Moody, who injured his left calf during the preseason, missed the first two regular-season games. His return gives the Warriors additional depth on the wings, possibly resulting in fewer minutes for Will Richard. The rookie played 17 minutes in Thursday’s win over the Nuggets. While Richard’s playing time won’t impact fantasy basketball, Moody’s return will, especially as his minutes increase.

On the second night of a back-to-back, Kuminga should be good to go. Through two games, he’s averaging 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 threes per game. He should continue to be a productive starter for Golden State.

Horford didn’t do much in his debut for the Warriors, but he was able to turn in a solid line in his second game for the team, which included a clutch triple in overtime to give the Warriors a lead. This was the first night of a back-to-back, so Horford won’t play against the Trail Blazers on Friday. That should open the door for Quinten Post to fill in the backup center minutes.

Butler was the standout of Tuesday’s win over the Lakers, and he was solid in this one to help the Warriors start the year 2-0. Butler missed one of his eight free throw attempts, so he’s now 23-of-24 this season. He’ll continue to provide well-rounded stats this season, and if he can stay healthy, his Yahoo! ADP of 50.3 is going to look like a steal. He’ll look to keep things going in Portland on Friday.

Curry got hot like only he can late in this game. He scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, which included a game-tying triple with 22 seconds left to force overtime, before adding seven more points in the extra period. His first outing of the season was fine, but this is the type of performance that we’ve seen so often from Curry that solidifies him as one of the all-time greats. He’ll look to stay hot in Portland on Friday on the second night of a back-to-back.

Harden didn’t exactly lift his team up in this one. While he didn’t play as poorly as Kawhi Leonard, The Beard had just 15 points on 12 shots and was 2-of-9 from behind the three-point line. The Clippers will just have to move past this embarrassing season opening loss to the Jazz and hope it’s not a harbinger for the rest of the season.

In one of the biggest upsets of Wednesday’s NBA action, the Clippers didn’t show up for the season opener in Utah. Leonard wasn’t without blame in this one. The 24-year-old forward had just 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting in 29 minutes. Kawhi was 1-of-5 from behind the three-point line, turned the ball over twice and was -25 in the 21-point loss to the Jazz. Given all the injuries in his past, fantasy managers shudder to think that this is one of the healthy games they’ll get from Leonard this year.

Horford not playing both games of a back-to-back is unsurprising, as that became the norm during his second stint with the Celtics. That will carry over to the Warriors, with the veteran center already ruled out for the second game of Golden State’s upcoming back-to-back. More playing time will be available to Quinten Post after he played nine minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Lakers, but that’s unlikely to impact fantasy basketball.

Moody did not play in the Warriors’ final three preseason games or Tuesday’s season-opening win over the Lakers, as he’s recovering from a left calf injury. While the Clippers brought in Bradley Beal and Chris Paul this offseason, Beal is the one who moves into the starting lineup for the season opener. After being under restrictions regarding his availability for back-to-backs in recent seasons, Horford was limited to 20 minutes on Tuesday. That factored into the Warriors’ decision to start Jonathan Kuminga, shifting Draymond Green (8/7/9/1/2 with one three-pointer) into the starting center role while Horford came off the bench. The approach worked against the Lakers, but fantasy managers invested in Horford aren’t in a great spot. One has to assume that his availability for back-to-backs will remain in doubt, but the playing time may be something that few bargained for. Horford averaged nearly 28 minutes per game last season; hopefully, he can get close to that as the 2025-26 campaign rolls on.

After scoring five points and making one three-pointer in the first half, Hield knocked down four triples in the third and fourth quarters to help the Warriors gain control of the season opener. He didn’t provide much value beyond points and three-pointers, but that’s the expectation for Hield, especially in his current role. Category league managers needing triples can consider rostering Buddy Buckets if he’s sitting on the waiver wire, but his fantasy ceiling is limited.

