Topic had to undergo a testicular procedure in the offseason, and Presti revealed that the procedure was a biopsy to determine if the 20-year-old had cancer. Unfortunately, the results came back that Topic was indeed dealing with testicular cancer. Topic has begun chemotherapy treatment, and Presti said that the medical team is confident that he will make a recovery. Obviously, there has been no discussion about his timeline to return to the court, and the main goal is simply to ensure his health and well-being.

Given the Pacers’ many injuries, Nesmith has every opportunity to take on an expanded offensive role. Unfortunately, he had a brutal night in Dallas. Nesmith shot 1-of-9 from three, with his last attempt coming off an intentionally missed free throw in the final seconds that would have won the game. Like most of his other shots, Nesmith’s final effort missed the mark. However, while Wednesday’s performance was discouraging, the current state of Indiana’s roster makes it worthwhile to hold onto Nesmith in deep leagues. Especially with the Pacers ending Week 2 with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back.

Dennis was not in the starting lineup on Wednesday, but he was among the Pacers’ finishers. The two-way contract guard shot 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, providing the Pacers with much-needed production off the bench. Starter Ben Sheppard (4/8/2 in 25 minutes) shot 1-of-7 from the field, and he isn’t much of a point guard. Dennis will have value if the Pacers remain severely shorthanded, but not to the point where he needs to be rostered in standard leagues.

While he shot a respectable 4-of-10 from beyond the arc, Walker’s inability to finish in the paint torpedoed his overall field-goal percentage. Shooting 1-of-9 on two-pointers, the third-year forward was 0-of-7 in the paint. The good news for those who streamed Walker out of necessity was that his overall stat line justified that decision. The Pacers end the week with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back, so hold onto Walker if you have him.

With Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) unavailable, it was known before the season began that the Pacers would need even more production from Siakam than they’ve received in the past. Through four games, he’s averaging a double-double for the first time in his NBA career with solid assists and defensive production. The lone issue for Siakam thus far has been the foul line, as he’s making just 55.3 percent of his attempts. However, punt that category and he’s providing top-15 fantasy value. The Pacers end Week 2 with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back against the Hawks and Warriors.

Peter was initially listed as doubtful for Wednesday’s game, so his not playing is unsurprising. The Pacers will be without eight players and are especially depleted in the backcourt. Joe has yet to appear in a game this season, as he’s been sidelined by a left knee contusion. That may change on Thursday; his return would give the Thunder a welcome infusion of depth on the wing. Holmgren will miss a second straight game when the Thunder host the Wizards. Aaron Wiggins replaced him in the starting lineup on Tuesday, recording an 18/6/6/1/3 stat line in Oklahoma City’s win over the Kings. As evidenced by his nonexistent Yahoo! ADP, Mitchell wasn’t on anyone’s fantasy radar during the preseason. Well, through five games, he’s ranked just outside the top-50 in nine-cat formats, providing consistent value off the bench. Mitchell has reached double figures in all five games, scoring at least 14 points in each. He’s rostered in 30 percent of Yahoo! leagues, a sign that many managers have not hesitated to join the bandwagon. And it’s worth holding onto him as long as Jalen Williams (wrist) and Isaiah Joe (knee) remain sidelined.

Wiggins has started two of Oklahoma City’s five games and has been productive in both. He didn’t match the 23 points scored in the Thunder’s October 23 win over the Pacers, but Wiggins did record a complete stat line on Tuesday. Wiggins did his damage offensively in the first three quarters, shooting 7-of-11 from the field. With Chet Holmgren (back) likely returning on Thursday against the Wizards, Wiggins should slide back into his usual reserve role.

OKC • Guard • #2

Already without Jalen Williams (wrist), the Thunder played Tuesday’s game without Chet Holmgren (back). That put even more responsibility upon the shoulders of the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player. To no one’s surprise, Gilgeous-Alexander was up to the task, leading a fourth-quarter rally to help move Oklahoma City to 5-0. SGA shot 4-of-6 from the field in the fourth quarter, and he’s scored 30 points or more in four of five games. Matchups against the Wizards and Pelicans to end Week 2 set up well for Gilgeous-Alexander and those with him on their fantasy rosters.

This one was a low-scoring slugfest as both teams struggled to get anything going offensively. The reigning MVP knocked down just one three-pointer as Oklahoma City shot 20 percent (6-of-30) from distance in an ugly win. When SGA scores 30 points, his scoring average goes down.
