Brunson took over this game early, and he entered halftime with 26 points. He wasn’t as dominant in the second half, but he did enough to help the Knicks advance to the semifinals of the NBA Cup. This was Brunson’s third straight game with at least 30 points, and he’ll look to keep that going against the Magic in Las Vegas on Saturday, with a chance to advance to the NBA Cup championship on Monday.

Hart simply couldn’t miss in this game. This was just his third 20-point game of the season, and he has shot at least 60 percent from the floor in each of those. All of them have come since Nov. 24, which is when he moved into the starting lineup. Hart’s return to the starting lineup was also a return to fantasy dominance for him. As long as that doesn’t change, Hart will be a fantasy stud.

After missing Sunday’s win over the Magic with a calf injury, Towns returned to the lineup for the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup. It wasn’t a great offensive performance, but he dominated the glass in his 31 minutes. Towns missed Sunday’s game against Orlando, which allowed Mitchell Robinson to move into the starting unit. He’ll head back to the bench with Towns back. KAT was able to practice on Monday, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he’ll be available with a trip to Las Vegas on the line.

McBride suffered a sprained left ankle during Sunday’s win over the Magic and did not return. If the Knicks advance to the NBA Cup semifinals with a victory on Tuesday, they would be off until Saturday. No McBride means the Knicks will need more consistency from Jordan Clarkson, and he is not worth the risk in most fantasy leagues.

Towns’ status for Tuesday’s game against Toronto is still up in the air, but his return to practice is a good sign. On Sunday, Mitchell Robinson started and played a season-high 25 minutes, while Ariel Hukporti filled the 23 minutes that Robinson was on the bench. Towns’ return would likely push Robinson to the bench and Hukporti back out of the rotation.

McNeeley enjoyed his best outing of the season on Sunday, recording new highs in points and three-pointers. The rookie wing hit three triples in the first half, giving the Hornets a welcome spark off the bench. Unfortunately, McNeeley suffered a left quad contusion during the second half, spending some time on the sideline with a heating pad on his thigh. The Hornets won’t play again until Friday; hopefully, that’s enough time for McNeeley to get back to full strength.

With LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton unavailable due to injury, Bridges spent more time on the ball as a playmaker on Sunday. That factored into him dishing out a season-high eight assists, finishing two helpers and a rebound shy of a triple-double. Sunday’s performance occurred at a good time for Bridges and those who have him rostered, as he’s ranked outside the top-200 in nine-cat per-game value over the past two weeks. He’ll look to build on Sunday’s showing in Week 8, with the Hornets playing on Friday and Sunday.

Miller had a rough night inside the arc, making just one of his nine two-point attempts. However, a respectable 40 percent mark from three boosted his point total, and he did finish with a complete stat line. The five assists were the most he’s recorded in a game since the season opener, when Miller dished out seven helpers against the Nets. Staying healthy has been an issue for him this season, so the extra time off due to the NBA Cup may benefit Miller. Charlotte plays games on Friday and Sunday during Week 8.

With the Hornets being down multiple point guards, most notably starter LaMelo Ball, Simpson made his first start of the season on Sunday. While he finished with a respectable stat line, the assist category was lacking. Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges spent more time on the ball, which helped them combine to dish out 13 assists. Charlotte does not play its first game of Week 8 until Friday, so there isn’t much need to add Simpson after his showing on Sunday.

The Hornets are without LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton for Sunday’s game, so Simpson has received the starting nod. While his season-long production has not made him worth the risk in fantasy leagues, the opportunity to start raises Simpson’s fantasy ceiling. The other four starters are unchanged, and Kalkbrenner’s playing time may increase with Moussa Diabaté unavailable.

McBride injured his left ankle during Sunday’s win over the Magic, with Orlando guard Desmond Bane landing on the Knicks guard’s leg after attempting to block his layup attempt. McBride did not return after exiting, and he’ll undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. If he misses time, the Knicks will have to rely more on Jordan Clarkson for scoring off the bench, and inconsistency has been an issue for him this season.

Robinson filled in for Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) and made the most of his opportunity. The big man led all players in rebounds and did what he normally does, providing efficient shooting with just one turnover. He corralled eight offensive boards, helping New York get some second-chance looks in the close victory. Robinson should remain a starter until KAT is cleared to return.

Brunson hit 10-of-23 shots from the floor and managed to convert only one of his seven three-point attempts. His 9-of-12 mark from the charity stripe, however, buoyed his scoring. It was only a two-game absence for Miller, but it was good to see him back on the floor since he has already missed so much time this season after missing most of last season. It wasn’t a spectacular first game back, but he was able to play 30 minutes in a blowout win over the Raptors. Salaün spent most of November in the G League but returned to the Hornets for the last three games. During that stretch, he has averaged 14.7 points and 3.0 three-pointers per game. It’s an incredible hot stretch for Salaün, which is great to see after many have already labeled the 20-year-old a bust. Against the Knicks on Wednesday, Hornets coach Charles Lee made the switch to bump Kalkbrenner to the bench and start Moussa Diabaté. That only lasted one game and was likely to have a better matchup against Karl-Anthony Towns. LaMelo just can’t seem to keep his ankles healthy. He dealt with a right ankle injury in November, and now it’s the left ankle that will keep him sidelined for at least the remainder of Friday’s showdown. Kalkbrenner did not start Wednesday’s game, with Moussa Diabaté (two points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal in 20 minutes) replacing him in the starting lineup. While the rookie still played more minutes, logging 25, his night ended prematurely due to a sprained left ankle. As a result, another start could be in the cards for Diabaté. As for who would round out the rotation if Kalkbrenner misses time, Tidjane Salaün (13 points, four rebounds, one steal and three three-pointers) was the choice to replace Diabaté after he picked up two early fouls, not Kalkbrenner.

There must be something about the Knicks that doesn’t agree with Knueppel, as he has struggled from three in both meetings. After missing all seven of his attempts in a November 26 loss to New York, he made one of his six attempts on Wednesday. Fantasy managers did receive solid value in the rebound and assist categories, but the rookie’s field-goal percentage took a hit. Ball got going offensively after halftime, hitting four of his five three-pointers. The final stat line was excellent for those who have him rostered, but the questions about the Hornets’ guard’s ability to impact winning will persist. While he didn’t shoot the ball as well as he did in Tuesday’s loss to the Celtics, Hart flirted with a triple-double against the Hornets. After a slow start to the season, Hart is shooting 49.7 percent from the field, and he’s shot 14-of-29 from three over his last five games. Coming off his worst performance of the season, Brunson rebounded nicely on Wednesday. Given his play since arriving in New York and Charlotte’s porous defense, that was unsurprising. Hart has scored at least 19 points in four straight games, and the overall value has made him one of the best options in fantasy basketball over this period.
