The Wolves will use their expected regular-season starting lineup on Thursday in their second-to-last game of the preseason. The unit last started against the Pacers earlier this preseason in a 135-134 OT loss, with neither starter playing more than 19 minutes. With their finale being tomorrow on the second night of a back-to-back, there’s a chance the main rotation players could see some extended run against the Bulls on Thursday.

While Juzang agreed to a one-year deal with the Timberwolves in August, his contract is non-guaranteed. So, every positive performance has added meaning for the guard, who had another good shooting night. Juzang shot 3-of-6 from beyond the arc against Guangzhou, less than a week after knocking down six triples against the Pacers. Last season, the Timberwolves were ranked in the top five in three-point makes and attempts per game, and fourth in three-point percentage. With Minnesota having one open roster spot, Juzang is doing all he can to earn that opportunity.

Initially expected to miss two weeks after suffering a lacerated right fifth finger, Miller returned a few days ahead of schedule. He played well against the Loong-Lions, leading the Timberwolves in rebounds and shooting 75 percent from the field. The issue for Miller heading into the regular season is that Minnesota’s frontcourt depth will make it difficult for him to earn consistent rotation minutes.

While Mike Conley, who did not play on Monday, remains the Timberwolves’ starting point guard, Dillingham should have more opportunities to contribute than he did as a rookie. While Guangzhou was overmatched, the second-year guard commanding the floor as he did was encouraging. Dillingham was efficient as a scorer and playmaker, shooting well over 50 percent from the field and committing just one turnover. Fellow second-year guard Terrence Shannon Jr. (15/2/4 with four three-pointers) offers a higher upside for this season, especially with Nickeil Alexander-Walker out of the picture, but Dillingham won’t lack opportunities.

Dadiet started hot Monday night, hitting three-pointers on consecutive possessions within the game’s first 95 seconds. Unfortunately, those would be the only shots the second-year wing would hit, as he finished 2-of-7 from the field. The good news is that Dadiet was active on the boards, but this was hardly the showcase that could drum up trade interest across the league. Unless Dadiet is moved to a team with room in its rotation for a developmental project, he’s unlikely to impact fantasy basketball this season.

Yabusele received the starting nod on Monday, as the Knicks rested their starters, including Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson. He was solid in his 23 minutes, providing the shooting and physicality the team expects of the 2016 first-round pick. While there may be times during the season when Yabusele has streaming value, especially if the Knicks look to rest Robinson occasionally, he is not a must-draft player.

The Knicks resting their starters on Monday did not result in Kolek moving into the starting lineup, as head coach Mike Brown went with Malcolm Brogdon (4/2/3/1 in 18 minutes). However, the second-year guard took advantage of his opportunities, leading the Knicks in points and assists while shooting over 50 percent from the field. During the preseason, the assumption has been that the Knicks will keep two veterans, with Brogdon and Landry Shamet (DNP-illness on Monday) considered the favorites. However, Kolek, who is on a guaranteed contract, can make the decision difficult for the Knicks by building on Monday’s performance.

The Timberwolves are resting their starters for Monday’s exhibition. So, the younger players will have opportunities to show that they should be in the regular-season rotation or that they deserve to be on the opening night roster. Dillingham, Shannon and Beringer have the best chances of playing rotation minutes once the season begins, with Shannon offering the highest upside for fantasy basketball.

With the preseason ending on Friday and rosters needing to be finalized over the weekend, the Knicks are using Monday’s game as an opportunity to evaluate the players fighting for spots. None of the projected starters will play, and reserves Landry Shamet and Ariel Hukporti are out due to illness. Of the players starting on Monday, Brogdon and Dadiet are the ones to watch. The former is looking to lock down a roster spot, and if the Knicks keep two veterans, Dadiet’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors to make room.

Miller will be cleared a couple days earlier than expected after initially being expected to miss at least two weeks. He may get an opportunity to play a significant role against the Guangzhou Loong-Lions, but he likely won’t have a consistent place in the rotation at the start of the regular season.

With Nickeil Alexander-Walker now a member of the Atlanta Hawks, Shannon is one of the young reserves hoping to earn a larger role during the preseason. After a solid outing in Monday’s exhibition opener against the Pacers, Shannon did not miss any of his three-point attempts and was active as a rebounder. Rob Dillingham (10/2/5 with two three-pointers) will also have his opportunities to step up, especially if the Timberwolves look to rest Mike Conley during back-to-backs. However, Shannon is more worthy of a late-round flier in standard leagues.

McDaniels, who did not play in Monday’s exhibition against the Pacers, logged 23 minutes in his first action of the preseason. He has a Yahoo! ADP of 110.2, and fantasy managers could be undervaluing the Timberwolves’ wing. McDaniels was nearly a top-75 player in nine-cat formats last season and can provide similar value this season. However, the 2024-25 campaign was also the first in which McDaniels finished as a top-100 player. Given the production throughout McDaniels’ career, it’s understandable why some may not be ready to hop onto the bandwagon just yet.

