Markkanen will miss Wednesday’s game for personal reasons. To account for his absence, the Jazz have made Walker Kessler (rest) available after initially ruling him out. Kyle Filipowski and KJ Martin should play more minutes with Markkanen unavailable, with the former offering a higher fantasy ceiling.

Initially ruled out for Wednesday’s game, Kessler is now available. While he should be in the starting lineup, it would be unsurprising if Kessler did not play starters’ minutes. Aldama and Pippen missed Monday’s loss to the Kings, with the former having missed the Grizzlies’ last five games. The absences of Pippen and Ja Morant have led to Cam Spencer entering the rotation, but he is not worth adding in most leagues. As for Aldama, John Konchar may play a few more minutes off the bench, but he’s only worth a look for deep-league managers needing rebounds.

Though he didn’t get much help from his teammates, this was an excellent offensive performance from Bane. He set a new season-high for scoring, and it came after four consecutive games with less than 25 points. Bane scored over a third of the Grizzlies’ points, which wasn’t enough to get the job done against a balanced attack from Sacramento. However, he was able to step up with Ja Morant sidelined with a hamstring injury. If Morant remains out in Portland on Wednesday, Bane could be in for another big night.

With Ja Morant sidelined, Kennard took on the role of facilitator for Memphis. This was his second-straight start, but it wasn’t a productive one outside of the assist boost. This was Kennard’s fifth game this season with at least eight dimes, but he wasn’t able to reach his season-high of 11. Kennard has upside as long as he is starting, but the production hasn’t been there consistently for him. He is known for his deep-range shooting, so while the assist numbers are fun, Kennard not hitting a triple is disappointing.

Clarkson did not play in Sunday’s loss to the Timberwolves, and his return meant fewer minutes for Johnny Juzang. While the veteran guard shot 50 percent from the field and dished out three assists, he was also responsible for four turnovers. Add in the 22 minutes, and there may not be much to gain from rostering Clarkson down the stretch. As for Juzang, he finished the loss with eight points, two rebounds, one steal and two three-pointers in 16 minutes. He isn’t a must-roster player, but there will be nights when Juzang is allowed to start as Utah looks to improve its draft lottery odds.

After sitting out Sunday’s loss to the Timberwolves, George returned to the Jazz rotation. While the points and steals were solid, he was responsible for four turnovers. The inefficiency has factored into Utah’s decision to start rookie Isaiah Collier at the point, as he has been better than George at setting up his teammates. Collier finished Monday’s loss with eight points, six rebounds, eight assists and one turnover. George is the superior scorer, but the hope is that he’ll use the rest of the season to improve as a playmaker for others.

Fantasy managers should be accustomed to the shenanigans in Salt Lake City. Markkanen was in the starting lineup for Monday’s game but only played 24 minutes, an apparent response to the NBA’s decision to fine the Jazz $100,000 regarding his availability for prior games. Fantasy managers can only hope that Markkanen blows up in his 24 minutes because he’s highly unlikely to play starters’ minutes the rest of the season.

Aldama was initially doubtful for Monday’s game, while Pippen was listed as questionable. Their absences leave the Grizzlies down another two rotation players, with Ja Morant (shoulder) already out. Markkanen will be available for a fourth-straight game, and this even comes on the second night of a back-to-back. Clearly, the $100k fine for poor injury reporting got to the Jazz. Markkanen has played 24.5 minutes per game over these last three games, so managers should manage their expectations.

Mykhailiuk is a late addition to the injury report on the second night of a back-to-back after playing 26 minutes on Sunday. When the Grizzlies are without Ja Morant, Bane’s full game tends to be unlocked.
