Stewart has been dealing with right knee inflammation for a while now, including during Saturday’s loss to the Knicks in the series opener. While “Beef Stew” played for 19 minutes, he appeared to struggle with his movements and was not as impactful as he could have been. If Stewart cannot play on Monday, Paul Reed would likely move into the rotation; however, he is not as impactful, especially defensively.

As was the case for most of the regular season, Beasley provided solid production off the bench in Game 1. And after shooting 14-of-25 from three in two games against the Bucks to end the regular season, he carried that form over into Saturday’s matchup. Beasley shot 6-of-12 from three in Game 1 while also providing solid value in rebounds, steals and blocks. In four regular-season meetings with the Knicks, he shot 55.6 percent from three with an average of 3.8 makes and 15.8 points. Based on those numbers and his showing on Saturday, Beasley will have value in this series. Game 2 is on Monday night.

Cunningham recorded a double-double in his playoff debut, but this was far from a smooth performance for the Pistons’ point guard. Guarded by OG Anunoby for most of Game 1, Cade shot under 50 percent from the field and committed six turnovers. Also, he and the Pistons appeared powerless to stop what would become a 21-0 Knicks run to open the fourth quarter. Now that Cunningham has a taste of the postseason, he’ll look to rebound on Monday when the Pistons and Knicks meet again in Game 2.

As was the case for most of the regular season, Hardaway provided points and three-pointers, and not much else. That said, this was an encouraging performance, given how he ended the regular season. In Detroit’s final three games, Hardaway totaled 19 points on 7-of-21 shooting. With the defensive attention the Knicks have devoted to Cade Cunningham, there will be opportunities for Hardaway to put up points playing off the ball. He and the Pistons will look to even the series when they face the Knicks in Game 2 on Monday.

Saturday’s series opener was a tale of two halves for Harris. Shooting 7-of-10 from the field, he scored 22 points in the first half. Harris would only attempt three shots after halftime, going silent as the Pistons went from leading by eight at the end of the third quarter to trailing by 13 due to a 21-0 Knicks run. While the overall line was encouraging, the Pistons need a more consistent Harris if they’re to win this series. Game 2 is on Monday night.

The story of Game 1 for the Bucks was the supporting cast letting down Giannis Antetokounmpo with Damian Lillard sidelined. No one was a bigger letdown than Kuzma, the Bucks’ trade deadline acquisition, who failed to record any stats in his 22 minutes. Kuzma was a living embodiment of the Tony Snell meme in Game 1 as the Bucks lost by nine. He’ll look to turn things around over the rest of the series, though overall he certainly hasn’t been as impactful as the Bucks imagined when he was acquired.

Antetokounmpo put the Bucks on his back in Game 1. The 30-year-old power forward went off for 36 points and 12 rebounds, but his supporting cast was a massive letdown. Antetokounmpo managed just one assist as none of the other Bucks starters were able to reach double figures in scoring. The Greek Freak will need a little more help from his friends to make this series and the Bucks could be getting back Damian Lillard in the next couple games.

Charania also reported that this is an incredibly quick recovery for Lillard that was made possible by early treatment. It is an excellent development for both Dame and the Bucks. He has been ruled out for Game 1 against the Pacers on Saturday, and they will give him time to ramp up before he returns to the lineup. It’s unclear what that timeline looks like, but Lillard is certainly on pace to return sooner rather than later. Ryan Rollins should continue to start in place of Dame until he returns.

With four of Milwaukee’s five starters ruled out for a season finale that had no impact on playoff seeding, Smith played extended minutes for the first time since early February. The rookie played very well, shooting 66.7 percent from the field and recording his first 20-point game. Smith has not been in the rotation this season, and that isn’t going to change during the playoffs. But give the rookie credit for staying ready for his moment, which presented itself on Sunday.

Kuzma was the lone starter on the court for Sunday’s regular-season finale and did not get cheated as he went on a heater for a quarter. He was back in street clothes for the second half. While he’s had his moments since joining the Bucks at the February trade deadline, Kuzma has not been as impactful as some may have hoped. Milwaukee will need a player closer to the one they saw on Sunday if they’re to take down the Pacers in the first round.

Having been passed in the rotation by AJ Green (6/3/4 with two three-pointers in 19 minutes), one can argue that Connaughton desperately needed a day like Sunday, regardless of the strength of the two teams on the court. Not only did he establish a new career-high point total, but this was also his first game with at least 25 points. Connaughton shot over 50 percent from the field and was also productive in the rebound, assist and steals categories. His role in Milwaukee’s first-round series against the Pacers will likely be limited, but Sunday’s effort should boost Connaughton’s confidence.

Sasser was one of two new starters, stepping in for Cade Cunningham in a game that had no bearing on the Pistons’ playoff seeding. While he did not shoot the ball as well as he’s capable of, going 1-of-6 from three, the second-year point guard recorded a season-high assist tally. With Cunningham and Dennis Schroder in the mix, Sasser is unlikely to play rotation minutes in the Pistons’ first-round series against the Knicks. And the former’s presence as Detroit’s franchise cornerstone is why Sasser is unlikely to be a consistent factor in fantasy basketball next season.

Fantasy managers in active leagues (and DFS tournaments) likely hoped to get more out of Holland on Sunday. The rookie did not provide much value as a starter, playing 23 minutes before giving way to players such as Lindy Waters III (18/5/1/1/1 with six three-pointers in 35 minutes) and even 17 minutes to the other Ron — Ron Harper Jr.. Holland will be in the Pistons’ rotation when the playoffs begin next weekend, but his playing time and value will be limited against the Knicks.

It doesn’t take much for Beasley to get rolling, and his hot shooting during the second and third quarters dragged the Pistons back into a game that was on its way to being a laugher. He shot 7-of-9 from three in those periods, appearing in fine form ahead of the Pistons’ first playoff appearance since 2019. Beasley’s name won’t be on the marquee for the first-round series against the Knicks, but he’s capable of being a factor. New York ranks 25th in the NBA in three-point percentage defense, which may be an area that Detroit can exploit.

Duren put up another double-double, his sixth in his last seven games. The 21-year-old center is closing out the regular season on a high note as he’s provided seventh-round fantasy value over the last two months of the season. Fantasy managers will certainly take that after a slow start to the season. Duren isn’t a name fantasy managers should forget heading into drafts next season.

Cunningham had one of his most efficient scoring games of the year as he dropped 36 points on 21 shots against the Bucks Friday. The 23-year-old point guard did it all for the Pistons once again, dishing out 12 assists on his way to a double-double. Cade has put up 36 points in back-to-back games. Despite missing time with a calf issue in previous weeks, he seems to be feeling good with the Pistons one game away from a playoff series.

Porter Jr. continues to be a revelation in the season’s final two weeks. The 24-year-old point guard came off the bench Friday, but played 31 minutes, more than every starter not named Giannis Antetokounmpo. While Porter Jr. has certainly benefited from the absence of Damian Lillard, he’s also been a top-50 fantasy player over the last two weeks. He’s made the most of his opportunity and that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

For Thompson managers whose leagues run through Week 23, the Pistons play four games, and Monday’s matchup with the Kings will be excellent for streaming purposes.

Jalen Duren (leg) was ruled out shortly before tip-off, so Stewart was inserted into the starting lineup. And he had a productive night, filling the stat sheet in 34 minutes on the court. Duren’s absence also meant Paul Reed remained in the rotation, but he offered limited production in his 11 minutes on the court. Once Duren returns, Stewart will head back to the bench.
