The 24-year-old playmaker has topped 25 points in four of his last six contests and once again took the lead role with Paolo Banchero sidelined for a fifth straight game due to a lingering groin issue. It’s an encouraging development for fantasy managers, as Wagner will remain the Magic’s primary offensive engine until Banchero returns — a streak that will reach six games on Sunday against the Celtics.

Desmond Bane tallied a season-high 27 points (8-of-16 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), three rebounds, five assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Saturday’s win over the Knicks.

Bane and teammate Franz Wagner formed a devastating one-two punch early, combining for 38 first-half points and ultimately accounting for nearly half (64) of Orlando’s 133-point explosion. The only thing missing for Bane right now is his trademark three-point accuracy — he’s at 33.7 percent through 17 games in his Magic debut — but that feels more like a temporary glitch than a new reality for a sharpshooter who’s lived around 40 percent from deep his entire career.

Jalen Suggs accumulated 26 points (8-of-15 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), three rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes in Saturday’s win over the Knicks.

Suggs’ defensive reputation remains his defining trait, but he cleared the 20-point mark for the second straight game and has now reached double figures in seven consecutive contests dating back to November 4. The 24-year-old defensive stopper has taken on a noticeably larger offensive role for Orlando with superstar Paolo Banchero sidelined by a groin injury. Banchero will miss his sixth straight game on Sunday against the Celtics.

Banchero has missed Orlando’s last five games, most recently sitting out Saturday’s win over the Knicks. When asked about his star forward’s availability for Sunday, Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley said Banchero won’t be available. Tristan da Silva will continue to start until that changes, and he’s worth streaming in deep leagues.

Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, Jabari Smith Jr., Alperen Şengün and Steven Adams will start Friday’s game against the Nuggets.

Due to knee issues, Smith and Adams were initially questionable for Friday’s game. They’re both available and will start as part of a massive Rockets lineup. This is the second consecutive game that head coach Ime Udoka has gone with this lineup, first doing so in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers.

Banchero’s streak of absences will extend to five games, which should mean a fifth straight start for Tristan da Silva, who has played well with his new opportunity. Desmond Bane has stepped up with Banchero sidelined, sporting averages of 20.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.5 triples across his last four outings.

Franz Wagner tallied 20 points (5-of-13 FGs, 10-of-12 FTs), six rebounds, three assists and one steal in Thursday’s win over the Clippers.

Wagner did most of his damage at the foul line, scoring half of his 20 points at the charity stripe. Over the past two weeks, he has provided fifth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. With Paolo Banchero out, Wagner has a slightly higher fantasy ceiling, but he has been Orlando’s best category league option regardless of who’s available.

Desmond Bane amassed 15 points (5-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Clippers.

Bane didn’t have a great night shooting the basketball, going 2-for-9 from inside the arc. However, fantasy managers who have the Magic guard rostered received solid value in the rebound and assist categories. Over the past two weeks, Bane has been ranked just outside the top-50 in eight-cat formats, so progress is being made after a slow start to his first season in Orlando. The Magic finish Week 5 with games against the Knicks and Celtics on Saturday and Sunday.

Tristan da Silva accounted for 17 points (7-of-17 FGs), eight rebounds, one assist and three three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Clippers.

Da Silva has hit double figures in all four games he’s started in place of the injured Paolo Banchero (groin). During this stretch, the second-year forward is ranked just outside the top-75 in eight-cat formats. Da Silva didn’t record any defensive stats on Thursday, but he should be rostered in a higher percentage of Yahoo! leagues. Orlando has games on Saturday and Sunday to end Week 5, and da Silva is rostered in 18 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Jalen Suggs finished Thursday’s win over the Clippers with 23 points (8-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, seven assists, two steals, two blocks and five three-pointers.

Suggs led six Magic players in double figures with 23 points, recording season-highs in points and three-pointers. Over the past two weeks, he has provided third-round value in eight-cat formats. The most significant concern for Suggs’ managers is his availability, as back-to-backs remain off the table. Orlando has another one this weekend, hosting the Knicks on Saturday before visiting Boston the following night.

