Hield moved into the Warriors’ starting lineup in the first round and the team became somewhat reliant on his scoring. With Stephen Curry (hamstring) out in Game 2, Hield started and played 29 minutes. The 32-year-old shooting guard led the Warriors in field goal attempts, though no one in a Golden State uniform was able to reach 20 points. The Warriors weren’t able to overcome a double-digit first half deficit. Despite the four made three-pointers, they’re going to need more from Hield as the series shifts to Golden State, especially if Curry remains out.

Butler couldn’t get it done without Stephen Curry (hamstring) on the road in Game 2. The Warriors fell behind by double-digits early and never recovered. Butler had 17 points on 13 shots, which wasn’t far off from the 20 points he had in Game 1. Still, the Warriors have to regroup as they head home for Games 3 and 4 and try to figure out a way to keep this series close until Curry can return to the court.

No surprise here as Curry was always a long shot to make it back for Game 2 after leaving Game 1 with hamstring injury. While there has been a report that the 37-year-old point guard is expected to miss a week, there is no firm timetable for his return. The Warriors will go big with their starting lineup for Game 2 with center Quinten Post entering the lineup in Curry’s absence.

Curry suffered a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring during Tuesday’s Warriors’ series-opening win over the Timberwolves. While ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that the guard is expected to miss at least one week, Curry refused to give a target date when asked about his injury on Thursday. “No,” Curry said, according to The Athletic. “This is new, and from all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process. It’s just the way the body works. You can’t accelerate more than the body is telling you. It’ll be one of those after a week, really re-evaluate it every day to understand when it’s safe just to even think about playing.” This is the first hamstring injury of Curry’s career, so he’s in uncharted territory. Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield will have added importance within the Warriors’ offense, and the latter has shot 14-of-19 from three in his last two games.

Shams notes that Curry has already been ruled out for Game 2 on Thursday, but the week timeline means he’ll miss Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday with a chance to return for Game 5 on Wednesday. This is the first muscle strain of Curry’s career, so how quickly he returns will depend on how he responds to rehab. Fortunately for Golden State, the team came away with a win on the road in Game 1, and two of the next three games will be at home, giving the Warriors a chance to stay alive while their superstar PG is out. Expect Buddy Hield to step into a much larger role on offense while Curry is sidelined. Hield has totaled 57 points across his last two games while stroking a blistering 14-of-18 shots from beyond the arc.

Kerr relayed that Curry was “crushed” after being forced from the game due to injury. While Kerr described Curry as day-to-day, he also mentioned that the 37-year-old point guard will undergo an MRI on Wednesday. More will be known about the severity of his injury at that time. With the Warriors taking Game 1 on the road Tuesday, Kerr added that it’s hard to imagine Curry being available for Game 2 on Thursday. With Game 3 Saturday at Golden State, Curry could have more time to recover from the injury.

Green is a great player who ultimately could make the Hall of Fame when he calls it a career, but at this point of his career, he’s typically not counted on to provide much offense. Green came up with a big playoff performance Tuesday in Game 1 that included 18 points and four made three-pointers. While Green can’t be counted on for scoring like that consistently, he might be needed for more points with Stephen Curry (hamstring) unlikely to be available for Game 2.

Butler expressed concern for Stephen Curry, who left Game 1 with a hamstring injury, in the postgame interview. The 25-year-old small forward noted that Curry is the Warriors’ best player, and it’s easier to win when he’s out there. Even so, Butler was able to lead the Warriors to victory in Game 1 against the Timberwolves. Playoff Jimmy was just two assists away from a triple-double. With Game 1 already in hand, the Warriors could opt to rest Curry for Game 2 and take their chances with Butler at the helm one more time.

Curry is said to be dealing with a left hamstring strain. He had 13 points, one rebound and one assist before heading to the locker room. The 37-year-old point guard grabbed at the back of his left thigh after collecting a rebound in the first half. It’s unclear how bad the injury is or what Curry’s availability might be over the course of the rest of the series at this time.

Payton II missed the Warriors win over the Rockets on Sunday as Golden State advanced in Game 7. Payton II is still listed as questionable after missing Game 7 against the Rockets on Sunday. However, he wasn’t at shootaround ahead of that game, so this is a good sign for his chances of playing. Jonathan Kuminga logged seven scoreless minutes in Game 7 and would likely be pushed back out of the rotation if Payton II is back.

Brooks crashed back to earth after scoring 24 points in Game 5, totaling 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting. He’s been more valuable to the Rockets as a defender and veteran presence, hence his low Yahoo! ADP of 139. At best, Brooks will likely remain a late-round pick in standard leagues, while managers in 10-team formats can afford to leave him alone in drafts next fall.

Outside of Game 2, Green’s first postseason experience was a disappointment. Remove that 38-point effort, and the Rockets guard totaled 47 points on 16-of-53 shooting in the other six games. Green has long been a better option for points leagues than category leagues, but he has been worthy of a top-100 pick. Whether that remains the case ahead of the 2025-26 season depends on what the Rockets’ front office does this offseason. There’s a clear need for consistent perimeter shooting, especially with two starters (Green and Fred VanVleet) who shot below 43 percent from the field during the regular season.

While VanVleet did cool off after an excellent two-game run to help force a Game 7, he remained solid on Sunday. The veteran point guard finished a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line and was third in scoring behind Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun. VanVleet has a team option for next season, and both sides have expressed interest in continuing the partnership. The question is what the final price tag will be. Despite his poor field goal percentage, VanVleet can be incredibly valuable as a fantasy asset.

Sengun finished Sunday’s defeat with his fifth double-double in seven games, grabbing nine rebounds in the two exceptions. Sengun’s efficiency in Game 7 wasn’t up to standard, but the Warriors did an excellent job of making him work for his looks after he shot 11-of-18 from the field in Game 1. Result aside, this was a promising first playoff series for Sengun. From a fantasy standpoint, he did not reach his Yahoo! ADP (27) in eight- or nine-cat formats this season. However, the skill set is such that Sengun will not slip outside the first 50 picks in fantasy drafts next fall.

A double-digit scorer in each of the final six games of the series, Thompson surpassed 20 points in Games 5 and 7. On Sunday, the second-year wing recorded a complete stat line while shooting over 50 percent from the field. While he does not offer much as a perimeter shooter, Thompson’s versatility, athleticism and defensive ability make him an attractive building block for the future. His fantasy value took off once he moved into the starting lineup, and Thompson should begin next season as a starter. After entering this season with a Yahoo! ADP of 116, a case can be made for Amen being a top-50 pick in three-point punt builds next fall.

Before Sunday’s Game 7, few likely expected Hield to be the Warriors’ leading scorer. After scoring 32 points in Games 3 and 4, he totaled four points on 2-of-10 shooting in the two losses that forced a decisive seventh game. To say Hield redeemed himself would be an understatement; he established a playoff career-high with nine three-pointers and shot 80 percent from the field. While the Warriors won’t expect performances of this caliber in the second round, they’ll need a consistent Hield to knock off the Timberwolves. Game 1 is on Tuesday.

Stephen Curry did not have to shoulder a hefty workload, as the veteran forward provided value on both ends of the floor in the Game 7 victory. For those who expected Curry to come out “guns blazing” in Sunday’s Game 7, they were surprised. Warriors coach Steve Kerr started Payton over Brandin Podziemski, with the veteran wing capable of helping out defensively and making the Rockets pay out of the dunker spot. Unfortunately, the change did not result in increased production from either player. Payton shot 40 percent from the field, while Podziemski (10/7/3/1 with two three-pointers) shot 4-of-9.
