Landale shifted to the bench in favor of Santi Aldama, but the latter delivered a pitiful 9/5/3 line with no defensive contributions. The points represent Landale’s second-highest total of the season, and he should remain active in Memphis’ rotation until Zach Edey (ankle) returns, whether as a starter or with the second unit.

Morant returned from a six-game injury and looked no worse for wear as he went off for 20 points, 10 dimes and four boards in the first half. Memphis cruised to victory in this one, and Morant could have had an even bigger night had this one been more competitive. The Grizzlies will travel home from their European road trip, and won’t play again until Wednesday. Morant’s status moving forward will remain in question as he’s been forced to miss significant time and his name is still on the trade block, but this was good to see for fantasy managers.

Clowney had just six points in 31 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Pelicans, but bounced back in a big way against the Bulls on Friday. The 21-year-old power forward got off to a great start with 12 points and seven rebounds in the first half. He finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds to secure his first double-double this season. Clowney has provided 10th-round per game value over the last two weeks, but it’s games like Friday where he flashes high-ceiling potential that make him a more interesting player in dynasty formats.

Porter drove the lane and scored with five seconds left in regulation to give the Nets the lead. The victory was sealed as Chicago failed to score again in the final seconds. Porter continues to play at a high level amid trade rumors, which will likely only ramp up until the trade deadline. He’s provided second-round per game value over the last two weeks. Spencer didn’t have a great day shooting the basketball, but he still offered excellent value in rebounds and assists. The second-year guard, who only committed one turnover, has hit double digits in assists in three consecutive games. With Ja Morant, Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr. all injured, and the former the subject of trade rumors, the point guard role belongs to Spencer for now. He’s worth rostering in deep leagues as long as Memphis is shorthanded on the perimeter.

Since scoring a career-high 37 points in a December 23 win over the Jazz, Aldama had not recorded more than 15 points in any game. That changed on Thursday in Berlin, as the Grizzlies forward/center hit all four of his three-point attempts. Zach Edey’s (ankle) absence has opened up additional opportunities for Aldama. Still, the impact has been muted since Jock Landale (6/5/1/1/1 with one three-pointer) has been the replacement in the starting lineup.

Coward finished a steal shy of a complete stat line in Berlin, and he’s been close to a top-75 player in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. Days like Thursday are a reminder of what Jackson can offer to fantasy managers, even with his lackluster rebounding production. He scored 23 points in the first half before going quiet, but he did record his third 30-point game of the season. Jackson’s poor rebounding makes the defensive categories that much more critical when assessing his fantasy value, and he recorded four “stocks” on Thursday. Back in the rotation after sitting out Monday’s loss to the Mavericks, Thomas was limited to 24 minutes against the Pelicans. With this being the guard’s contract year, the role has to be frustrating. Fantasy managers can take solace in the assist tally, as Thomas’ five helpers were the most in a game for him since he dished out nine on October 24. Those who have him rostered must be hoping for a trade by the February 5 deadline, because the situation could become more dire from a fantasy standpoint if he isn’t.

Making his third start and second in as many games, Powell dropped a season-high point total on Wednesday. Add in the rebounds and field-goal percentage, and this was a solid effort from the rookie. Remember when Dëmin’s shooting was the most significant question that draft analysts had about him? Unfortunately for him, his shot from a few steps inside of half-court was wide left, extending the Nets’ losing streak to five games. Porter has been one of the bright spots for Brooklyn, playing well enough that his name has been mentioned in trade rumors. Coward, who has been battling a lingering ankle issue recently, took on an expanded role from a scoring standpoint in this one with Memphis still playing without mercurial guard Ja Morant due to an ongoing calf injury. The 22-year-old hoisted a team-leading 15 shots and knocked down 5-of-10 from three-point range to fuel his fifth 20-point effort on the season.