Following Jimmy Butler III’s addition to the Warriors’ roster in February, the prevailing thought was that he and Kuminga could not be on the court together very often due to spacing reasons. They looked comfortable in Tuesday’s season opener, especially with Kuminga shooting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. However, it’s fair to question if that is sustainable for a career 33.2 percent shooter. Last season, Kuminga made a career-low 30.5 percent of his three-point attempts, making multiple triples in 14 of his 47 regular-season appearances. Tuesday’s effort was encouraging, but more production is needed before buying into Kuminga as a perimeter shooter.

Due to a 2-of-10 night from beyond the arc, Curry’s field-goal percentage took a hit in Tuesday’s season opener. However, he frequently visited the foul line, which boosted the veteran guard’s point tally. Add in a complete stat line, including three steals, and there wasn’t much for fantasy managers to complain about regarding Curry’s performance. Last season, Curry only had five games in which he recorded at least three steals, so Tuesday’s effort should not be considered the norm.

Adding Butler to the Warriors’ roster just before the February trade deadline changed the equation offensively due to his ability to get to the foul line. The influence continued into Tuesday’s season opener, as the veteran forward attempted 16 free throws. The Warriors outscored the Lakers by a 26-17 margin at the foul line in a game they would win by 10 points. Butler finished the victory a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line, and the offensive efficiency was impressive. As long as Butler is consistently available, this could be a big season for him fantasy-wise.

Kuminga (ankle) and Butler (ankle) were initially probable for Tuesday’s season opener, so the starting lineup announcement means they’re good to go. The Warriors will go without a traditional center to begin Tuesday’s game, with Green moving to the five while Al Horford will come off the bench. If Kuminga can retain the starting role, his fantasy value should improve after a lackluster 2024-25 campaign.

The Curry brothers will have to wait a bit before they can share the court as teammates for the first time in their basketball careers, but it’s expected to happen at some point this season. ESPN’s Anthony Slater reports that the Warriors’ decision to waive Seth is solely because of the team’s need for salary cap flexibility. Golden State is right up against the second apron and doesn’t have the financial room to take a full 15-man roster into the regular season. However, that will change next month, when Curry is expected to rejoin the team. The Warriors will have 14 players on standard contracts when they open their season on Tuesday against the Lakers. Seth will provide additional three-point shooting off the bench once he rejoins the Warriors.

Curry logged 30 minutes in the Warriors’ final tune-up game before the regular season begins. In his time on the court, he was productive from beyond the arc, as usual, and made contributions as a facilitator along the way. Horford logged his highest-scoring game of the preseason on Friday, using accurate shooting to reach double digits in points for the first time. The veteran center’s late offseason signing gave him little runway to get acclimated with the team prior to the start of the regular season. Richard got the start for Golden State on Friday and logged a productive outing. He scored in double figures for the second straight game and used active hands against the Clippers to collect a season-high in steals. After two seasons with the Jazz, Collins joined a Clippers team that aims to contend for a championship this season. That alone preserves some of his fantasy value after spending two years with a franchise willing to tank to increase its draft lottery odds. However, Collins was used in a reserve role against Guangzhou, with Derrick Jones Jr. (six points, one rebound and two three-pointers in eight minutes) receiving the starting nod. There’s still a lot of basketball to be played during the preseason, so Collins is not locked into a reserve role. Along with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, the 7-footer did not play after halftime in Thursday’s blowout victory. Zubac’s fantasy outlook may not be as rosy as some believe it to be, based on his Yahoo! ADP. Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said earlier this preseason that Zubac played too much last season, and that was due to the team’s lack of reliable centers behind their starter. However, with Bradley Beal (knee) still working his way back from offseason surgery, Bogdanović will start at shooting guard. He had an injury scare during EuroBasket this summer. However, while Bogi was limited early in training camp, the limitations did not last long. Also of note is Jones receiving the starting nod at the four, with John Collins coming off the bench.
