Damian Lillard’s season-ending Achilles tendon tear meant the Bucks would have to make at least one change to their starting lineup. Porter will fill the void left by the perennial All-Star, with Green and Portis also being moved from the bench to the starting five. They replace Kyle Kuzma and Brook Lopez, as Bucks coach Doc Rivers searches for an answer that will keep his team’s season alive.

He’s been upgraded to available for Game 5 and will occupy his usual place in the starting lineup. With Bennedict Mathurin (abdominals) also available, the Pacers will have their full rotation as they look to close out the Damian Lillard-less Bucks.

Brutal. Lillard’s 2024-25 season is officially over, and there’s a chance he misses all of next season due to the timing of the injury. It’s unclear what Lillard’s extended absence will mean for fantasy owners in 2025-26, as the Bucks will likely address PG depth in the offseason.

Portis did his best to give the Bucks a spark on Sunday, but the home team was overwhelmed after losing Damian Lillard during the first half. With Brook Lopez (6/1/1/1/1 with two three-pointers in 15 minutes) struggling, Portis moved into the lineup to begin the third quarter. Milwaukee is now in a 3-1 hole, and Portis should play plenty in Tuesday’s Game 5. That will be the case whether he comes off the bench or starts.

After totaling 22 points on 6-of-21 shooting in the first three games of the series, Porter was far better in Game 4. He was efficient as a scorer and playmaker, taking on an enlarged role after Damian Lillard exited with a lower left leg injury. With Bucks coach Doc Rivers saying after the loss that the outlook for Lillard is “not promising,” Porter may be thrust into the starting lineup for Game 5 on Tuesday. Trailing three games to one, Milwaukee’s goal is to get the series back home for Game 6.

The loss of Damian Lillard during the first half with a potential Achilles tendon injury did not prevent Giannis from getting his numbers, as he recorded another double-double. Unfortunately, the Bucks did not have the horses needed to make a run after halftime. Already shouldering a heavy workload, Antetokounmpo will have even more on his plate moving forward. Game 5 is on Tuesday night, with the Bucks trailing three games to one.

After shining in the first two games of the series, Nembhard struggled in Game 3 on Friday. Like Myles Turner, the Pacers guard rebounded nicely as the Pacers rolled in Game 4. Sunday’s win was the fifth in Nembhard’s postseason career in which he’s scored at least 20 points. Indiana will look to close out the series when it hosts Game 5 on Tuesday.

Turner thoroughly outplayed Bucks center Brook Lopez in Game 4, rebounding from a 1-of-9 effort in Indiana’s Game 3 loss on Friday. Impactful on both ends of the floor, Turner’s production was one reason why the Pacers head back home with a 3-1 series lead. Game 5 is on Tuesday, and teams that hold a 3-1 lead have won 95.5 percent of the series in NBA playoff history.

After dropping Game 3 on Friday, Haliburton and the Pacers rebounded impressively on Sunday. While Milwaukee’s loss of Damian Lillard (leg) in the first half undoubtedly helped the visitors, Indiana’s ball and player movement were significantly improved. Indiana assisted on 36 of its 50 made field goals, and Haliburton made some team history. He’s the first Pacer since Paul George in 2014 to record a double-double in each of the first four games of a series. Haliburton and the Pacers will look to close out the series on Tuesday.

Lillard suffered a lower left leg injury while attempting to chase down a missed shot during the first quarter. Unable to put much weight on the leg while being helped to the locker room, the Bucks’ point guard has officially been ruled out. Given that it’s a non-contact injury, there’s undoubtedly some concern regarding Lillard’s ultimate prognosis. Kevin Porter Jr. will figure more prominently within the Bucks’ rotation, and they will also need more offense from Gary Trent Jr. and AJ Green.

Haliburton had a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists and was just three assists away from a triple-double. Still, the 25-year-old point guard was -23 in 32 minutes as the Pacers lost Game 3 by 16 points. Haliburton had most of his points come on his four made three-pointers. The Pacers will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead in Game 4 against the Bucks Sunday.

Siakam has scored at least 24 points in all three games of the series now. The 31-year-old power forward continues to be the primary offensive threat for Indiana. Lillard returned from a calf injury and scored 14 points on 13 shots in Game 2. The 34-year-old point guard’s struggles continued in Game 3 as he had seven points on 12 shots. Lillard, who hadn’t played since March 18 prior to Game 2, played 32 minutes. Whether it’s rust or lingering effects of the injury, his play is clearly diminished. Trent Jr. went off and had his best game of the year when the Bucks absolutely needed it most. Facing what would’ve been a 3-0 series deficit with a loss and with Damian Lillard failing to score in double figures, Trent Jr. poured in 37 points and nine made three-pointers. Trent Jr. and Giannis Antetokounmpo became the only Bucks duo to have at least 35 points each in a playoff game. With Lillard struggling since returning from injury, Milwaukee might need to count on Trent Jr. for another big performance as they look to even the series in Game 4 Sunday.

