Not only did Zion go through a full practice, but he “came in early to get extra work in.” Borrego “said the team still hasn’t determined if Zion will be cleared to play in back-to-backs,” and the Pelicans will also take on the Hawks on Saturday, so the team may be determining which game they’d like him to suit up for. The Mavericks game feels more winnable and, thus, like the more likely game for Zion.

The Pelicans are just 2-13 and are tied for the second-worst record in basketball; however, they do not control the rights to their own first-round draft pick after the move to trade up and get Derik Queen this past draft. Sidery reports that “rival executives believe the Pelicans could net three first-round picks and multiple high-end prospects in return for Murphy.” That kind of package would be enticing to a team that is at the bottom of the standings with no upcoming first-round draft pick.

Clingan was dominant on the glass against the Bulls, recording a career-high rebound total. Even better for fantasy managers was that the second-year center recorded a complete stat line with solid percentages. So far, Clingan has exceeded his Yahoo! ADP (84) in eight- and nine-cat formats, closing in on the top-50 in the latter. With Robert Williams’ availability still being an issue and rookie Yang Hansen not ready to contribute consistently, Clingan’s value will increase if he’s able to play 30 minutes or more. Wednesday’s game was the second this season in which he logged at least 30 minutes.

After enjoying an excellent first season in Portland, Avdija has been elite to begin his second campaign in Rip City. He finished Wednesday’s crushing defeat with his first triple-double of the season and third of his career, all of which were recorded since Deni was traded to Portland. No Jrue Holiday or Shaedon Sharpe on the court meant more was expected of Avdija, and he was up to the task. He’s rostered in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues, so he won’t be found on many waiver wires. The question now is whether fantasy managers should sell high or ride the wave.

Back in the starting lineup after sitting out Tuesday’s loss to the Suns, Grant enjoyed his best offensive outing of the season. However, the season-high 33 points were the only highlight. Grant also provided solid value in the rebound and assist categories, a good sign for a player whose production in those categories has been deficient in prior seasons. He’s still providing top-100 value in eight- and nine-cat formats and can benefit from Shaedon Sharpe’s absence if the guard remains sidelined.

Grant, who did not play in Tuesday’s loss to the Suns, is back and will start due to Shaedon Sharpe (calf) being out. The other change is Cissoko, who replaces Kris Murray. Due to the Trail Blazers being without multiple guards, Love logged a season-high 31 minutes on Tuesday. Henderson suffered a torn left hamstring during a workout just before the Trail Blazers opened training camp. While he has progressed in his recovery, the lack of clearance to run, jump or engage in other explosive movements indicates his return to action is not imminent. “I can walk around to spots, but no jumping, no exploding,” Henderson told The Athletic on Tuesday. “I shoot free throws, some ballhandling, but without moving much.” With Jrue Holiday and Blake Wesley also injured, Portland has relied on Shaedon Sharpe, Deni Avdija and Caleb Love to take on playmaking responsibilities. Holiday’s injury is not expected to be long-term, so he’ll assume the starting point guard duties once again when he’s cleared to play.
