While Cunningham was responsible for eight turnovers, the overall stat line should help compensate for that. Over the past month, the Pistons’ point guard has been a top-10 player in eight-cat formats, according to Basketball Monster. Cunningham has been included in early Most Valuable Player conversations, and with good reason. He’s been a highly productive lead option on the team with the league’s best record, and some of the other expected contenders may not be eligible due to the 65-game requirement when it’s time to vote.

The Pistons’ two All-Stars did what players of their caliber are expected to do, with Duren and Cade Cunningham combining to score 58 points. Both recorded double-doubles, with the former notching his 27th of the season. Since returning from his two-game suspension, Duren has averaged 26.7 points, 14.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 68 percent from the field. The Pistons end Week 18 with games on Friday and Sunday against the Cavaliers and Magic.

The good news for fantasy managers is that Towns didn’t miss a shot from the field. However, he attempted only five shots and matched that with five turnovers. Give Cleveland credit for its work on the defensive end, but this was a disappointing effort from KAT. While Towns has probably been too much of a lightning rod this season, there are still nights when he puts forth maddening performances like the one he produced in Cleveland. He and the Knicks will look to bounce back on Friday in Milwaukee.

The good news for category league managers is that Bridges recorded a complete stat line on Tuesday. However, he shot 5-of-14 from inside the arc, including a 1-of-6 effort during a third quarter in which the Knicks scored 11 points. Bridges doesn’t need to be a prolific scorer to provide reliable fantasy value, but it would help fantasy managers if he were more consistent on that end of the floor. That can also be said of OG Anunoby (five points, three rebounds, two assists, one block and one three-pointer), who shot 2-of-9 from the field on Tuesday.

Brunson and the Knicks had a rough night, with things getting especially bad during the third quarter. As a team, New York scored 11 points, and Brunson shot 0-of-5 from the field while scoring just one point. While he’s shot 44.3 percent from the field over the past week, Brunson’s fantasy value has taken a hit, regardless of league format. The Knicks play two more games in Week 18, starting with the Bucks on Friday.

Thompson wasn’t having the greatest game, but he was curiously benched in the second half of Monday’s loss to the Spurs. The 23-year-old small forward finished with eight points in just 18 minutes. After the game, Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said he simply preferred to play Ron Holland. It’s difficult to argue with the results as Holland had 15 points, 11 rebounds, one block and one steal in 26 minutes off the bench. This will certainly be a situation for Thompson’s fantasy managers to monitor, starting with the Pistons’ next game Wednesday against the Thunder.

While the Pistons struggled as a whole in Monday’s 11-point loss to the Spurs, Duren managed to have a great fantasy game. The 22-year-old center had 25 points on 13 field goal attempts and 14 rebounds. He’s provided second-round per game value over the last two weeks. Duren and the Pistons will take on the Thunder at home on Wednesday.

Cunningham has been second overall in per game value over the last two weeks. The Pistons’ next game is Wednesday against the Thunder.

Bridges got off to a slow start against the Bulls, shooting 1-of-5 from beyond the arc in the first three quarters. However, he hit a critical three-pointer with 26.6 seconds remaining to extend New York’s lead to six and essentially end the game. The good news for fantasy managers is that Bridges provided solid value in the assist, steal and blocked shot categories. Over the last month, his fantasy value has slipped due to a decrease in three-point production, but Bridges remains a valuable option in category leagues.

Brunson didn’t score much in Chicago, but he did dish out 9 assists. The last was on a Mikal Bridges three-pointer with 26.6 seconds remaining that extended New York’s lead to six. Brunson, who made one of his six three-point attempts, didn’t shoot the ball efficiently, but he was good at making plays for others. The Knicks begin a three-game Week 18 on Tuesday against Cleveland in what will be a vital game for tiebreaker purposes.

For the second straight night, Towns picked up the slack offensively when some of his Knicks teammates could not get going offensively. Having scored at least 21 points in five straight, KAT’s 28 on Sunday were the most in a game for him since he dropped 37 on the Hawks on December 27. The Knicks play three games in Week 18, starting with a critical matchup with the new-look Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Duren has been one of the most improved players in the entire league this season, making a significant leap from a scoring standpoint, averaging 17.8 points through 45 games after mustering just 11.8 per-game last year. The 22-year-old big man topped the 20-point mark for the 15th time this season, accomplishing the feat in four of his last seven games since January 29. The Pistons will attempt to keep their win streak alive when they face the Spurs on Monday before closing out a busy four-game week with showdowns against the Thunder, Cavaliers and Magic.

On the heels of a sublime 42-point effort against the Knicks earlier this week, Cunningham served as more of a facilitator against the free-falling Bulls, dishing out double-digit assists for the second straight contest. Detroit didn’t need to lean on him down the home stretch as they pulled away for a relatively easy win. The 24-year-old superstar has paced the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons with 30.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 10.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks over his last four games. Simply put, he’s one of the most impactful all-around contributors in the entire fantasy landscape.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown said before Saturday’s win over the Rockets that he did not expect Robinson to play in Chicago, an unsurprising statement given how the center’s availability has been handled this season. Robinson played 18 minutes on Saturday, finishing with six points and four rebounds. His absence on Sunday frees up minutes for Ariel Hukporti and possibly Jeremy Sochan as well.

