Anunoby was initially listed as probable, so his availability doesn’t come as a surprise. He should occupy his typical spot in the starting lineup, where he had 24 points and 14 rebounds in the season opener.

KAT was initially listed as questionable, but just like in the season opener, he’ll play through the quad injury. Coach Mike Brown is starting Miles McBride instead of Ariel Hukporti, so KAT will start at center, giving him a great chance to record another double-double in a matchup against Neemias Queta.

Hart missed the season opener, but he’ll make his season debut in this one. Hart won’t start, but he should still play a significant role, though this isn’t Tom Thibodeau’s Knicks. Hart will still see plenty of minutes, but it will be interesting to see how much Mike Brown utilizes him.

The Knicks have yet to announce the final statuses of Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, as both are game-time decisions. However, it’s being reported that McBride will be part of the starting lineup on Friday. He played well in Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers, making four three-pointers and scoring 15 points in 26 minutes off the bench. Moving into the starting lineup makes Deuce a player worth streaming in deeper leagues, especially if Towns can’t play.

Robinson will miss a second straight game due to “ankle injury management”, which isn’t a great way to start a season. Ariel Hukporti should get another start at center, with Trey Jemison and Guerschon Yabusele playing small roles off the bench.

Ball has appeared in more than 51 games once in five years in the NBA. While there were positives to draw from his opening game performance against the Nets on Wednesday, Ball will have to stay available for the overwhelming majority of a season to really pay off for fantasy managers. The 24-year-old point guard had his skills on display with four threes, eight assists and a steal. Ball also avoided a high-turnover game with just three turnovers.

Kalkbrenner got the start and played 27 minutes in his NBA debut while Mason Plumlee was a DNP-CD. The 23-year-old center put up 10 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks against the Nets on Wednesday while shooting 5-of-6 from the field. Kalkbrenner became the 81st player in NBA history to have a double-double in their debut, according to Hornets PR. He certainly looks like the Hornets starting center to begin the year.

The Knicks’ desire not to have the ball in Jalen Brunson’s hands as much benefits the team’s starting wings, Bridges and OG Anunoby. Both played well against the Cavaliers, with Anunoby leading the team in scoring and Bridges doing so in assists. In fact, all five starters recorded at least two assists, and the Knicks finished with 22 as a team. While he was underwhelming as a fantasy option in his first season with the team, Bridges could be more productive in 2025-26.

Miller’s 2024-25 season was marred by injury with a wrist injury requiring surgery in January. The 22-year-old small forward was a bit of a mixed bag in his first game back on Wednesday. Despite leading the team with 25 points, he was just 2-of-9 from behind the three-point line and didn’t record a single rebound. Miller also had seven assists. He could be in line for a big season with more consistent play.

Towns, not officially declared available for Wednesday’s opener until about an hour before tipoff, landed in early foul trouble. KAT headed to the bench after picking up two fouls in the first four minutes and 33 seconds, but he would not pick up his third until the final minute of the third quarter. Towns finished with a double-double, helping the Knicks compensate for Mitchell Robinson’s (ankle) absence on the boards. Ariel Hukporti (2/5/2/0/1) was active in his 15 minutes on the floor, but the Knicks will need even more rebounding from Towns as they await Robinson’s return.

On a night when Karl-Anthony Towns got into early foul trouble, Anunoby stepped up with an outstanding performance. A factor on both ends of the floor, the Knicks forward benefited from the offensive system implemented by new head coach Mike Brown. Playing at a faster pace allowed the Knicks’ wings to have the ball in their hands more, and their stat lines received welcome boosts. Anunoby had an ADP in the sixties, so those who drafted him may receive significant value if OG can build on Wednesday’s performance.

Brunson had a rough night from beyond the arc, making just one of his nine attempts. However, his ability to get to the foul line boosted the final points tally, with the Knicks star putting up 23 points. Last season, Brunson had six games in which he attempted at least 13 free throws, scoring at least 31 points in each. Given his track record since joining the Knicks, nights like Wednesday will not be the norm for Brunson. He’ll look to bounce back on Friday when New York hosts Boston.

Kalkbrenner or Moussa Diabaté would be Charlotte’s starting center, and the rookie won out for the season opener. Even with the uncertainty during the preseason, both players were worth selecting with a late-round pick in fantasy drafts. Kalkbrenner and Diabaté will play most of the minutes, so there’s no reason to consider Mason Plumlee in fantasy leagues.

With Karl-Anthony Towns (quad) on track to play, the Knicks only have to account for Mitchell Robinson’s absence for opening night. Hukporti will reportedly move into the starting lineup, which makes sense due to the matchup. The Cavaliers start Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, so going with Hukporti instead of guard Miles McBride makes sense. Hukporti can provide some rebounds in that role, but he is not a must-stream player on a 12-game night.

