Tyson was a first-round pick last summer, but he wasn’t able to carve out a role on a talented Cavs team. That isn’t an indictment of his talent since Cleveland finished with the best record in the East. He took advantage of the opportunity to play a significant role in this game and had the best game of his young career. Tyson won’t be a factor for them during the postseason, but he has a bright future in the league.

Thompson has been an elite rebounder for his entire career, but it has been a few years since he played enough to be relevant in fantasy basketball. However, he got the chance in this game and took advantage. His 20 rebounds were the most he has had in a game since 2020 when he grabbed a career-best 22 boards. It was fun to see Thompson play this well, but he won’t see more than a few minutes during the postseason.

Despite the Knicks securing the third seed in the East on Friday, McBride played 30 minutes as Josh Hart’s replacement in the starting lineup in Brooklyn. He had a good afternoon for fantasy managers in active leagues, providing solid value in points, rebounds, assists, steals and three-pointers. McBride’s role will be different when the playoffs begin next weekend, but his scoring ability will be critical off the bench.

As is usually the case for the veteran backup, it was an adventure, but he made big plays on both ends of the court down the stretch to get New York its 51st win. With Mikal Bridges checking out six seconds into Sunday’s game, Shamet became a primary scoring option on Sunday. He made the most of his opportunity, shooting 7-of-13 from three and recording a season-high point total. Shamet shot 14-of-27 from three in his final three games of the season. While the Knicks did not have much on the line, the recent run could ensure that Shamet plays rotation minutes during the first-round series against Detroit. Game 1 will be on Saturday or Sunday.

Shamet has not been a factor in fantasy basketball, but he’s made at least one three-pointer in 12 straight games. The five he hit on Friday were the most in a game for the Knicks wing since April 1, when Shamet knocked down six in a win over the 76ers. With Miles McBride (12/1/1/1 with three three-pointers in 18 minutes) being New York’s best bench scorer, Shamet’s production will be needed in the playoffs. Despite Friday’s loss, the Knicks clinched the three-seed due to Indiana’s loss to Orlando. They’ll face Detroit in the first round, which begins next weekend.

That doesn’t take away the sting of blowing a 23-point lead, but New York can take some solace in Brunson looking much sharper than he did in Thursday’s loss to the Pistons. However, while he shot over 50 percent from the field, he only had two assists on the night. Mikal Bridges (17/2/8/1 with one three-pointer) was the more productive playmaker against the Cavaliers, but the Knicks will need Brunson to do a bit more in setting up his teammates during the postseason. New York’s regular-season finale against the Nets may be seen as an opportunity to rest the starters before their first-round matchup with Detroit. If so, Brunson won’t help fantasy managers in active leagues.

Despite having secured the East’s top seed for the playoffs, the Cavaliers went all-out with their four available starters on Friday. Mobley, who did not play in Thursday’s loss to the Pacers, logged 35 minutes and recorded his 36th double-double in the comeback win over New York. He finished the 2023-24 campaign with 22 double-doubles and has benefitted from the Cavaliers making him more of an offensive focal point. Cleveland ends its regular season on Sunday against the Pacers; we’ll see how much Mobley and the other starters play.

Strus’s fantasy value is limited to that of a specialist since he shares the court with four standouts ahead of him in the offensive pecking order. As he did in Cleveland’s win at Madison Square Garden on October 28, Garland took over during the fourth quarter on Friday. The All-Star point guard shot 6-of-6 from the field in the final frame, with five of the makes occurring in the restricted area. Garland’s charge helped Cleveland complete their rally from a 23-point deficit to win a game that had no impact on their seeding for the upcoming playoffs. With Sunday’s opponent, Indiana, also locked into its seed, fantasy managers should not expect to see Garland playing 30-plus minutes in the regular-season finale.

Outside of Chicago’s Coby White, not many players have been as hot as Anunoby has been recently. He’s scored 23 points or more in 10 straight games, including three 30-point outings. Anunoby was rolling during the third quarter of Sunday’s victory, scoring 19 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field. His hot streak was the perfect time for Anunoby managers whose leagues ended on Sunday. For those whose leagues will be active during Week 23, the Knicks play four games, beginning with the Celtics on Tuesday.

Brunson returned to the Knicks’ lineup on Sunday after a 15-game absence. Unsurprisingly, there was some rust early on. Brunson would score 10 of his 14 points after halftime as the Knicks moved one step closer to locking up the three-seed in the East. Following the game, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said that Brunson was not under any restrictions, but the team trainer watched him closely throughout the game. Also returning on Sunday was Miles McBride (groin), who played 16 minutes and finished with eight points, two assists, two steals and two three-pointers. The Knicks play four games during Week 23, starting with the Celtics on Tuesday.

Mobley’s tour de force season continued Friday as he had a huge game against the Spurs. The 23-year-old center had 25 points on just 13 shots including four made three-pointers. Mobley also grabbed 12 boards and dished out five assists. He also showed up on defense with a steal and three blocks. It was quite a game for Mobley, who has been a top-30 fantasy player over the last three weeks.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Okeke will fill Cleveland’s open roster spot. Okeke recently spent time on a 10-day deal with the 76ers, where he made six appearances and three starts.