Steven Adams (knee) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Nuggets.

Adams was inserted into the starting lineup for Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers, bumping Josh Okogie to the bench. Okogie may have been moved back into the starting lineup regardless of Adams’ status. Still, the chances of him returning to that role increase exponentially if the veteran center’s knee keeps Adams out.

Jabari Smith Jr. (knee) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Nuggets.

Smith was initially questionable for Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers, but he started and played 31 minutes. If he can play against the Nuggets, the Rockets forward will be in line for a similar workload. If Smith can’t play, Reed Sheppard becomes a player of greater importance despite not playing the same position.

Palo Banchero (groin) did non-contact, weight room work at Thursday morning shootaround, but there is no timeline for his return to play.

When asked specifically about when Banchero might return, Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said, “They don’t put timelines on it. As he recovers from each session, we’ll go from there.” It sounds like Banchero is day-to-day, but it’s worth noting that there is no immediate plan for him to return this weekend.

Aaron Holiday tallied 18 points (5-of-7 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), one steal and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers.

Holiday has hit double figures in three straight games, with Wednesday’s total being a season-high. He didn’t provide anything beyond the points, three-pointers and percentages, so there’s no need to consider rostering Holiday. Reed Sheppard (12/2/2/1/1 with two three-pointers) remains the superior option for fantasy managers, especially with Tari Eason out due to injury.

Alperen Şengün finished Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers with 28 points (10-of-17 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), 11 rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one blocked shot.

Şengün was outstanding on Wednesday, outplaying Cleveland’s tandem of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen while recording his ninth double-double of the season. The Rockets center, who was effectively the starting power forward with Steven Adams (6/11/3/0/1) in the lineup, is providing top-25 value in eight- and nine-cat formats. That aligns with Şengün’s Yahoo! ADP, so those who have him rostered are in a good place.

Kevin Durant shot 6-of-18 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers, scoring 20 points with three rebounds, three assists and one three-pointer.

Durant was on the proverbial “struggle bus” Wednesday night, shooting poorly from the field and committing four turnovers. Thus far, while his numbers remain solid, KD’s fantasy value has not met the expectations of most managers. Ranked just outside the top-50 in nine-cat formats, he has been two rounds more valuable in eight-cat. Given Durant’s track record and skill set, there’s no need for fantasy managers to lose any sleep over his most recent performance.

With the Cavaliers boasting a bigger frontcourt than most teams, the Rockets have made a change to their starting lineup. Adams will start, which shifts Smith and Şengün up a position, with Josh Okogie coming off the bench. Okogie provided limited value as a starter, so he should already be on the waiver wire in most leagues.

For the third time this season, WCJ was able to record a double-double. He was the leading rebounder in this game, and the Magic outrebounded the Warriors, which contributed to the win. Carter’s minutes are up this year, which has led to him averaging more rebounds than he did in each of the last two seasons. He’ll continue to play a large role for Orlando as the starting center, which should lead to more double-doubles moving forward.

Black’s fantasy upside will remain limited as long as he is in a reserve role behind Suggs and Desmond Bane.

Desmond Bane led the Magic with 23 points (7-of-16 FGs), six rebounds, five assists, five steals and two three-pointers in a 121-113 win over the Warriors on Tuesday.

It was a slow start to the year for Bane, but he has been on fire recently. He’s scored at least 20 points in five of his last seven games and his at least two triples in four straight games. Paolo Banchero (groin) is still sidelined, which has forced Bane into a larger opportunity. That has certainly helped him turn his season around. He also set a new season-high for steals, though that isn’t going to be a category he contributes in consistently.

Suggs sat out Sunday’s overtime loss to the Rockets with a sore right groin, resulting in Anthony Black moving into the starting lineup. Black will come off the bench, lowering his fantasy ceiling. The Magic were without Jalen Suggs (groin) for Sunday’s game, leading to Black making his third start of the season. The third-year guard finished two points shy of his previous high and recorded a complete stat line. Rostered in eight percent of Yahoo! leagues, Black is only worth a look on nights when he’s starting for Suggs. Orlando ends Week 5 with a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back, so Black may have added value on those final days.

