from a playing time standpoint, as he only logged 12 minutes off the bench.

Charlotte’s centers combined to block seven shots on Friday. Starter Ryan Kalkbrenner (10 points, five rebounds) was responsible for four blocks while Diabaté contributed three, along with his third double-double of the season. Despite coming off the bench, Diabaté has provided solid late-round value in 12-team formats, which is why he’s rostered in 13 percent of Yahoo! leagues. He’s worth holding onto in deep leagues.

Knueppel’s field goal percentage wasn’t great, but that is not a big deal given the overall production. The rookie notched his first 30-point game and a complete stat line, putting up 23 shots on a night when the Hornets were without LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton. Even when those two return, Knueppel will be in the starting lineup, and he should probably be rostered in a higher percentage of fantasy leagues. He’s currently rostered in 28 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

With LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton unavailable due to injury, Mann made his first start since April 14, 2024. The former first-round pick took advantage of his opportunity, even if the field-goal percentage was low. Mann recorded his first 20-point game of the season and provided good value in the rebound and assist categories. Charlotte won’t play again during Week 3, but Mann would have streaming value if Ball and Sexton miss Monday’s game against the Lakers.

The sixth-year guard was off to another strong start, averaging 23.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists through his first six appearances of the season. Markkanen continues to score a decent amount of points despite struggling with his three-point shot this year. The 28-year-old power forward has shot above 36.4 percent from behind the three-point line in two of eight games so far this year. In one of those games, Markkanen managed to drop 51 points in an overtime victory over the Suns. Kessler is set to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. This is a massive blow for the Jazz, who have started the season out better than expected, but it’s also unfortunate for Kessler since he didn’t get an extension this summer. On the heels of a 29-point performance over the weekend in a blowout win over Utah without LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Brandon Miller (shoulder), Bridges reached the 20-point plateau once again in this one. He had a chance to give the Hornets the lead in the closing seconds, but his fadeaway three-pointer came up short. He did most of his damage in the first half of this one when he drained three of five three-point attempts to notch a game-high 16 points at the break. George has been excellent to start this season, and that continued against Boston as he set a new season-high for scoring. He wasn’t able to dish out as many assists as he has in every other game this season, but he made up for it with a season-low for turnovers and his best field goal percentage of the season. In his first game against his former team, Sexton had a productive Sunday evening. The veteran guard didn’t shoot the ball all that well, but still cracked double figures in scoring while also registering double-digit assists along the way. Knueppel bounced back from consecutive five-point performances to log a career-high in points and record his second game of at least 20 points this season. As was the case in his previous season-high, three-point shooting was a major factor — the rookie guard was electric from beyond the arc and led his team in that specific category. Knueppel also made an impact as a facilitator, giving him his most balanced offensive performance yet. He’ll have a chance to build off of Sunday’s momentum on Tuesday against the Pelicans.

On the second night of a back-to-back, Bridges nearly equalled the 30 points he recorded against the Timberwolves on Saturday. His shooting was much less efficient on Sunday, but he still made his way to the charity stripe frequently to help land his scoring production. Bridges also made contributions as a facilitator and added multiple makes from beyond the arc. Overall, his performance against the Jazz was enough to stop the Hornets’ three-game losing streak and put them in the win column for only the third time this season.

Hendricks got his first start of the season and ended up being one of Utah’s most productive players. The third-year forward was one of three Jazz players to score in double figures on Sunday, and he was the only starter to shoot at least 50.0 percent from the field. Hendricks also attacked the offensive glass hard in his 25 minutes and made contributions from beyond the arc. He performed well in his first start and could be a name to highlight and remember for later in the fantasy season.

George’s hot start to the season continued on Sunday, as he scored at least 25 points for the third time this season and notched at least seven assists for the sixth time. The third-year guard also logged one of his more efficient shooting performances of the season, despite remaining cold from beyond the arc. The three-point shot continues to be one of the few negatives on the season for George, but if he can even land the mediocre efficiency that he produced over the first two seasons of his career, he’ll become even more valuable in fantasy leagues.

Markannen’s four-game streak of at least 30 points came to an end on Sunday, with inefficient shooting from deep and low volume from the free-throw line being some of the biggest factors. Sunday’s outing also marked his lowest field goal percentage of the young season. Still, the veteran forward logged a team-high in points and was one of two players to record more than 20 points. He’s off to a tremendous start to the season and is showing that his lower production last season may be more of an anomaly than anything else.

Neither player’s production has jumped off the page from a fantasy basketball standpoint yet this season, but with starters’ minutes, they could be interesting streaming options as the Jazz look to snap a two-game losing streak. Making his first official appearance for the Jazz, Anderson logged 25 minutes. Given Utah’s youth, that was surprising to say the least. Anderson’s playing time came at the expense of Kyle Filipowski (two points, two rebounds and one assist in 10 minutes), who played the first eight minutes and did not return until the outcome was no longer in doubt. The minutes split was an eye-opening development given Filipowski’s ceiling, especially when compared to Anderson’s. With Isaiah Collier (hamstring) having recently been cleared for full on-court participation, it’s only a matter of time until he’s recalled from the G League. He was active on the boards and dished out nine assists while committing three turnovers. Despite averaging four turnovers per game, George provides top-50 value in nine-cat formats. While Kessler did his usual work on the glass Friday night, his offensive production was underwhelming. He’s had two offensive duds, the first being a three-point effort against the Kings on October 24. The good news is that Kessler scored 18 or more in his other three outings, taking tangible steps forward on that end of the floor. Is Kessler going through a Brook Lopez-like transformation right before our eyes? Probably not, but the increased confidence in his perimeter shot has been great to see. On Wednesday, Kessler shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and is 6-of-8 on the season. In 2024-25, he shot 6-of-34 from deep and entered this season 11-of-56. Add in the points, rebounds, defensive stats and improved assists, and Kessler has been a top-15 player in nine-cat formats thus far. Will he remain there? Who knows. Based on his hot start, fantasy managers who decided to pass on Markkanen in drafts due to late-season tanking concerns may regret their choices. He’s scored 30 points or more in three straight games, a feat he did not accomplish during the 2024-25 season. Wednesday’s final stat line was robust, with the 32 points being supplemented by five rebounds and six “stocks.” Through four games, Markkanen is providing top-10 fantasy value, which may prompt some managers to entertain the possibility of selling high.
