Vassell has a Yahoo! ADP of 97, and he’s played to that level thus far. His most significant issue has been foul shooting, with the Spurs’ wing making just 62.5 percent of his attempts. Remove that category from the equation, and Vassell is providing seventh-round per-game value. He’s a career 80.4 percent shooter from the charity stripe, so Vassell should turn things around eventually. The Spurs end Week 2 with a game against the Suns on Sunday.

Wembanyama and his teammates made franchise history on Thursday, becoming the first team to start a regular season with five consecutive wins. He’s lived up to the preseason hype and then some personally, sitting atop the fantasy rankings in eight- and nine-cat formats. Fears bounced back from a mess of a game against the Celtics on Monday to have the best game of his young career against the Nuggets on Wednesday. The 19-year-old point guard had just two points in his first career start against the Celtics earlier this week. While the Pelicans suffered a blowout loss Wednesday, Fears played 30 minutes, had 21 points and six assists, which were all career-highs. There is a lot of potential here, but Fears isn’t consistent enough to trust in fantasy just yet.

Castle has been able to score at a decent rate and provide his fair share of assists this season, but he has had two glaring issues: his free throw percentage and turnovers. Through four games, he is shooting 57.1 percent from the line on 8.8 attempts per game and is averaging 6.3 turnovers per game. Those two issues have tanked his value in category leagues, even though he has been decent in other categories. He’ll look to have a more efficient performance against the Heat on Thursday.

Wemby wasn’t able to provide his usual dominant dose of blocks, and he didn’t attempt a three-pointer, but that didn’t stop him from having an insane night in the box score. He was perfect at the line and only missed one shot, which was great to see after he made less than 50 percent of his shots and missed five free throws on Sunday. It was extremely surprising that New Orleans was unable to take advantage of Boston’s undersized frontcourt in this one, even with Zion Williamson out with a left foot bone bruise, as they wound up being outscored 46-38 in the paint. After shooting 3-of-12 from the field in Friday’s loss to the Pelicans, Harper rebounded fantastically on Sunday. The rookie was highly efficient as a scorer and playmaker, shooting over 50 percent from the field and not committing a turnover. Harper’s ability to run the show efficiently came in handy against the Nets, as starter Stephon Castle (13/6/3) committed five turnovers. Johnson’s fantasy value has been limited due to his inability to consistently provide value outside of points and rebounds. While he had a good afternoon shooting the basketball and was a factor on the glass, the limited assists and steals are why Johnson remains a deep-league option at best. Having totaled 12 points in San Antonio’s first two games, Champagnie contributed a baker’s dozen against the Nets. He certainly has fans within the Spurs organization, and with good reason. He shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc on Sunday, helping to compensate for Harrison Barnes (4/3/1) missing all five of his attempts. Wembanyama’s percentages on the final game day of Week 1 weren’t great, but that doesn’t matter much given the robust stat line. Once again, he filled out the stat sheet, including nine “stocks,” to help the Spurs avoid losing a game they led by as much as 26 before the Nets rallied. Even on nights when his shots aren’t falling at a high rate, Wembanyama will provide elite value because of his abilities as a rebounder and defender. He’s the first player in NBA history to tally at least 100 points and 15 blocks through a team’s first three games. Though there hasn’t been much of an answer for Zion through two games, it hasn’t resulted in any wins for New Orleans. Still, it’s good to see him healthy and available. He’s always dominant when he’s on the floor, so it’s no surprise that he’s been fantastic early on this year, even if his field goal percentage is lower than it has typically been. Wednesday’s game included the top two picks in June’s draft. However, due to his thumb injury and being on a roster with the last two Rookie of the Year winners, Harper flew under the radar in Dallas. He had a solid night shooting the basketball, but the rookie was responsible for twice as many turnovers as assists and landed in foul trouble. While Victor Wembanyama received most of the attention in the aftermath of San Antonio’s 125-92 victory, and with good reason, Castle’s night was encouraging. Starting at point guard for the injured De’Aaron Fox, the second-year guard shot the ball well from the field and was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. If there’s one thing Fears can do at a pro level right now, it’s score. The rookie had a good night shooting the basketball, making 70 percent of his attempts. Unfortunately, Fears did not produce much beyond the points, as he missed his lone three-point attempt. However, he was able to get downhill on multiple occasions. With Fears playing 18 minutes, there was no room for Jose Alvarado in the rotation, with the veteran point guard picking up a DNP-CD. All that was missing from his stat line were blocks and three-pointers, and fantasy managers don’t expect anything from Zion in the latter category.
