Durant struggled with his shot on Monday, making two of his eight attempts from beyond the arc. However, he did record a complete stat line, providing solid value in the rebound and assist categories. Thus far, Durant has been a top-20 player in nine-cat formats, which aligns with his Yahoo! Şengün finished Monday’s victory with his third double-double of the season and second in as many games. The Rockets center has been a top-30 player in eight- and nine-cat formats thus far, proving slightly more valuable in the former. Şengün is currently averaging a career-high 7.3 assists per game, benefiting from more opportunities to facilitate with Fred VanVleet (knee) sidelined. At this rate, it would be unsurprising if Şengün produced a top-25 fantasy season.

Thompson came out hot to begin Monday’s game, scoring 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting in the first half. That’s the highest point total he’s recorded in a single half in his NBA career. The Mavericks did a better job defending Thompson after the intermission, but he still recorded an excellent overall stat line. His fantasy value has been low thus far, due mainly to turnovers and a low free-throw percentage. However, fantasy managers should not be too concerned, especially with Fred VanVleet (knee) likely missing the entire season.

With Michael Porter Jr. (personal) unavailable, Clowney made his first start of the season on Monday. And he wasn’t bashful, putting up 12 three-point attempts and making four. The points, rebounds, steals and three-pointers were solid, with Clowney providing some value to the few adventurous souls who streamed him. In the short term, his value depends on Porter’s availability. However, with the Nets now 0-7, Clowney should definitely be on your “silly season” radar.

One day after scoring 29 points against the 76ers, Thomas dropped in another 25 on Monday. He’s scored 25 points or more in four of Brooklyn’s first seven games and is averaging 24.3 per. However, Thomas’s fantasy value in category leagues remains low due to his limited assist and defensive production. On Monday, he was solid in the assist and steal categories but remains ranked outside the top-100 in eight- and nine-cat formats.

Claxton has been one of the few bright spots for the 0-7 Nets, especially over the last three games. He’s scored 18 points or more in each, including consecutive 19-point efforts against the 76ers and Timberwolves. Monday’s stat line included seven assists, the most in a game for Claxton since recording a career-high 10 dimes in a March 6 game against the Warriors. Over his last two games, Nic has recorded 12 assists and four turnovers, an excellent margin for a center.

The Nets won’t have Michael Porter Jr. for Monday’s game, as he is away from the team for personal reasons. Brooklyn will go big, inserting Clowney into the starting lineup. While a capable pick-and-pop option, things haven’t necessarily clicked consistently for the 2023 first-round pick. Look for Ziaire Williams and Jalen Wilson to pick up additional minutes off the bench.

The 27th pick in this year’s draft will likely make his NBA debut on Monday, but it’s unclear what kind of role he’ll have in Brooklyn’s rotation, especially after coming off of injury. While Claxton did not record his second double-double in as many games, he had his most productive all-around performance on Sunday. After blocking one shot total in Brooklyn’s first five games, he recorded three against the 76ers. Fantasy managers are accustomed to punting free-throw percentage when rostering Claxton, but the hope is that he’ll bring more to the table as a shot-blocker. Hopefully, Sunday’s performance is a sign that he’ll be able to do that consistently.

Porter had a rough night from beyond the arc, making just one of his 12 three-point attempts, negatively impacting the field-goal percentage. However, he was elite on the glass, grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds. Porter heads into Brooklyn’s four-game Week 3 providing top-75 value in eight-cat formats, which aligns with his Yahoo! ADP. However, while his fantasy ceiling is higher with the Nets than with the Nuggets, there may be some concern regarding a late-season shutdown with Brooklyn rebuilding.

The good news for fantasy managers is that Thomas provided value in points and three-pointers. However, that’s about all that he did on Sunday. Not only did he record just one rebound and one assist, but there were defensive lapses that factored into Kelly Oubre’s 22-point first quarter for the 76ers. Thomas, an unrestricted free agent next summer, will get his points. However, his financial ceiling in free agency will be determined by what he brings to the table in all areas, not just scoring.

Durant’s unmatched scoring ability has elevated Houston’s offense to another level, as the Rockets boast a league-best 125.2 offensive rating through the season’s first week. The 37-year-old future Hall of Famer came out blazing in this one, knocking down 7-of-8 shots and pouring in 20 first-half points to give Houston an 18-point cushion at the break. He likely would’ve cleared the 30-point mark for the third time in six games had Boston kept it closer down the stretch. Durant will lead the Rockets into a four-game week beginning Monday at home against the Mavericks before a three-game road swing through Memphis, San Antonio, and Milwaukee.

Sengun fell one assist shy of recording a triple-double as Houston’s sheer size and athleticism advantages were simply too much for the undersized Celtics. He shot just 38 percent from the floor in this one, but he was able to pull down 10 rebounds and served as the Rockets de-facto point guard for large stretches of the contest. There will be growing pains with the Nets using three of their five first-round picks in June’s draft on lead guards (Ben Saraf, Egor Dëmin and Nolan Traoré). However, that also means some of the team’s more experienced players may have opportunities to make plays for others. Mann fits the mold, and his six assists on Wednesday were the second-most a Nets player has recorded in a game this season (Cam Thomas had nine against Cleveland on October 24). Mann isn’t at the point where he’s a must-add player, but he’s worth watching due to the Nets’ young roster.

Claxton recorded his first double-double of the season on Wednesday, and rebounding has been a struggle for the 6-foot-11 center. He’s averaging 6.6 boards per game through five appearances, but that number is boosted by Wednesday’s effort and a nine-rebound performance against the Cavaliers on October 24. In his other three games, Claxton grabbed five rebounds or fewer. Claxton is a player that fantasy managers draft with the expectation that they’ll have to punt free-throw percentage, not rebounds.

While Thomas is averaging 23.3 points per game this season, his field-goal percentage has significantly damaged his fantasy value. He’s shooting 39.5 percent from the field, which would be the lowest of his five-year career. Thomas is going to get his numbers, and the fantasy value should improve over the course of the season. However, inefficiency was a concern, especially on a team that’s limited regarding playmakers who can set up their teammates. While he’s no longer in a situation where contending for a title is the expectation, moving from Denver to Brooklyn has raised Porter’s offensive ceiling. Unsurprisingly, Porter has been featured heavily on offense to start the season. However, that has only led to one big scoring night, and it wasn’t on Monday. This was an efficient night for MPJ, but he set a season-low for shot attempts. Fred VanVleet (knee) suffered a torn ACL just before the start of training camp. While he has not officially been ruled out for the entire 2025-26 season, a DPE can only be granted if the player will not play. Per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the exemption would be equivalent to 50 percent of the injured player’s annual salary. VanVleet is due to make $25 million this season. Claxton shot the ball well on Sunday, but he had to deal with foul trouble. Taking on San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is never easy, but the good news for Claxton is that he’ll only see the phenom once more this season. After a disappointing 2024-25 season, the Nets center is ranked just outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats through three games. Returning to the city where he began his NBA career on Thunder ring/banner night, Durant struggled with his perimeter shot (0-of-4 from three) and finished with more turnovers (four) than assists (three) in the one-point defeat. Things could have worsened in the first overtime, as Durant was signaling for a timeout the Rockets did not have. However, the officials did not acknowledge the request, so the game went into a second overtime. Durant, who was excellent in the mid-range, will find his perimeter shot in time while getting more acclimated to an offense that currently lacks a legitimate point guard.
