Having recently dealt with a groin injury, Williams was not a lock to be available Wednesday night. However, he’s absent from the injury report, so the wing will be in the rotation. Williams should get most of his minutes backing up Matas Buzelis, putting him in a difficult spot regarding fantasy relevance. Williams is a watch-list candidate in deep leagues early in the season.

Dosunmu and Okoro were dealing with nagging injuries toward the end of the preseason, but both have been given a clean bill of health for Wednesday’s opener. While the former offers a higher fantasy ceiling, the latter may be part of the starting lineup due to his defensive ability. If Okoro starts, expect to see him spend most of his time guarding Cade Cunningham.

It’s unclear if these injuries will actually keep either player from being available for the regular season opener on Wednesday against Detroit. Neither is expected to start, but their potential absences could open up minutes for Kevin Huerter, Dalen Terry and rookie Noa Essengue.

Braun has seen his minutes and production rise since being selected No. 21 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. He won a championship with the Nuggets as a rookie, and he’s steadily become an integral part of the team’s core rotation. Fantasy managers will hope he continues to ascend in Year 4. He finished as a late fifth rounder in per-game fantasy hoops value in 2024-25.

Saturday’s update hinted at White being available for the season opener, but Monday’s update confirms that White will miss that contest and at least several more. Until White is ready to return, Tre Jones should see the biggest fantasy boost, with Kevin Huerter potentially soaking up some additional minutes. Jones is the preferred add.

White strained his calf in August, and the hope was that he could return in time for the Bulls’ preseason finale. He was unable to, but the guard did take some contact during a controlled scrimmage on Saturday. The plan is for White to get in more contact work on Monday and Tuesday, and he’s on track to be available for Wednesday’s opener. Given the time missed, fantasy managers should plan for White to be under a restriction of some kind. Tre Jones started Thursday’s preseason finale and would retain that role if the Bulls decide to bring White off the bench.

Watson had at least nine points for the fourth time in five games this preseason. The 23-year-old guard started Friday as the Nuggets rested their usual starting lineup. Watson still seems ticketed for a significant bench role this year based on his usage throughout the preseason. It’ll likely still take an injury to someone ahead of him on the depth chart for him to have much fantasy value this year.

Hardaway Jr. started and played 22 minutes, but when the Nuggets have all their starters playing he’s going to come off the bench. Still, the 33-year-old shooting guard showed he still has something left in the tank with the Pistons last year. Playing with Nikola Jokic always helps and there will be opportunities for Hardaway Jr. with the Nuggets this year. He can certainly provide some scoring and threes for fantasy managers in a pinch.

While Oklahoma City’s starting lineup for Friday’s game likely aligns with the group that will be on the floor for its regular-season opener, that is not the case for the Nuggets. Johnson is the only player in Friday’s lineup who’s expected to be in the starting five when the regular season begins, with the other four being part of the bench rotation. He’s still getting acclimated to his new teammates, which may be why Johnson will play on Friday.

Initially on a two-way deal with the Clippers, Flowers was waived on October 14. He has since cleared waivers and will reportedly join the Bulls on a two-way contract. Given Chicago’s depth on the wings, Flowers is unlikely to be in a position where he can impact fantasy basketball this season. There’s no need to select him in drafts.

The Bulls signed and waived McClung on Friday, and the team holds his G League rights. If the three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion remains with the Windy City Bulls for 60 days, he’ll receive an $85,300 bonus.

The three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion has most recently been part of the Magic organization, plying his trade for the team’s G League affiliate. Friday’s reported transaction is interesting because the Bulls have filled all 15 of their standard contract and all three two-way contract slots. They would have to waive someone if McClung is on a standard deal. And if the plan is to send him to the G League, the Windy City Bulls will have to acquire McClung’s rights from the Osceola Magic. Either way, this transaction does not impact fantasy basketball.

After a slow first preseason game, Giddey got back on track and put together a nice four-game stretch to give himself some momentum heading into the regular season. In Thursday’s finale, he reached double figures as a scorer and dished out a preseason-high in assists in the process. Giddey, in his second year as the Bulls’ starting point guard, should be able to pick up where he left off in his first season. He remains a triple-double threat and could be a nice early-round target in fantasy drafts.

Smith was one of seven Bulls players to score in double figures on Thursday. His 24 minutes marked the most of the preseason, which allowed him the opportunity to get up the necessary shot attempts to score in double figures for the first time all preseason. The fifth-year forward was equally as impressive on the defensive end, where he erased several Timberwolves shots at the rim. He’ll likely return to a reserve role when the team is at full strength.

The sophomore forward logged another impressive preseason outing on Thursday. He came up just a point short of his 20-point outing against the Nuggets on Tuesday and has now registered double-digit points in each of the five preseason games. He shot the ball well during his rookie season and closed the season strong on the offensive end after the All-Star Break. Buzelis could be in line for a nice second-year jump.

