Randle eclipsed 30 points for the third time in six games, continuing to shoulder an expanded scoring role with Anthony Edwards sidelined by a hamstring injury. Reid bounced back from a rough shooting night earlier in the week against the Lakers, when he went just 2-of-10 from the field and 1-of-5 from distance. Gobert did most of his damage down the home stretch as he took advantage of Charlotte’s lack of an interior presence outside of rookie center Ryan Kalkbrenner, recording his second double-double of the season. He’s unlikely to add much from a scoring standpoint, but he’s a reliable rebounder and is averaging nearly two blocks per-game this season. The five assists were certainly a nice bonus in this one.

Jokić started the year with a triple-double in each of the first four games of the season. That streak came to an end on Friday as the 30-year-old center had 21 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists against the Trail Blazers. Jokić missed it by one assist. Alas, he’ll have to wait until Monday against the Kings for his next chance at recording a triple-double.

Johnson’s layup attempt with seven seconds left in regulation of a tie game was erases by Toumani Camara and the Trail Blazers would go on to win on free throws. The 29-year-old small forward has struggled mightily in his first few games with the Nuggets. Johnson has failed to score even 10 points in four of five games this year. He’s dealing with a shoulder injury that could be the root cause of his struggles and fantasy managers have to take that into account.

While he’s yet to miss a full game this season, Johnson did exit Monday’s win over the Timberwolves during the fourth quarter due to right shoulder inflammation. Randle’s clutch, driving layup gave the Timberwolves a one-point lead with 10 seconds left in regulation, but the Lakers answered with an Austin Reaves game-winning floater. Still, the 30-year-old power forward continues to have big scoring nights while Anthony Edwards (hamstring) is sidelined. Randle has at least 30 points in two of his last three games. Hardaway Jr. had the hot hand against Minnesota and displayed it during the third quarter of Monday’s contest. In the period, he connected on all five of his shot attempts and went 3-of-3 from beyond the arc before finishing the frame with 15 points. Murray was productive over the first two quarters of Monday’s contest, but hadn’t put his fingerprints on the game in any significant way to that point. However, he erupted after halftime, tallying four three-pointers and five free throws en route to a massive 23-point third quarter, which took Denver from down eight points at halftime to up eight entering the fourth frame. Jokic logged his highest-scoring game of the season en route to his third consecutive triple-double. The former Finals MVP was extremely efficient from the field and perfect from the free-throw line in what turned out to be his third game scoring at least 20 points thus far. His most impact as a scorer came in a 5-of-5 shooting first quarter that led him to 13 points in the opening frame. McDaniels was aggressive on the offensive end in Minnesota’s first game of the season without Anthony Edwards (hamstring). The versatile forward led all Timberwolves players in shot attempts and was the only one to tally double-digit makes. He was efficient from the floor and, unsurprisingly, made an impact on the defensive end as a shot blocker. McDaniels didn’t get involved much on the glass or as a passer, but if he can stay consistent as a scorer during Edwards’s absence, he’ll provide an undermanned Timberwolves squad with a needed scoring boost.

On the heels of a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double against the Pacers, Reid turned in another strong performance off the bench on Monday. Against the Nuggets, he was one of two Minnesota players to drain multiple three-pointers, tied a team high in rebounds, and finished as one of the Timberwolves’ top three scorers on the evening. On the second night of a back-to-back, Randle provided the Timberwolves with efficient scoring, decent rebounding, and activity on the defensive end of the floor. His biggest impact on the offensive end came in an 11-point second quarter, helping the Timberwolves outscore the Nuggets by 12 to take an eight-point lead into halftime. Randle was quiet in the third frame but closed the game with seven points in the final quarter to put him past the 20-point mark for the third time this season. He’ll likely be leaned on even more as a scorer during this stretch in which Anthony Edwards is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Edwards injured his right hamstring during the first quarter of Sunday’s win over the Pacers. According to Charania, the guard has been diagnosed with a strained hamstring and will miss two weeks. Based on the timeline, Edwards will miss at least seven games, which doesn’t factor in a ramp-up period. Mike Conley could be the replacement in the starting lineup, but fantasy managers should also plan on Terrence Shannon Jr. taking on a more prominent role within the rotation. Reid was 4-for-13 with 11 points in the first two games of the season. The 26-year-old center bounced back against the Pacers on Sunday with a stronger offensive workload. His three-point shot is still off with Reid shooting 2-for-9 from behind the arc this season. Despite those struggles, he’s had three-point field goal percentages of 37.9 and 41.4 over the last two seasons. Reid should be in line for more consistent scoring once he starts making more threes again.

While the rebounding between the two teams overall was about even, the Pacers’ skeleton crew of 10 active players were no match for Gobert on the boards. After an inefficient triple-double in the season opener, Jokic was far more efficient in this one. He only missed two shots. That’s easier to do when you only take eight shots. Jokic’s unique ability to completely dominate games without shooting often is incredible. He only took one shot in the first half, and he ended up recording the eighth triple-double of his career where he took eight or fewer shots. DiVincenzo made his second start at the point guard position on Friday and found greater individual success than in the season opener. He left his mark from beyond the arc against the Lakers en route to scoring in double figures for the first time this season. Julius Randle was one of the brightest spots for Minnesota’s offense on Friday. Accurate shooting from deep and inside the three-point line helped lead the veteran forward to his first 20-point outing of the season, which allowed him to finish as the second-leading scorer on the team. Randle’s work on the glass was also impressive and nearly enough to secure a double-double, while his handful of dimes tied a team-best. Looking ahead, Randle should remain in his current role as a heavily featured starting forward — his production should be sustainable.

Despite not putting up as jaw-dropping a performance as he did in the season-opener against the Trail Blazers, Edwards was still impressive in Friday’s loss to the Lakers. This was a strong way to start the year off for Murray, who had a Yahoo! ADP of 37.3. He only had five double-doubles all of last season. Of course, Jokic started off the year with a triple-double. This was the second straight season that he recorded a triple-double in the season opener. It was a subpar shooting performance for him, and his struggles from beyond the arc (2-of-12) were certainly a factor. Obviously, there is no reason to be concerned about Jokic after one game. Gordon had an unreal start to this game, making his first eight attempts from beyond the arc. He ended up setting a new career-high for both points and three-pointers, with the 10th triple giving Denver a lead late in the fourth before Stephen Curry forced overtime. Gordon only added five more points in the extra frame, with two of those coming after the game was all but over. It was a monster performance that was wasted in the loss, though that aspect won’t matter for fantasy managers. McDaniels hit a three-pointer that put the Timberwolves ahead with 2:25 left in the fourth quarter. It was a clutch shot at that point in the game, though the Timberwolves would give up the lead only to get it back on a clutch shot by Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards was said to be dealing with a back injury heading into this game, but he ultimately didn’t defer any of his typical usage as he led the team with 28 shot attempts. Randle would’ve figured to pick up some usage if Edwards was out.