Anunoby is one of many Knicks on the injury report for Wednesday’s opener. However, the probable tag suggests he’ll be cleared to play. He and fellow wing Mikal Bridges are two players who may benefit from being in Mike Brown’s offensive system, as the ball may be in their hands more than last season under Tom Thibodeau. Anunoby finished last season as a top-40 fantasy player and can provide similar production in 2025-26.

Already without Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks could be without three rotation players for Wednesday’s opener. Towns, who is dealing with a strained right quad, did not play in the final two games of the preseason. Guerschon Yabusele started the Knicks’ penultimate preseason game, but Ariel Hukporti is another possibility if KAT cannot play against Cleveland. With Robinson out, it’s possible for Yabusele or Hukporti to start alongside Towns if he can play.

Hart did not participate in Tuesday’s practice and has been down since injuring his back during the Knicks’ preseason opener on October 2. He’s also dealing with a finger injury that was aggravated just before the start of training camp. Hart has progressed to doing some on-court work, including sprinting, so he may not be sidelined for too long. With Mitchell Robinson (load management) also out, this may be where Miles McBride moves into the starting lineup. Another possibility would be Guerschon Yabusele, especially with the Cavaliers boasting “twin towers” Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in the frontcourt.

Robinson has been sidelined recently for what Knicks head coach Mike Brown described as “load management.” The situation is such that the center won’t play on Wednesday. Injuries have been an issue for the 7-footer recently, as he played 59, 31 and 17 games the last three seasons. Karl-Anthony Towns will likely shift to the center position for Wednesday’s opener, while Ariel Hukporti should play rotation minutes off the bench.

Mathews, believed to be in contention for the Knicks’ final available standard contract slot, did not play during Friday’s exhibition loss to the Hornets. Meanwhile, Landry Shamet played 20 minutes off the bench and appears to have solidified his spot on the roster, if not as part of the Knicks’ bench unit. Due to his shooting ability, Mathews should garner interest across the league once he clears waivers.

Hornets head coach Charles Lee alternated starting centers throughout the preseason, with Diabaté making three starts and rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner getting the other two. While Mason Plumlee (three points and three rebounds in 10 minutes) also played rotation minutes during the preseason, most of the minutes went to either Diabaté or Kalkbrenner (6/1/2/0/1 in 15 minutes). Who starts Wednesday’s regular-season opener against the Nets remains to be seen. Still, Diabaté and Kalkbrenner may get most of the playing time based on the breakdown of the preseason minutes.

With LaMelo Ball getting the night off, Sexton served as the Hornets’ starting point guard on Friday. The results were mixed. While he did record a 20-point double-double, Sexton was also responsible for nine of the Hornets’ 21 turnovers. That isn’t a big deal for managers either punting turnovers or competing in eight-cat formats, but that’s an area Sexton will need to clean up. Especially when considering LaMelo’s injury history, there may be times during the season when the Hornets need Sexton to take on more playmaking responsibilities.

Bridges, who only logged 18 minutes on Friday, finishes his preseason with a flourish. The Hornets forward scored 20 points or more in his final three games while shooting 26-of-47 from the field. While he isn’t a lock to provide top-50 value, due mainly to inconsistent defensive production, Bridges should be a relatively safe middle-round option in standard leagues. Based on his Yahoo! ADP of 63, it’s apparent that many fantasy managers view him similarly.

With three starters, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby and Mitchell Robinson, unavailable, Bridges saw even more of the basketball than he did during the Knicks’ other preseason games. Also of note was his grabbing five offensive rebounds and picking up the slack for the absent Robinson. While Bridges’ fantasy production underwhelmed last season, he’s yet to miss a game in his NBA career and may benefit from the head coaching change. Don’t be surprised if Bridges rebounds and has a good 2025-26.

Friday night’s preseason finale was a big deal for Shamet, and it may have offered a clue regarding the Knicks’ approach to their final available roster spots. While Shamet played 20 minutes off the bench, neither Garrison Mathews nor Pacôme Dadiet saw any action. Dadiet was the subject of trade rumors earlier this preseason, but that was during a time when Malcolm Brogdon was still on the roster. With Brogdon announcing his retirement earlier this week, Dadiet’s odds of being traded to free up a spot for another veteran may have decreased. If so, that may be bad news for Mathews, who was also in the mix for one of those final spots.