Through two preseason games, Edwards has shot a combined 12-of-32 from the field. While that obviously isn’t great, there’s little for fantasy managers to be concerned about. When the regular season begins, Edwards will be good to go and is worth selecting with a first-round pick in standard league drafts. He took on a slightly different role on Thursday, as starting point guard Mike Conley was given the night off. Edwards did not record any assists in that role against the Knicks, but he’s averaged at least 4.4 helpers per game each of the last three seasons.

McBride’s role is unlikely to change much, even with the new head coach, as he’s being asked to provide energy and offense off the bench. However, during his first rotation on Thursday, McBride spent some time at point guard, sharing the backcourt with Jordan Clarkson (10/3/3). Malcolm Brogdon did not play until the second half; the same could be said for Tyler Kolek. To say McBride has been a combo guard during his first four seasons would be a stretch; he was asked to do minimal playmaking for others. If that changes under Mike Brown and Deuce shows himself capable of handling those responsibilities, his numbers may benefit.

Neither Bridges nor Jalen Brunson (11/4/3 with one three-pointer) shot the ball well on Thursday, with the Knicks’ top two scoring options shooting a combined 6-of-25 from the field. However, given their track records, there should not be too much concern ahead of the regular season. This has been an interesting preseason for Towns, as he’s being asked to essentially learn two positions, power forward and center, within Mike Brown’s offensive system. “Not only is he trying to get a rhythm,” Brown said of Towns following Tuesday’s practice, “but he’s trying to figure out what the hell he’s supposed to do when he’s at the five as opposed to when he’s at the four.” Fantasy managers should not be too concerned, but it may take KAT a few games during the regular season to get completely comfortable with the new system.

The Knicks’ preseason home opener required overtime to determine the outcome, but Bridges and the other starters finished their work during the third quarter. Head coach Mike Brown’s desire for the team to play at a faster tempo will take some getting used to, but Bridges has looked relatively comfortable during New York’s three exhibition games. He shot 50 percent from the field against the Timberwolves and was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. Based on his current Yahoo! ADP of 80.7, managers may be undervaluing Bridges in early drafts.

McDaniels is in the starting lineup after sitting out Minnesota’s preseason opener against the Timberwolves, bumping Naz Reid to the bench. The other change is DiVincenzo, who steps in with Mike Conley unavailable. The change to the perimeter means Anthony Edwards will be asked to do more playmaking for others in addition to his usual scoring. With Conley turning 38 later this month, DiVincenzo’s playing time may increase during the regular season, even if he remains in a reserve role.

Juzang, who signed a non-guaranteed deal with Minnesota in August, made a big impact on the scoreboard for a second consecutive game. After scoring 16 points in Minnesota’s first game of the preseason on Saturday, Juzang topped that mark in this loss to Indiana. This isn’t enough to lock him in for a roster spot, but it certainly helps strengthen his case.

Clark had a collision with Delon Wright that left Wright down on the floor for a while, which ends the night of both players prematurely. Clark’s head went right into Wright’s chin while he was attempting to take the ball, and the hit was hard enough for Clark to leave with neck spasms. Hopefully, neither will miss an extended period of time.

Hyland signed with Minnesota just a few weeks prior to this game after closing last season on a two-way contract with them. He’s still looking to get a guaranteed deal, and this performance will certainly help his cause. As was the case in Thursday’s preseason opener, Bridges scored 10 points in Saturday’s victory. However, he did not miss a shot in the rematch after going 4-of-10 from the field against Philadelphia two days prior. If the first two games indicate how Bridges will be used during the regular season, he may have the ball in his hands more in the halfcourt. Doing this can help take some of the pressure off of Jalen Brunson (14/1/2/2 with two three-pointers), who has to run the offense and serve as New York’s first scoring option. This approach may raise Bridges’ fantasy ceiling, but he totaled one assist in two games against the 76ers.

Anunoby is a right-handed shooter, so the sprained left hand was not a significant issue in his first action of this preseason. Like fellow starters Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, he logged 17 minutes on Saturday, and the versatile wing was efficient offensively. Anunoby is one of the players who may benefit from new head coach Mike Brown’s desire to ramp up the pace and ball-movement, whether in transition or the half-court. He finished last season as a top-40 fantasy player, and managers should expect similar production from Anunoby.

Hart, who injured his back during the first quarter of Thursday’s exhibition opener in Abu Dhabi, sat out Saturday’s game with back spasms. While the issue is not considered serious, Hart must navigate a 7,000-mile flight from Abu Dhabi back to New York. The Knicks don’t open their regular season until October 22, so fantasy managers should not be too concerned about Hart’s availability. Mitchell Robinson (six points and eight rebounds in 13 minutes on Saturday) started both games in Abu Dhabi, and while head coach Mike Brown has not made a final decision on the starting lineup, Hart may be asked to contribute off the bench this season.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown has made one change to the lineup that started Thursday’s win over Philadelphia. This may be the five that opens the regular season, with Josh Hart assuming the sixth-man role.

