Kuminga injured his knee and ankle on Thursday, which forced an early exit. He was reportedly set to undergo an MRI on Friday, but there hasn’t been any further reporting about a potential timetable. For now, he won’t be available against Minnesota, which should mean more minutes for Will Richard.

If Towns isn’t able to suit up, Mitchell Robinson would start in his place. Ariel Hukporti would also see a bump in minutes off the bench, though he wouldn’t be worth streaming. Towns’ absence would open up plenty of shots and minutes, and Robinson would receive a nice value boost as a starter.

Kuminga exited Thursday’s loss to the Mavericks during the first half after injuring his left knee on a drive to the basket. However, according to Stein, the injury also affected Kuminga’s left ankle. While his role was expanding due to Jimmy Butler’s season-ending knee injury, the Warriors were also continuing to explore trade possibilities. Thursday’s injury will significantly impact how the Warriors approach the trade deadline, especially if Kuminga is out for an extended period.

For those questioning whether they should grab Melton off the waiver wire, Thursday’s performance should be a convincing one. He needed 23 minutes off the bench to record a complete stat line, and he’s scored at least 23 points in three of his last five appearances. While Melton remains outside the top-150 in season-long value, that was influenced by the time he missed at the start of the season. With Jimmy Butler III (knee) done for the season, the reward outweighs the risk when it comes to adding Melton.

With Jimmy Butler III (knee) done for the season and Jonathan Kuminga (knee) leaving Thursday’s game during the first half, the Warriors needed even more production from Curry. The 27 shot attempts were one shy of his season-high, and the 38 points were the most he’s scored in a game since a December 28 loss to the Raptors. Depending on what happens with Kuminga, the Warriors may be forced to ask even more of their all-time great guard in the coming games.

Kuminga appeared to injure his left leg on a drive to the basket during the second quarter of Thursday’s game. While he remained in the contest after shooting his free throws, the Warriors’ forward was ruled out just before the start of the third quarter. After totaling 48 points in losses to the Warriors and Suns, McBride crashed back to earth on Monday with a five-point performance against the Mavericks. He got back on track Wednesday night, shooting 50 percent from the field and finishing a blocked shot shy of a complete line. With Jalen Brunson healthy, McBride’s fantasy upside is limited, but he can still be of value to deep-league managers.

Shamet was red-hot from beyond the arc on Wednesday, making all six of his attempts on the night. While his role doesn’t make him a viable option in most fantasy leagues, the Knicks’ reserve has averaged 2.3 three-pointers per game since returning from a shoulder injury. Shamet will only be worth a look on nights when the Knicks are shorthanded on the wings.

Wednesday went as well as it could have for Brunson and the Knicks, who entered their game with the Nets 2-9 in their last 11 games. The Knicks set a franchise record for margin of victory (54 points), and Brunson didn’t have to over-exert himself. Of course, fantasy managers would have hoped for a more competitive game, as the point guard may have logged more than 31 minutes. Saturday’s game against the 76ers stands to be far more competitive.

There weren’t many who believed Warriors head coach Steve Kerr when he said after Monday’s win over the Heat that he could turn to Kuminga if need be, with Jimmy Butler III (knee) done for the season. Well, Kuminga checked into Tuesday’s game at the start of the second quarter and provided excellent contributions in his 21 minutes. The Warriors forward scored 12 points in the third quarter alone, helping make the game somewhat competitive after Golden State fell behind by 29. With Kuminga get legitimate chances to contribute? Or will this be a “shop window” phase in which the team looks to boost his trade value ahead of the February 5 deadline? Regardless of the answer, Kuminga getting the chance to play is huge after being shelved for 16 straight.

After dropping a season-high 24 points in Monday’s win over the Heat, Podziemski was probably due to cool down. He moved into the starting lineup on Tuesday, and the overall stat line was modest. However, one mediocre performance as the fifth starter should not prompt fantasy managers to immediately drop Podziemski, especially if he holds onto that role. He’ll look to bounce back on Thursday against the Mavericks.

With Jimmy Butler III (knee) done for the season, it was “all hands on deck” for the Warriors on Tuesday. Hield, who has been in the rotation the last three games, recorded season-highs in points and three-pointers against the Raptors. The sharpshooter was a perfect 6-of-6 from beyond the arc, and while duplicating that feat in future games will be challenging, Hield can return to fantasy relevance. For deep-league managers needing three-point production, he’s worth keeping an eye on.

Having fallen out of the Warriors’ rotation recently, Hield logged 23 minutes on Monday. The Warriors didn’t have De’Anthony Melton (knee) for injury management reasons, freeing up minutes for the veteran shooting guard. With Jimmy Butler (knee) leaving early in the third quarter and Stephen Curry saddled with foul trouble early in the fourth, Podziemski stepped up to help lead the Warriors to the win. He finished with a season-high point total, with only a blocked shot missing from Podziemski’s stat line. The Warriors made 24 three-pointers in Monday’s victory, extending the team’s streak of games with 20 or more to four. For the first time since Halloween, Anunoby has recorded back-to-back 20-point games. Anunoby has scored 20 points or more in three of his last five games, but he hasn’t produced consecutive 20-point efforts since the end of October. While he did miss nine games in November/December due to injury, he has tended to take a back seat offensively more often than not. That wasn’t the case on Thursday, as Jalen Brunson’s absence led to Anunoby having his second game with at least 20 attempts this season.