While the six turnovers may have been too high for Brunson’s liking, the overall performance was a sign that he’s ready for the regular season. The Knicks played Friday’s game without four key contributors, so the game did not represent the “dress rehearsal” that many teams prefer for their final preseason action. Brunson logged 34 minutes, one minute less than his average since joining the Knicks in 2022. Once the Knicks’ rotation is whole, Brunson may have the ball in his hands a little less than in the past, but he’ll remain the first option on offense.

Friday’s preseason finale will not be a dress rehearsal for the Knicks, who are without multiple rotation players. Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson are all out, with the latter sitting for injury management reasons. For their final exhibition game, the Hornets will feature a combination of veteran and youthful players in their opening lineup. Bridges scored a total of 15 points over his first two preseason games but has surpassed 20 in each of his last two. He was joined by LaMelo Ball (23) and Brandon Miller (21) in scoring at least 20 points. If all three are able to score at this rate, the Hornets will have a chance to push for a postseason spot. This was a strong night for Bridges, but he likely won’t shoot quite this well during the regular season often.

Ryan Kalkbrenner remained in the starting unit at center for Charlotte in this game, but Diabate was able to make a bigger impact off the bench. The position battle between Kalkbrenner, Diabate and Mason Plumlee is a vital one for fantasy hoops; if Kalkbrenner or Diabate gets the nod, either will be worth taking at the end of drafts. However, Plumlee won’t be worth a selection, even if he plays a significant role.

Dadiet started hot Monday night, hitting three-pointers on consecutive possessions within the game’s first 95 seconds. Unfortunately, those would be the only shots the second-year wing would hit, as he finished 2-of-7 from the field. The good news is that Dadiet was active on the boards, but this was hardly the showcase that could drum up trade interest across the league. Unless Dadiet is moved to a team with room in its rotation for a developmental project, he’s unlikely to impact fantasy basketball this season.

Yabusele received the starting nod on Monday, as the Knicks rested their starters, including Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson. He was solid in his 23 minutes, providing the shooting and physicality the team expects of the 2016 first-round pick. While there may be times during the season when Yabusele has streaming value, especially if the Knicks look to rest Robinson occasionally, he is not a must-draft player.

The Knicks resting their starters on Monday did not result in Kolek moving into the starting lineup, as head coach Mike Brown went with Malcolm Brogdon (4/2/3/1 in 18 minutes). However, the second-year guard took advantage of his opportunities, leading the Knicks in points and assists while shooting over 50 percent from the field. During the preseason, the assumption has been that the Knicks will keep two veterans, with Brogdon and Landry Shamet (DNP-illness on Monday) considered the favorites. However, Kolek, who is on a guaranteed contract, can make the decision difficult for the Knicks by building on Monday’s performance.

With the preseason ending on Friday and rosters needing to be finalized over the weekend, the Knicks are using Monday’s game as an opportunity to evaluate the players fighting for spots. None of the projected starters will play, and reserves Landry Shamet and Ariel Hukporti are out due to illness. Of the players starting on Monday, Brogdon and Dadiet are the ones to watch. The former is looking to lock down a roster spot, and if the Knicks keep two veterans, Dadiet’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors to make room.

Hornets head coach Charles Lee has not settled on a starting center, and the competition may run for the preseason. However, after Moussa Diabaté started the first two preseason games, Kalkbrenner got his shot Saturday night. And the second-round pick out of Creighton played well, not missing a shot from the field while recording a double-double in 25 minutes. Diabaté (6/2/1) played 12 minutes and veteran Mason Plumlee (zero points, four rebounds) played 11 in Saturday’s victory. Even if Kalkbrenner isn’t the starter when the regular season begins, he’ll likely be given every opportunity to earn the job. He’s definitely a rookie worth selecting in redraft leagues.

Sexton came off the bench and got to work quickly on the offensive end against the Thunder. Largely due to his three-point production, the veteran guard finished as one of five Charlotte players to score in double figures. He didn’t have much of an impact in any other categories on Thursday, but still displayed how he could be useful for the Hornets during the 2025-26 season. Ball ramped up his minutes in his second preseason game. After logging 15 minutes on Sunday, he played 25 in Thursday’s contest, where he tied a team-high in made threes. As a high-usage guard, Ball will have nights when he finishes with high turnover totals, as was the case on Thursday. McBride’s role is unlikely to change much, even with the new head coach, as he’s being asked to provide energy and offense off the bench. However, during his first rotation on Thursday, McBride spent some time at point guard, sharing the backcourt with Jordan Clarkson (10/3/3). Malcolm Brogdon did not play until the second half; the same could be said for Tyler Kolek. To say McBride has been a combo guard during his first four seasons would be a stretch; he was asked to do minimal playmaking for others. If that changes under Mike Brown and Deuce shows himself capable of handling those responsibilities, his numbers may benefit.
