LaRavia shot the ball efficiently on Thursday en route to finishing as one of five Lakers to score in double figures. The first-year Laker also collected a couple of steals in his team-high 37 minutes and tied for the team lead in three-pointers. LaRavia scored in double figures for the sixth time in January and continues to have a really good stretch from a production standpoint. He’s rostered in only 21 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and could be a worthwhile roster addition for those managers looking for upside.

Dončić put up another high-scoring performance on Thursday, despite it coming in a lopsided defeat. Yet, the do-it-all guard struggled to make much of an impact when he wasn’t scoring. Dončić combined for just seven rebounds and assists, which marks the lowest since December 20 against the Clippers, a game in which he exited early due to injury. He limited his turnovers to just one on Thursday, a great improvement from the seven he had on Tuesday. Nonetheless, fantasy managers should expect Dončić to get back to his stat-stuffing ways fairly quickly.

James followed up his 31/9/10 outing against the Hawks with another well-rounded performance on Thursday. In his 33 minutes, he once again shot well from the floor and was efficient from the three-point line, as his impact as a rebounder and playmaker also carried over. The 41-year-old forward also gathered a few stocks before the final horn sounded, giving him lots of fantasy basketball production on the night. Porter Jr. was one of several Milwaukee players to struggle against San Antonio on Thursday. However, his struggles marked a season low in points and tied season lows in assists and rebounds. Kuzma bounced back from a two-point outing against the Timberwolves to record one of his best scoring performances of January. The former NBA champion mostly did his damage from beyond the arc and did so on high volume, ultimately setting a new season-high in triples before finishing as Milwaukee’s second-leading scorer on the night. Kuzma didn’t have much production elsewhere, but regardless, had a nice bounce-back performance on Thursday.

An uncompetitive game left Antetokounmpo with just 22 minutes of game action on Thursday. This was Ayton’s second straight double-double, which was the first time he had consecutive double-doubles since November. He also set a new season high for boards in the win. Ayton has been an excellent source of rebounds and field goal percentage this season, though he hasn’t had much success in other categories. Still, that has been enough for him to once again be a top-100 player in category leagues. He’s had a few rough games in recent weeks, so this performance was encouraging.

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks were simply overmatched against the Timberwolves Tuesday. Milwaukee found themselves down 31 points at halftime and eventually lost by 33. Antetokounmpo was efficient with 25 points on 13 field goal attempts, but failed to get his teammates involved with seven turnovers and just five assists. According to McMenamin, Dončić had his inner thigh/groin area treated in the second half of Monday’s loss to the Kings, and his status for the second leg of the Lakers’ back-to-back set is uncertain. The Lakers have not yet submitted an injury report for Tuesday’s tilt with the Hawks, but LeBron James has not played both legs of a back-to-back this season, so his status is also in question. Los Angeles could be sorely undermanned, which would lead to the team picking up the slack in a committee approach, with guys like Dalton Knecht, Nick Smith Jr. and Gabe Vincent seeing increased run. The team will need to lean heavily on its available starters, which could mean monster usage for Rui Hachimura, Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia.

One of the few positives for the Lakers in a game in which they allowed the Kings to shoot 59 percent from the field was the production of their centers. After totaling 13 points and nine rebounds in his previous two games, Ayton recorded his 14th double-double of the season. By comparison, he had 20 double-doubles last season. Jaxson Hayes added 12 points (5-of-6 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), five rebounds and one assist in 19 minutes off the bench. If LeBron James doesn’t play in Tuesday’s game against the Hawks, there should be more opportunities for Ayton and Hayes offensively, even if it’s just in the two-man game with Luka Dončić.

Dončić had it rolling during the first half of Monday’s game, scoring 26 points. However, after dropping 14 more in the third, the Lakers’ guard only scored two in the fourth. Add in the Lakers’ inability to get stops, and the result was another double-digit defeat. Simply put, the Lakers either come through in the clutch, or their stars wind up watching the final minutes of a loss on the bench (with the occasional exception). For just the third time in his career, and the first since October 29, 2022, Dončić fouled out of an NBA game on Friday. His foul of Milwaukee’s Kevin Porter Jr. on a three-point attempt with 16.2 seconds remaining led to two made free throws that gave the Bucks the lead for good. With Rui Hachimura (calf) once again unavailable, LaRavia was in the Lakers’ starting lineup for the sixth consecutive game. While the final stat line on Friday was modest, the forward was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo was able to poke the ball away from behind, resulting in James’ third turnover of the night. Giannis came up with the biggest defensive play of Friday’s game, as he poked the ball away from LeBron James in the final seconds to prevent the Lakers’ forward from attempting a potential game-tying layup. While Antetokounmpo’s shot volume was low, he shot the ball efficiently from the field and the foul line. Having seemingly put to rest any rumors regarding his future in Milwaukee, the question now is what (if anything) the Bucks will look to do to strengthen the roster around Antetokounmpo before the trade deadline. Usually, the approach of having Giannis earn his points at the foul line results in him leaving some points on the board, given his poor shooting at the free-throw line. Well, that approach didn’t work for the Kings, as he made 11 of his 13 attempts on the night.