The Rockets did an excellent job of keeping Brunson under wraps for the first three quarters, with the Knicks point guard shooting 2-of-8 from the field. Brunson came to life in the fourth, making all four of his shots to help New York erase a deficit that grew to as large as 18 points. He also added three more charges drawn to his league-high tally, showing off his skill as a “below-the-rim rim protector.” Brunson and the Knicks play once more in Week 17, as they visit the Bulls on Sunday.

Anunoby had a brutal night in his first game back from a toe injury, scoring eight points on 3-of-13 shooting in Thursday’s loss to the Pistons. He was much sharper against the Rockets, shooting 50 percent from the field while also recording four steals. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns may be the headliners, but the Knicks are at their best when Anunoby is aggressive and efficient as a scorer. He’ll look to end Week 17 on a high note when the Knicks visit the Bulls on Sunday.

On a night when Jalen Brunson didn’t get going offensively until the fourth quarter, Towns shot 7-of-10 from the field in the first three quarters. KAT was more engaged from the start than he was in Thursday’s loss to the Pistons, a welcome step forward for the 7-footer. Sunday’s matchup with the Bulls should be a good one for Towns and those who have him rostered, but only if he’s aggressive from the start.

Signed to a contract for the rest of the season at the All-Star break, Sochan made his Knicks’ debut on Thursday. And those who were concerned that his playing time would come at Mohamed Diawara’s (two rebounds, one assist and one steal) expense were proven right, as the rookie was limited to nine minutes. Neither Sochan nor Diawara stands to affect fantasy basketball, but the hope is that one (or both) can provide some defense on the wings. That didn’t happen against the Pistons, who completed their sweep of the regular-season series.

Anunoby was back in the Knicks’ lineup after a four-game absence, and he certainly looked rusty from beyond the arc. The Knicks’ wing shot 1-of-8 from deep, and even worse for fantasy managers was the lack of rebounds and assists. Anunoby matched his career-high with four blocked shots, but fantasy managers will hope for better from him when the Knicks host the Rockets on Saturday.

Towns put up another double-double on Thursday, but he was unable to grab control of the paint in a game that the Pistons played without Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart due to suspension. KAT attempted only three shots in the first half, and while he was more involved offensively in the second half, the lackluster defense proved problematic. Towns and the Knicks will look to bounce back in games against the Rockets (Saturday) and Bulls (Sunday) to end Week 17.

While Brunson shot the ball far better on Thursday than he did in either of the Knicks’ first two losses to the Pistons, that doesn’t tell the entire story. The efficient scoring wasn’t matched in the playmaking department, as Brunson was responsible for six of the Knicks’ 12 turnovers. While the Knicks won’t have to see the Pistons again during the regular season, how they lost the three meetings is a concern should the teams meet in the playoffs.

Harris wasn’t efficient from the field as he scored just 11 points on 16 field goal attempts, going 4-of-16. The 33-year-old power forward cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds, which helped the Pistons given the suspensions to Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart. Harris continues to be just solid in his role while the Pistons’ overall depth has capped his ceiling.

With Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart suspended, the Pistons entered Madison Square Garden as underdogs Thursday night. Shorthanded or otherwise, Cunningham proceeded to carry Detroit to a 15-point victory, its third of the season over the Knicks. The 24-year-old point guard was aggressive and never let up, dropping 42 points and 13 assists on New York in the process. He’s provided second-round per game value this season, according to Basketball Monster.

Cunningham remained hot to help Detroit win a third straight game to enter the All-Star break. He was able to match his season high for three-pointers while also shooting efficiently from the floor. Cunningham’s excellent season has Detroit atop the Eastern conference entering the break, and he’ll continue to be elite in fantasy basketball for the rest of the season.

Reed got the starting nod with both Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart suspended for this game. He made an immediate impact on this game, contributing 16 points and three stocks in the first quarter without missing a shot in just the first quarter. He cooled off as the game progressed, but he was still incredibly productive. Stewart has six games left on his suspension, while Duren will only be sidelined for one more, which will be on Feb. 19 against the Knicks. Reed should get one more start and then play an increased role off the bench until Stewart returns.

The emotions of playing his first Knicks home game may have gotten the best of Alvarado in Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers. There were no such issues for the Brooklyn native on Wednesday, as he took over during the third and fourth quarters. Alvarado shot 8-of-13 from beyond the arc, dropping 26 points while showing why he’s nicknamed “Grand Theft Alvarado” with the five steals. And he recorded that stat line in just 19 minutes. With Miles McBride (core) possibly out until the postseason, Alvarado isn’t a bad pickup in deep leagues, even if nights like Wednesday won’t become the norm.

While Bridges’ fantasy value has slipped some recently, with him providing seventh-round value over the past two weeks, he remains ranked safely within the top-50 in season-long value. The Knicks play three games after the All-Star break, starting with the Pistons on February 19.
