Young is dealing with an MCL sprain in his right knee. It was reported that he’d be re-evaluated in four weeks at the beginning of the month, but now it’ll be another two weeks before there’s an update on the 27-year-old point guard’s health. While Young was able to avoid an ACL injury and any structural damage to his knee, he’s set to miss a solid portion of the season.

NAW has been an incredible fill-in for Trae Young (knee) this season, and he showed why once again in this game. This was his eighth game this season with at least 20 points, and he has more than doubled his scoring average from last season. In previous seasons, NAW had been more of a defensive specialist, but he has been getting it done on both ends of the floor this year. Even when Young returns, NAW should still maintain standard-league value.

Coming off his worst performance of the season in a blowout loss to the Wizards, Johnson was able to respond in a big way. His second triple-double of the season also featured his second-best mark for both points and assists this year. Johnson has been a fantasy superstar this year, and the return of Trae Young (knee) shouldn’t drop his production significantly.

Daniels was able to provide his typical dose of swipes, but the offensive production has been more notable. Scoring isn’t going to be a strength for him consistently, but the playmaking is absolutely something that will stick, at least until Trae Young (knee) returns. Young is supposed to be re-evaluated soon, which should provide more clarity to when he’ll be back in the lineup. Until then, Young should have more opportunities on offense.

One game removed from scoring 16 points and giving the Pelicans a needed boost off the bench in a win over the Bulls, Alvarado was even better on Wednesday. He recorded season-highs in points and three-pointers while finishing a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. Jeremiah Fears (10/2/3 with one three-pointer in 26 minutes) remains the starting point guard, but Alvarado’s increased playing time and production make him worth a look in deeper leagues.

As was the case in Monday’s win over the Bulls, Yves Missi (6/6/3/0/3) played more minutes than Queen. However, the split was closer to even, with Missi logging 29 minutes and Queen 24. The rookie did record nine assists, two shy of his season high, and his ability to facilitate offense should raise Queen’s fantasy ceiling in time. He has provided seventh-round value over two weeks, so losing playing to Missi has not done too much harm to Queen’s value.

Not only did Hawkins hit double figures for the second time this season on Wednesday, but he notched season-highs in points and three-pointers. However, for as productive as he was in 15 minutes of action, Hawkins is not at the point where he should be rostered in redraft leagues. Wednesday’s performance may have earned him another shot at rotation minutes, especially with Herb Jones out, but it changes nothing in terms of Hawkins’ fantasy value.

Bey extended his double-double streak to three games on Wednesday, and he remains a starter with Herb Jones unavailable. Over the past week, the Pelicans forward has been a top-50 player in nine-cat formats. We’re at the point where Bey can be trusted in a higher percentage of Yahoo! leagues, especially since he’s starting alongside Zion Williamson (17/5/4/0/2). And New Orleans ending Week 6 with a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back is another reason to consider adding Bey.

Despite not recording any defensive stats, Daniels provided solid value in the rebound and assist categories. Over the past two weeks, he has been a seventh-round player in 12-team, nine-cat formats, ranking just outside the top-75. While Trae Young’s absence has not boosted Daniels’ fantasy value to the heights some hoped, he’s been better than he was at the start of the season. The Hawks play games on Friday and Sunday to end Week 6.

Unsurprisingly, Okonwgu’s return to the bench did not negatively impact his fantasy value. He’s scored at least 20 points in six of his last seven appearances, providing top-15 value in nine-at formats during this stretch. While some fantasy managers may be tempted to sell high, a better course of action may be to hold onto him. Not only should Okongwu’s production be considered, but also the injury history of starter Kristaps Porziņģis.

Back in the lineup after sitting out Sunday’s win over the Hornets, Porziņģis was one of the few Hawks to play well in Tuesday’s blowout defeat. Despite having just five games with at least 20 points, he’s closing in on top-25 value in nine-cat formats. Increased assist production has been a factor, with Porziņģis averaging a career-high 3.3 helpers per game. For the first time since December 2023, Bey has recorded a double-double in consecutive games. In Monday’s victory, he also notched his third 20-point game of the season and has provided unexpected deep-league fantasy value in New Orleans. Usually Zion Williamson’s replacement in the lineup when he’s unavailable, Bey started alongside him on Monday, as the Pelicans are without Herb Jones. Murphy has scored at least 20 points in eight of his last 10 games, a stretch in which he’s provided top-20 value in nine-cat formats according to Basketball Monster. Having a healthy Zion Williamson on the court certainly helps New Orleans, but it’s Murphy who has the most varied offensive skill set of the team’s rotation players. Three Pelicans starters scored at least 20 points on Monday, with Williamson leading the way. He had a big night at the foul line, making 13 of his 16 attempts, and Zion is shooting 69.3 percent for the season. While that percentage isn’t high enough to prevent Williamson managers from punting that category, it’s nearly four points higher than his 2024-25 mark (65.6 percent). After a slow start to the season, he’s closing in on top-100 value in eight-cat formats, which is good news for those who have Williamson rostered.

Alvarado was one of the Pelicans’ reserves who gave the team a welcome spark on Monday, and he finished with one of his best stat lines of the season. Alvarado finished two rebounds and two assists shy of a triple-double, with the latter tally representing a new season-high. Jeremiah Fears (15/4/3 with two three-pointers) is the starter and will remain in that role for the foreseeable future, which limits Alvarado’s fantasy value. But he’s capable of chipping in when needed, as was the case on Monday.

While the Pelicans scored 74 points in the first half, that did not keep interim head coach James Borrego from making a few lineup changes. Missi and Jose Alvarado were inserted into the lineup, with rookies Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen (8/5/4/1/1 in 17 minutes) being bumped to the bench. Missi had his best game of the season, recording a double-double with season-highs in points and rebounds. Add in the blocked shots, and Monday’s effort was a step in the right direction for the second-year center. As long as Queen remains the starter, there isn’t much to gain from rostering Missi right now. But keep an eye on him, as his value may expand during the “silly season.”

While others have benefitted immensely from Trae Young’s (knee) absence, Daniels’ fantasy value has not received a significant boost. However, he had his most productive game of the season on Sunday, recording his first 20-point game while also providing solid value in the rebound, assist and steals categories.