The Bulls have made multiple changes to the lineup that started Tuesday’s loss to the Nuggets, with Jones and Smith replacing Ayo Dosunmu and Isaac Okoro. Chicago is still awaiting the return of Coby White, who has not played at all during the preseason due to a calf injury. If he’s unable to play in the Bulls’ season opener against Detroit on October 22, it’s conceivable that Jones or Dosunmu fills the resulting void in the starting lineup.

Okoro is dealing with a sore knee and will not play in Chicago’s preseason finale. The knee first became an issue during Tuesday’s loss to the Nuggets, with the Bulls holding Okoro out for the entirety of the second half. Hopefully, he’s healthy enough to contribute when Chicago opens the regular season on October 22 against the Pistons. That said, while Okoro can be an effective defender, he does not offer enough offensive value to impact fantasy basketball.

Murray was certainly in mid-season form in this win. After scoring a total of 36 points through their first three preseason games, he nearly matched that total against Chicago. Murray is being drafted in the fourth round in Yahoo! leagues, and he’ll be worth the selection if he is able to stay healthy, like he did last season.

Giddey’s first preseason outing was a dud, but since then, he has reminded us why he’s going in the third round in Yahoo! drafts. This game in particular is what fantasy managers are hoping to get from him often this season. If this level of well-rounded production is something Giddey is capable of providing consistently, he’ll be worth the early selection.

Giddey stuffed the stat sheet with points, rebounds and assists in this one, tacking on a useful block and three-pointer in the process. The nightly triple-double threat should be a valuable option for fantasy managers in 2025-26, and his ADP has taken him as high as the third round in some drafts given his massive upside.

Throughout the offseason, there were reports of a potential partnership between the Kings and Westbrook, who has been a free agent since opting out of the final year of his deal with the Nuggets. It was also reported that, with the signing of Dennis Schröder, the Kings would need to move a guard to make room for Westbrook. Malik Monk and Devin Carter, whose names were mentioned in trade rumors to make that happen, remain on the Kings’ roster. Would that remain the case if the team were to sign Westbrook now? Or will the most recent rumblings be a way to drum up interest in either of those players? Westbrook hasn’t been a consistently impactful fantasy option in recent years, so he is not a player managers should look to draft and stash in anticipation of a potential move to Sacramento.

For a second consecutive preseason game, Dosunmu came off the bench and logged a productive offensive outing. In Thursday’s win, he led all Bulls players in field goal attempts and points in his 22 minutes, despite shooting 25.0 percent from beyond the arc. Giddey was much more aggressive in Thursday’s contest against the Cavaliers than in Tuesday’s. He got up more shots than any other Bulls starter, and although he didn’t shoot efficiently, he finished as one of the team’s top scorers on the evening in 22 minutes of game action. Coming off a strong finish to his rookie season, Buzelis was productive in his first preseason game of year two. Coby White (calf) isn’t playing, so it’s unclear if Huerter or Okoro will end up as the fifth starter for Chicago this season. Huerter has more upside in fantasy basketball, but Okoro is the superior defender, which is much needed in this lineup. The hope is that White is available to play by the end of the preseason, so Huerter and Okoro could view the next few preseason games as a tryout for the final starting spot.

While he did shoot the ball well on Monday, Jokić was uncharacteristically sloppy regarding “ball control.” He committed six turnovers on the night, a number he met or exceeded eight times last season. Given how productive the three-time MVP is, fantasy managers have little to worry about regarding Jokić. Of the eight games in which he recorded six turnovers in 2024-25, the Joker was responsible for five double-doubles and three triple-doubles. More concerning for Nuggets head coach David Adelman was that his team combined to commit 31 turnovers on Monday; Jokić will be fine.

After none of the Nuggets starters played more than 19 minutes in Saturday’s preseason opener, with Murray logging 16, the first five began the third quarter of Monday’s victory on the court. Murray looked reasonably sharp against the Raptors, shooting 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. His fantasy value last season took a hit due to a slow start, but the Nuggets point guard shot the ball better after the All-Star break. The combination of Denver’s improved depth and the exit of Michael Porter Jr. may raise Murray’s fantasy ceiling, even if his role won’t change much.

After only attempting two shots from the field in Denver’s preseason opener on Saturday, Braun was far more active offensively in Vancouver. And he didn’t miss, making all eight of his shot attempts in the 112-108 victory. Braun was close to a top-50 player in nine-cat formats in his first season as a starter, exceeding his Yahoo! ADP by a significant margin. He’s undoubtedly capable of duplicating that production, but the Nuggets are deeper than they were a season ago. Fantasy managers will want to begin considering Braun in the latter stages of the sixth round in 12-team category leagues.