Desmond Bane produced 26 points (9-of-20 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), four rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and two three-pointers in Sunday’s loss to the Rockets.

Bane’s game-winning three-pointer against Portland on November 10 may have provided the spark he needed after starting the season slowly. He’s scored 19 points or more in four straight, and 22 or more in three of those outings. Bane finished Sunday’s overtime loss with a complete stat line, and he’s attempted 38 shots in the two games Orlando has played without Paolo Banchero (groin). The “buy low” period for Bane has likely come to an end. The Magic play four games during Week 5, starting with the Warriors on Tuesday.

Franz Wagner accounted for 29 points (8-of-21 FGs, 10-of-13 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, two steals and three three-pointers in Sunday’s loss to the Rockets.

Wagner has totaled 54 points in the two games the Magic have played since losing Paolo Banchero to a strained groin, shooting 15-of-38 from the field. While shooting efficiency has taken a hit, the raw numbers help compensate. Sunday’s game was the last of Orlando’s road trip, so more should be learned about Banchero’s injury and how long he’ll be out pretty soon. Until he returns, Wagner will be the unquestioned first option for Orlando on the offensive end of the floor.

Thompson notched his second double-double of the season on Sunday, but he had a difficult night shooting-wise. Over his last two games, the third-year wing has shot 10-of-30 from the field. The good news for Houston is that Reed Sheppard picked up the slack, coming off the bench to score 16 points with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and two three-pointers. With all that Thompson brings to the table defensively and as a secondary playmaker, his role is secure. And Sheppard is developing into a player who doesn’t need to start to provide tangible fantasy value.

Alperen Şengün tallied 30 points (11-of-31 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), 13 rebounds, eight assists and two blocks in Sunday’s overtime win over the Magic.

Şengün has recorded a double-double in four straight games, with Sunday’s being his first with at least 30 points since Houston’s season-opener. Unfortunately, fantasy managers took a beating in the field-goal percentage and turnover (five) categories, but efficiency has not been a significant issue for the Rockets center this season. Şengün heads into Week 5 providing top-30 value in eight- and nine-cat formats, performing slightly better in the former.

Kevin Durant finished Sunday’s overtime win over the Magic with 35 points (13-of-24 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, one block and two three-pointers.

Durant has scored at least 30 points in two straight and three of his last four appearances, serving as an offensive catalyst during Houston’s four-game win streak. Playing on a better all-around squad than the Suns team he left during the offseason, KD’s points, rebounds and assists have decreased, but not by much. All it takes for him to make good on his Yahoo! ADP (16) is a sustained run of excellence, something he’s shown himself capable of doing throughout his illustrious NBA career. Unfortunately, the Rockets play only two games in Week 5.

Tari Eason (oblique) will be out for 4-6 weeks.

Initially announced to have suffered a hip injury during Friday’s win over the Trail Blazers, Eason has been diagnosed with a strained oblique. While Jeff Green could move into the rotation, it’s just as likely that Josh Okogie and Reed Sheppard will absorb some of the minutes that would have gone to Eason. Jae’Sean Tate is another possibility, but he has not recorded double-digit minutes in any of his seven appearances this season.

Alperen Şengün stuffed the stat sheet on Friday with 25 points (9-of-13 FGs), 10 rebounds, nine assists, three steals, three blocks and four three-pointers against the Trail Blazers

Şengün has been a force all season, but this was arguably his best performance of the year. He fell one assist of a triple-double, but it was the defensive production that really made this an elite performance for him. His assists and steals matched his season-high, while the blocks were the most he’s had in a game this year. On top of that, he didn’t turn the ball over once. This was an incredible outing for Şengün, and he’ll look to wrap the week up on a high note against the Magic on Sunday.

Jabari Smith Jr. lit up the Trail Blazers with 22 points (9-of-16 FGs), five rebounds, three assists and four three-pointers on Friday.