DiVincenzo was limited last season by a case of turf toe on his left great toe, missing six weeks in the middle of the season as a result. However, while he did decide to pass up the opportunity to play for Italy at EuroBasket to rest the toe, the Timberwolves guard also decided against surgery. “I had the option to get surgery. I elected not to,” DiVincenzo said Monday. “Surgery would have put me out, I think, five, six months, and we put a plate in the shoe to restrict that mobility of my toe. … Because now the season ended, I pulled the plate out of my shoe. I want to get back to being my normal self, and so it’s all precautionary. There’s nothing to worry about to start the season.” DiVincenzo’s role may expand this season, whether he starts or comes off the bench, as starting point guard Mike Conley turns 38 later this month and the Timberwolves lost Nickeil Alexander-Walker in free agency.

Having posted career-best averages in points, rebounds, assists, steals and three-pointers last season, McBride is a player who may be worth taking a late-round flier on in drafts. He was efficient offensively in his bench role on Thursday while adding a nice bonus of three steals. While capable of facilitating for others, McBride may be best equipped to offer late-round value in steals and three-pointers, especially if the Knicks keep Malcolm Brogdon to provide a steady hand off the bench as Jalen Brunson’s backup. Brogdon, one of the veterans competing for a roster spot in training camp, contributed three points, one rebound, two assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in 12 minutes.

Robinson, who did not play after halftime on Thursday, made good use of his 18 minutes. Only committing one personal foul, the 7-footer was dominant on the glass, with five of his 16 rebounds coming on the offensive end of the floor. During the most recent season in which Robinson played at least 55 games, 2022-23, the Knicks were second in the league in offensive rebound rate and third in offensive rating. Obviously, the current roster is far different than the one that finished fifth in the East in 2022-23, but having a reasonably healthy Robinson on the floor would pay dividends for the Knicks offensively and defensively.

Brunson did not play at all after halftime, which was also the case for Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges and Mitchell Robinson. The point guard was not as ball-dominant as he was last season, with Bridges spending more time on the ball in the two-man game. That dynamic will be worth tracking throughout the preseason as the Knicks get acclimated to new head coach Mike Brown’s preferred offense, which allows for multiple playmakers and prioritizes pace. Brunson’s fantasy value will be fine, and taking the ball out of his hands a bit more could result in a few more cleaner looks if the other potential playmakers are up to the task.

There wasn’t much to take away from the stat lines of the Knicks’ established core in Thursday’s preseason opener, as Towns, Mikal Bridges (10 points, one rebound, two steals and two three-pointers) and Jalen Brunson all played 17 minutes and did not play at all in the second half. What was evident was Mike Brown’s desire to have his team play at a higher tempo, especially within the halfcourt. Towns was involved in some dribble handoffs, and there were times when he and Brunson were on the same side of the floor as Bridges operated as the ballhandler in the pick-and-roll. Something for fantasy managers to ponder is how Towns’ rebounding numbers will be impacted if Mitchell Robinson remains a starter. Robinson grabbed 16 rebounds on Thursday, with KAT only managing five. That isn’t enough to send Towns tumbling down draft boards, but this lineup would likely impact his fantasy ceiling.

Hart, who underwent surgery on his right ring finger in July, tweaked that injury during a workout just before the start of training camp. However, that wasn’t his issue during Thursday’s exhibition game, with Hart instead injuring his back while reeling in a loose ball. After a jump ball was called, Hart would throw the ball, seemingly in frustration. Unfortunately, the action prompted an automatic ejection from the game, so the trip back to the locker room to get his back attended to marked the end of Hart’s first night in Abu Dhabi. Whether he’s available for Saturday’s rematch depends on the state of Hart’s back.

The first unofficial game of the Mike Brown era features a starting lineup that lacks two figures who were fixtures in last season’s first five. OG Anunoby is nursing a sprained left hand, hence Dadiet is receiving an opportunity to start. However, while that change won’t stick once Anunoby is available, that may not be true for Robinson replacing Josh Hart. Hart was a starter last season until Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, when then-head coach Tom Thibodeau took the wing up on his suggestion that Robinson start instead. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Hart will still play plenty and remain valuable to category-league managers. Robinson’s value will be slightly boosted, but managers must consider his injury history.

Anunoby is dealing with a sprained left hand and will not play in Thursday’s preseason opener. As a result, 2024 first-round pick Pacôme Dadiet will receive the starting nod against the 76ers. Dadiet’s name has come up in trade rumors recently, due to the Knicks’ second apron-induced roster crunch. If the team were to want to keep two of the veterans it signed to camp deals, most notably Landry Shamet and Malcolm Brogdon, they would likely have to trade someone to avoid the second apron. Dadiet has been mentioned due to his likely bringing back the best return in a trade, but he has fans within the organization.
