Mitchell will play in Wednesday’s game after being a late addition to the Cavaliers’ injury report. However, head coach Kenny Atkinson said during his pregame availability that he plans to go deep into his bench, potentially a sign that Mitchell won’t take on his usual workload. He should still be inserted into lineups, but he isn’t guaranteed to reach his average of 33 minutes per game.

Mitchell is a late addition to the injury report for Wednesday’s game, which generally does not bode well for a player’s availability. With Sam Merrill (hip) already out, the Cavaliers could start a backcourt of Craig Porter Jr. and Jaylon Tyson. Given Cleveland’s lack of options in this scenario, both would be worth streaming in deep leagues.

With Miles McBride (personal) unavailable, Shamet moved into the starting lineup on Tuesday. He made good use of his opportunity, shooting 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and joining Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges in double figures. Shamet totaled 12 points and 44 minutes in New York’s first three games, making dismissing Tuesday as an outlier easy. However, if McBride can’t rejoin the team for Friday’s game against the Bulls in Chicago, that could be another matchup in which Mike Brown decides to start Shamet rather than Ariel Hukporti (three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 10 minutes).

Bridges has scored 20 points or more in consecutive games and seems more comfortable with Mike Brown’s offensive system than he did playing for Tom Thibodeau last season. Bridges finished Tuesday’s win with his first double-double of the season and matched his season-high in assists. While he may not sustain the top-15 value he’s currently providing, Bridges is well-positioned to bounce back after an uneven 2024-25.

On a night when Karl-Anthony Towns (8/12/1/2/1) and OG Anunoby (9/6/4/1/1 with one three-pointer) combined for 17 points on 5-of-23 shooting, Brunson did what he could to carry the Knicks offensively. He’s scored 31 points or more in three straight games, shooting 50 percent or better in each. There was an injury scare during the fourth quarter, as Brunson slipped and appeared to tweak his groin on two separate occasions. He did close out the game, but that’s something to be mindful of in the lead-up to the Knicks’ NBA Cup matchup with the Bulls on Friday.

Mitchell has gotten off to a scorching hot start to the year, having now scored at least 30 points in three of Cleveland’s four games. He didn’t contribute much value in other categories in this game, which was disappointing, but he didn’t need to. The Cavs were in full control for most of this game. Mitchell will look to stay hot against Boston on Wednesday to try and help Cleveland start the year 4-1.

Mobley has been filling up the stat sheet this season. He hasn’t been able to shoot the ball efficiently, but he made at least 50 percent of his shot attempts for the first time this season in Monday’s win. He was also able to record his first double-double of the season, and he has hit at least one triple in every game this year. Mobley has taken major strides to start this year, and when his shot starts falling again, he’ll be able to push for first-round production.

Allen’s usage has flip-flopped each game this year; every other game, he has scored at least 20 points. However, the big man still has yet to record a double-double this season, though if this game was closer, he may have played long enough to reach that mark. Allen will continue to be one of the more reliable players in fantasy basketball throughout the year. Next up is a trip to Boston, where a matchup against Neemias Queta should provide Allen an opportunity to get a double-double.

Unsurprisingly, Ball will not play in Monday’s game after logging 23 minutes off the bench in Sunday’s win over the Bucks. Craig Porter Jr. should assume the backup point guard responsibilities, boosting his playing time. Also, rookie Tyrese Proctor could re-enter the rotation after picking up a DNP-CD on Sunday. Neither player qualifies as a must-stream option, especially on an 11-game night.

After missing the first two games due to a knee injury suffered during the preseason, Hunter made his season debut against the Bucks as part of the starting lineup. He did not provide any defensive stats, and the assists were limited, which is why Hunter is not a popular option for fantasy managers despite being a starter. Rostered in 20 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he should remain in that role until Max Strus returns from offseason foot surgery. Hunter is only worth a look in deep leagues, so that rostered percentage should not change much following Sunday’s performance.

Mobley has been consistent on the glass thus far, grabbing eight rebounds in his first three games. However, the scoring output has fluctuated, with the Cavaliers’ center/forward’s 13-point effort against the Nets sandwiched between solid performances against the Knicks and Bucks. On Sunday, Mobley earned 12 free throws, which boosted the final point tally, as part of a complete stat line. He’ll look to do more of the same when Cleveland begins a four-game Week 2 in Detroit on Monday.

Allen has gotten off to a slow start offensively, at least against the teams with postseason ambitions. While he did score 22 points in Friday’s win over the Nets, the Cavaliers’ starting center totaled 12 in games against the Knicks and Bucks. However, Allen’s 11 boards on Sunday matched his total from the first two games. While his ceiling makes Allen a middle-round player in standard leagues, especially with Cleveland continuing to emphasize Evan Mobley, he still offers a safe floor.

After scoring 31 and 35 points in his first two games of the season, Mitchell cooled down in Sunday’s home opener. However, while the percentages weren’t the best, he still finished a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. Cleveland plays four games during Week 2, starting with the Pistons on Monday.

While Sunday’s performance was his first this season with at least 20 points, Bridges has gotten off to a much better start than last season. The Knicks wing has shot 50 percent or better in all three games while totaling 16 rebounds, 12 assists, three blocks, five steals and six three-pointers. A combination of being more comfortable with his teammates and the offensive system implemented by Mike Brown has been a factor. The Knicks play three games during Week 2, starting with the Bucks on Tuesday.

While he was whistled for five fouls, Towns’ more significant issue on Sunday was his shot. The Knicks’ forward/center shot 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, including missing all five of his attempts in the first three quarters. On a night when the Knicks shot 38.8 percent from the field, Brunson was one of the few who managed to get untracked offensively. The 30-year-old shooting guard struggled mightily from the field scoring just two points on eight shots. Hart more than made up for it by grabbing 14 rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. In the first game of his second stint with the Cavaliers, Nance provided good minutes off the bench in Wednesday’s defeat. The veteran forward/center made both three-point attempts and was solid on the boards. Only Donovan Mitchell put up more shots on Wednesday night than the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. Mobley finished with a robust stat line that included four “stocks” and four three-pointers. Unfortunately for Ball, he’s going to be on minutes restriction due to his injury history to begin the season. With Darius Garland (toe) possibly unavailable to start the year, Ball is an option to pick up the slack with 20 minutes off the bench at a time. While the minutes restriction undoubtedly caps Ball’s fantasy upside, the Cavaliers’ offense is good enough for him to produce. He showed as much by nearly recording a double-double in 20 minutes against the Pistons on Tuesday. Ball is a late-round flyer at best in fantasy basketball drafts.