It’s early, but Smith has started this season out well and is currently posting career-highs in points, three-pointers and field goal percentage. This was his second 20-point game of the season, and he matched his season-high for three-pointers. Smith has been a consistent presence in the starting lineup for the Rockets, and while he hasn’t had many big performances, he has been a steady performer.

Kevin Durant led the Rockets with 30 points (12-of-19 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal and three three-pointers in a 140-116 win over the Trail Blazers on Friday.

When Durant has had his shot going this year, he has been unstoppable. This was his fourth 30-point performance of the season, and he has shot at least 50 percent from the floor in each of those. KD’s arrival has helped Houston be the best offensive team in the league so far this season, and he hasn’t even been at his best yet. More performances like this will help both fantasy managers and the Rockets.

Tristan da Silva started on Friday and contributed 22 points (8-of-14 FGs), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and five three-pointers against the Nets.

With Paolo Banchero (groin) sidelined, da Silva slid into the starting unit and took full advantage of the opportunity. He played 32 minutes and had his best offensive performance of the season, which included a clutch triple with less than two minutes left to get Orlando within a point. It’s unclear how long Banchero will be sidelined, but if he remains out, da Silva should be worth streaming. He’s currently available in 96 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Jalen Suggs finished with 14 points (5-of-11 FGs), seven rebounds, six assists, one block, two three-pointers and five turnovers against the Nets on Friday.

Turnovers aside, Suggs had a productive night against Brooklyn, but what is most encouraging is the minutes. He logged 28 minutes and has played at least 25 minutes in each of his last three games. Considering he had been limited to roughly 20 minutes prior to that, he’s clearly getting closer to being at full strength. That doesn’t mean he’s going to play back-to-backs, but this is a positive development for Suggs.

Tari Eason (hip) will not return to Friday’s game against the Trail Blazers.

Eason’s early exit could open the door for Jeff Green to return to the rotation, but it is more likely that Reed Sheppard and Josh Okogie will just see a few extra minutes. The Rockets could also turn to more two-big lineups, which would result in more minutes for Steven Adams and Clint Capela.

While the usual suspects played well for the Rockets on Wednesday, the team also received excellent production from its bench. Eason recorded his second 20-point game of the season and finished one three-pointer shy of his previous high. He’s ranked just outside the top-100 in eight- and nine-cat formats, with decreases in rebounds and steals production lowering Eason’s value. He did not record any defensive stats on Wednesday, the only thing that fantasy managers could complain about when assessing Eason’s performance.

Alperen Şengün amassed 16 points (6-of-13 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 13 rebounds, six assists and two three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Wizards.

Şengün has recorded six double-doubles this season, including Wednesday’s effort against the Wizards. The final stat line was modest, but Şengün has dished out at least six assists in every game he’s played. He’s providing third-round value in eight-cat formats, not too far removed from his Yahoo! ADP of 19. Şengün and the Rockets should be challenged more on Friday when they host the Trail Blazers in an NBA Cup group play matchup.

The Rockets grabbed control of Wednesday’s game early, scoring 40 points in the first quarter and 41 in the second. That may have limited Durant’s output, as he only needed to play 31 minutes. He’s failed to score at least 20 points in a game just twice this season, providing the consistent production the Rockets hoped to receive when they acquired the future Hall of Famer from the Suns during the offseason. Houston hosts Portland on Friday in an NBA Cup group play matchup.

Reed Sheppard recorded 16 points (6-of-10 FGs), two assists, four steals, one block and four three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Bucks.

While Sheppard got off to an inconsistent start on the offensive end of the floor, he’s picked up the production recently. The second-year guard has reached double figures in three straight games, and he’s recorded seven steals during this stretch. Sheppard’s four steals on Sunday were a career-high, surpassing the three he recorded in an October 25 loss to the Pistons. While he still isn’t at the point where he has to be rostered in 12-team leagues, Sheppard is a player to watch for the back end of Week 4, as Houston doesn’t play again until Wednesday.
