Middleton sat the first leg of this back-to-back, but he will be back to take on Denver. His return should push Bub Carrington back to the bench after he nearly recorded a double-double as a starter in Friday’s loss.

Carrington returned to the starting lineup for this game with Bilal Coulibaly (back) and Khris Middleton (knee) sidelined. He was able to bounce back after struggling in Wednesday’s loss where he shot 1-of-11. In this game, he was efficient as a shooter and nearly recorded his first double-double of the season. Carrington likely won’t remain in that role consistently, but he was able to have a productive night in an increased role. He could start again in Denver on Saturday, assuming Coulibaly and Middleton weren’t both just resting on the first night of a back-to-back.

Sarr had a big first half for Washington and entered the break with 18 points. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to contribute much after halftime. Sarr has had a strong second season, and the first half was indicative of that. He didn’t do much else in the box score, but that hasn’t been the case for more of the year. He’ll look to bounce back in Denver on Saturday, which should be a favorable matchup with Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas still sidelined.

Gordon doesn’t appear to be in serious jeopardy of missing Saturday’s game against the Wizards. The 30-year-old power forward is listed as probable with a hamstring injury. With Nikola Jokic and Christian Braun sidelined, the Nuggets will need Gordon in this one.

Coulibaly played the first ten minutes of Wednesday’s loss to the Clippers before leaving with lower back tightness. Already ruled out for Friday’s game against the Kings, he has traveled back to Washington to begin treatment. With Coulibaly out for the final game of the road trip, rookie Will Riley should see extended minutes in both games of the back-to-back. While not a must-stream player, Riley is worth watching with an eye toward the “silly season.”

After missing 23 games with a Grade 2 left ankle sprain, Braun played three games before heading back to the sidelines. He’s missed the last three games, and it’s likely going to be a little while before he’s back on the court. During Friday’s practice, Braun was limited to non-contact work. Following the session, Nuggets head coach David Adelman said the team will be patient with Braun’s return. The absence of Braun and Cameron Johnson (knee) is all the more reason to add Peyton Watson if he’s available.

Due to a sore left knee, Vukčević will not be available for Friday’s game. His absence does not affect fantasy basketball, as Alex Sarr and Marvin Bagley III will be available. Sarr was ejected during the second quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Clippers, resulting in more minutes for Bagley, while Vukčević only played eight minutes.

On the heels of one of his most productive games of the season, Middleton won’t take the floor for Friday’s contest. The veteran guard has played a less significant role in his first full season as a Wizard, and his absence shouldn’t make too much of a difference from a fantasy basketball standpoint. He’s averaging 9.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

Bagley saw extended minutes on Wednesday after Alex Sarr was ejected in the second quarter against the Clippers. Bagley took advantage, using efficient shooting to record his best scoring game of January and attacking the glass hard for his first double-double since December 14. Bagley has shown on multiple occasions this season that he can put up big numbers in the right amount of playing time. But in his reserve role, he’s unlikely to sustain enough consistent production to become a reliable option in fantasy leagues.

Middleton logged one of his more productive games of the season on Wednesday, utilizing the three-point shot to pave the way for his success on offense. The veteran forward also led all Wizards starters in assists in his 27 minutes of game action. Middleton is having one of the least productive seasons of his career as he plays the veteran role for a Wizards team trying to develop young talent. He’s not someone fantasy managers should consider rostering at this time.

George led all Washington players in scoring on Wednesday, getting the job done both inside and outside the paint. He made some plays with his athleticism and showed off his well-roundedness as a facilitator along the way. George has played well throughout his sophomore season — his consistency leaves optimism for even greater ceilings as a fantasy basketball player. He’ll look to land even more production on Friday against the Kings.

Watson followed up his 31-point outburst on Tuesday with another strong scoring performance on the second game of a back-to-back. The versatile forward was limited to only 30 minutes on the evening, but still produced enough on the offensive end to finish as the Nuggets’ third-leading scorer. His pair of three-pointers on efficient shooting added to his fantasy basketball production, as well. Watson has enjoyed a nice stretch over the past few weeks and continues to have his best season as a professional.

Gordon provided fantasy managers with decent production on Wednesday, surpassing the 20-point mark on the evening while draining a trio of three-pointers. The veteran forward played only 29 minutes in the win but still finished as Denver’s second-leading scorer. Surely he is capable of greater performances, but Wednesday’s final line should serve as a nice floor on nights when the high production isn’t required.

On the second game of a back-to-back, Murray followed his 35-point performance with another 30-point outing. He shot efficiently overall from the floor before finishing with a game-high in points, and also stepped up as a facilitator to lead the Nuggets in assists. Murray has very quietly enjoyed a strong start to the calendar year, tallying at least 22 points and five assists in each of the five games he’s appeared in. He’s been a major reason why the Nuggets have remained successful in Nikola Jokic’s absence.

Just over a week after the Nuggets’ center had reportedly begun to do some spot shooting, he’s now progressed to on-court workouts. According to Charania, Jokić is still on track for a late-January return to action, if not slightly ahead of schedule. For Tuesday’s win over the Pelicans, Aaron Gordon served as the small-ball five, with Zeke Nnaji playing 22 minutes off the bench. Shallow-league managers can consider adding Gordon, since he’s played 30 minutes or more in consecutive games for the first time since returning from his hamstring injury.

Watson’s unreal hot stretch continued in this game. His 19-point game on Sunday ended a six-game streak of at least 20 points, but he followed that up with outing, which was one point shy of matching his season high for points. However, this outing was incredibly efficient, and he was able to contribute value across the board in category leagues. At 23 years old, Watson has vaulted his value in dynasty leagues over the past month and should be considered a must-roster player in redraft formats.

Murray started off hot after missing Denver’s last two games, scoring 11 points in the first quarter. He cooled off a bit in the second quarter, but he had a big second half with 22 points to deliver the win for the Nuggets. Gordon calmly knocked down a pair of free throws in the final five seconds to effectively ice the game and complete his seventh 20-point performance of the season through 17 games. The 30-year-old center has seen a ton of scoring opportunities for the injury-plagued Nuggets, who have been playing without Jamal Murray (ankle, illness) of late. He’s averaging 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists through four contests since returning earlier this month from injury. It’s no secret that Denver has been dealing with an avalanche of injury issues to their superstars and supporting cast this season. Somehow, they haven’t reached a tipping point yet, despite losing Jamal Murray (ankle, illness) earlier this week. Hardaway provided a spark off the bench in this one, knocking down 5-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc to notch his second 25-point effort in his last four games. He offers some appeal as a streaky scoring threat in deeper fantasy leagues.

Watson’s emergence as a viable fantasy contributor has been a welcome development on an injury-riddled Nuggets squad that is missing several key contributors. He’s worthy of a roster spot in all fantasy leagues based on his recent production.

With the Wizards trading CJ McCollum, Johnson will have every opportunity to show what he can do the rest of the way. He was efficient in Phoenix, sharing the team lead in points with Alex Sarr. One of the few positives to take from the Wizards’ blowout loss was Sarr’s play, with the second-year center recording another double-double. With it unknown when (or if) Trae Young will make his debut for the team, Sarr may not get many opportunities to establish in-game chemistry with the Wizards’ new point guard. However, as long as he isn’t shut down later in the season, Sarr should continue to offer excellent fantasy value.