Though Nembhard’s contributions were mostly on the defensive end as the primary defender on Damian Lillard, he was still able to make an impact in the box score. That included a three-pointer with 1:11 left in the game that gave Indiana an eight-point lead, which they had no issues maintaining. Nembhard doesn’t always fill up the stat sheet, but he’ll continue to be an impactful player for the Pacers as their postseason continues. He’ll look to continue keeping Lillard in check in Game 3 as the series shifts to Milwaukee.

After a fantastic performance in Game 1, Siakam had another big night on Tuesday. He is averaging 24.5 points, nine rebounds, 2.5 assists, two steals and 2.5 triples per game through the first two games of this series, with the Pacers having won both. On the same day that The Athletic released a player survey where Haliburton was voted as the most overrated player in the NBA, Indiana’s star point guard picked apart Milwaukee’s defense to help the Pacers jump out to a 2-0 lead in this series. Haliburton only scored 10 points during a rough shooting performance in Game 1 on Saturday, but he had more success on Tuesday and still dished out 12 assists for the second straight game. With Brook Lopez rendered ineffective, head coach Doc Rivers turned to Portis to take on more minutes at center. Lopez only played 16 minutes after playing 21 minutes in Game 1, while Portis went from playing 25 minutes in Game 1 to playing 31 minutes on Tuesday. Though it didn’t change the result of this game, things went well with Portis on the floor. With Game 3 coming on Friday, we’ll see if this was a rotational adjustment that Rivers will continue to roll with or if this was simply because Portis was having a strong night shooting the ball.

Kuzma’s historically poor Game 1 performance made plenty of rounds on social media over the last few days, but he was more productive in Game 2. He still wasn’t great, but after getting 22 minutes of cardio in Game 1’s 19-point loss, Kuzma was able to chip in some stats on Tuesday. Way to go Kuz! With the series shifting to Milwaukee for Game 3 on Friday, Kuzma will look to be the player that the Bucks were hoping he’d be when they traded for him at the deadline. The last time he played a game in Milwaukee was the regular season finale; he had 22 points in the first quarter before being shut down for the remainder of that game. We’ll see if he can tap back into that shooting prowess.

Just like in Game 1, Indiana didn’t have any answers for Giannis. Also like in Game 1, that wasn’t enough for Milwaukee to get a win. Antetokounmpo has averaged 35 points and 15 rebounds through the first two games of this series, and while he got more help on Tuesday, it still wasn’t enough. There’s no reason to think Giannis won’t continue to put up dominant numbers for this entire series, but other players will need to step up (like Bobby Portis did in this game) if the Bucks are going to comeback in this series. Game 3 will be in Milwaukee on Friday.

Prior to this game, Lillard last played on March 18 due to a deep vein thrombosis in his calf. He missed 15 games before finally returning to play in Game 2 of this series. However, his return wasn’t enough for Milwaukee to even things up. Head coach Doc Rivers didn’t give a set minutes restriction for Lillard before the game, and he ended up logging 37 minutes. The story of Game 1 for the Bucks was the supporting cast letting down Giannis Antetokounmpo with Damian Lillard sidelined. No one was a bigger letdown than Kuzma, the Bucks’ trade deadline acquisition, who failed to record any stats in his 22 minutes. Kuzma was a living embodiment of the Tony Snell meme in Game 1 as the Bucks lost by nine. He’ll look to turn things around over the rest of the series, though overall he certainly hasn’t been as impactful as the Bucks imagined when he was acquired.

Antetokounmpo put the Bucks on his back in Game 1. The 30-year-old power forward went off for 36 points and 12 rebounds, but his supporting cast was a massive letdown. Antetokounmpo managed just one assist as none of the other Bucks starters were able to reach double figures in scoring. Haliburton had an excellent game as a facilitator in Game 1. The 25-year-old point guard moved the ball effectively as he totaled 12 assists. It wasn’t the best shooting game for Haliburton, though. He was just 3-of-13 from the field and missed all seven of his three-point attempts. While the Pacers were still able to take Game 1 by nine points in game that wasn’t as close as the final score, it’s likely they’ll need more scoring from Haliburton to close out this series.

While Turner had just five rebounds in Game 1, he was otherwise excellent. The 29-year-old center was a force on the defensive end with a steal and four blocks. Lillard last appeared in a game on March 18, as a deep vein thrombosis in his calf placed the Bucks guard on the sideline. Lillard has participated in recent practices, which have included some 3-on-3 action, after being medically cleared earlier this week. Conditioning is the major concern at this stage, as he was unable to do anything during the early stages of the DVT. Game 2 of the series is on Tuesday, with the Bucks hosting Game 3 on Friday. Ryan Rollins has been Lillard’s replacement in the starting lineup, with Giannis Antetokounmpo serving as the “point guard.”
